Well, to say the least the season started off better than it ended...or so some may think. In the 2011 NFL draft, the Atlanta Falcons made a bold move of trading up for one of the best college prospects out there in Julio Jones. Nothing wrong with trading up for a player of his caliber, but to to give up 5 draft picks between 2 drafts in the process (2 firsts, 2 Fourths and a Second) is a huge, and unnecessary risk. I may be saying things differently if it was a trade for a great defensive player, where the Falcons need the most help at...or at least where they needed help to start the season. Throughout the regular season the Falcons beat the following teams: Panthers twice, Bucs, Lions, Vikings, Titans, Jaguars, Colts, Eagles and Seahawks. They lost to the Saints twice, Bears, Packers, Bucs, Texans. As you can see...every team that the Falcons beat did not make the playoffs outside the Lions. Every team the Falcons lost to minus the Bucs and Bears are in the playoffs. Chicago most likely would've been in if Cutler and Forte didn't get hurt..but that's a different story. The stats don't lie. The Falcons are an average team that beats teams that they are supposed to beat..and barely at that. To end the season, the Falcons lost 24-2 to the Giants yesterday. After a year of where the offense was supposed to make-up for the defensive struggles, they could not even score any points, on a Giants team that has a good defense, but can be score on. Another embarrassing loss, and now the Falcons are in a world of hurt and confusion. After making the trade for Julio, the Falcons only will have a 2nd, 5th, 6th, and 7th round picks in this draft. Not enough to address the many issues all throughout the team..not just the defense. What's worse is knowing that you can't go out into FA and make a difference either because of how much money is being spent on guys like Dunta Robinson and Ray Edwards, who have done nothing compared to guys like Brent Grimes, Jonathan Babineaux, and Curtis Lofton..all of which are earning considerably less than those 2 FA acquisitions. Falcons nation is in trouble and there is not much that can be done to change it. What has to be done before the next season? Firing Mike Mularkey and Brian VanGorder is a must before this team thinks about adressing players. If both aren't fired, the Falcons will not grow.

When Turner goes over 100 yards...it's like a 90% chance that the Falcons are going to win. Fact is, Turner is not the type of runner he used to be. He cannot create with his athleticism anymore...he can only make use of what the O-line gives him. This year the falcons Run Game was poor, not just because of Turner, but the lack of push by the O-line. The loss of Harvey Dahl greatly influenced this, and since the run game didn't work. Fucking Mularkey thought that it would be ok to run 1st and 2nd down..and then the Falcons would be look at 3rd and long too many times this season. Matt Ryan is not an elite QB by any means, and for Mularkey to think that he is...he needs to be shit canned. Too many problems on offense for me to even talk about.

Exactly. Mike Mularkey is a joke for an OC...and a joke for anyone that is interviewing him as a HC canidate lmao. I'm so glad Van Gorder is gone...his soft zone defense was only effective if the Falcons front four could get pressure...and the only one that could get consistent pressure was Abraham until he gets triple teamed. Then the secondary just gets mauled. Unless the Falcons can find the right guy for the 4-3, I think we need to switch to the 3-4. I know...we don't have the players to do it..but why keep trying the same thing over and expecting the same results?

Mike Smith makes the decision to go for it on 4th down, his OC Mike Mularkey calls the play...there's a difference. Mike Mularkey's inability to call efficient plays to his best players is fucking annoying. The Falcons offensive line by itself is no match on a 4th an 1 against the Giants defensive line. And again..I don't even agree with going for it on 4th down, but it's a combination of bad things.

Van Gorder knew the end was coming, most likely why he bolted before he got pinned with alot of the blame that he deserves. But yes, Very true, the most horrible decision was letting Harvey Dahl go...really don't understand why, he was a great guard and the Falcons have missed him horribly and it showed this year. Clabo and Blalock are the only decent lineman now...and we need to fix those holes at LT, C, and RG before anything else. Turner is good, but he's quickly losing a step so a guy like LaMichael James would be nice in the 2nd round Jacquizz Rodgers is a baller...but a guy his size can only do so much.
