Eagles sign Steve Smith to 1 year deal

Jeremy Maclin had mono a while back. I also had mono this Summer, and its a killer virus to get. Can't eat, you have to drool all over the damn place because swallowing is too painful, and you have no physical energy. You just sit around, and naturally you lose tons of weight from the poor diet, being dehydrated, and not getting any muscle activity. I can barely now do what I was capable of in the weight room right before getting it. There's no set recovery time, and it has nothing with how good your system is, how mentally tough you are, or the condition you were in prior to getting it. It can vary from person to person. But for certain, any conditioning you had done prior to getting it, you would probably have to start all over. At this point, he should just be getting back to his normal energy level. He's not ready for combat right now, and will have to somehow gradually get back into football condition, strength and speed, etc, while not getting overworked or hit too much in practice. I doubt he has a bust of a season, but he won't be beasting out early. As for Steve Smith... 1220 yards, good enough for 8th in the league in 2009. Sounds to me like when NY went to ink a new deal with him, he told them he thought he was worth big bucks, and they said no wait a second, you're injured and need to prove you can be effective with your bum knee before getting that kind of money from us. He thought it was bullshit and insulting, and insisted on making more money, the Eagles front office said hey, we're a little thin at reciever, come on over and we'll steal you from the Giants and take a chance on you. If he proves he can recover and have a strong 2nd half of the season, then teams can consider paying him a little more in hopes to get those 2009 stats out of him. Still, I would think a few more teams would be optimistic about getting potentially a top 10 reciever besides the Eagles, as they've basically got the NFL's dream reciever combo for years to come at WR.
  4. I agree with Sapp. Definetely worthy of the MVP. Who cares if the season hasn't even started yet.
  5. Players doing workouts on their own don't quite compare to the intensity of the team workouts. That said, you can thank the lockout for an increase in injuries this season. Basically reiterating John Clayton's take on it.
  6. Mason Foster was the center of the defense for three solid years down the road from me at UW. Beast.
  7. Since when do they make odds for this? Don't tell me people bet on this in vegas. That said, I disagree with the list. What offensive players excel right away? Not quarterbacks. Not wide recievers. Runningbacks. Daniel Thomas will win it if he doens't get injured. The Dolphins have one of the shakiest QB situations, indicating lots of running plays. They also have a lack of reliable runningbacks. Reggie Bush is maybe 10 carry per game guy, mostly on third downs, passing situations, and wildcat.

    SEANBROCK, READ THIS.

I've never actually done any of this, but using someone elses urine is of course the safest method. You just have to be careful that it doesn't get out of the temperature range, and I have no idea what the range is. I've heard people taping it to the inside of their leg, or somewhere where it will stay at least warm enough. Then, there's the cranberry juice trick. It takes a gallon, but I'd drink a little more just to be on the safe side if this is something you're really gunna try.
  9. I see both sides, but isn't making under a mil for a guy like Desean kind of insulting? And if you're going to hold out, don't cave after just a week.

Lions sign Jerome Harrison and Mike Bell

Wasn't Jason Snelling still out there? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I never saw anything on him getting signed. Seems like he'd be one of the top "bruiser back" options.

    Bears: O-Line is set

"No competition" because you did nothing in the offseason to address it.
  12. Did Mikel Leshoure somehow magically recover from his season ending injury that fast?

    Longer NFL Seasons....

We all wanna watch more football and start the season earlier while we sit around and wait for it all Summer, but we don't see the drawbacks. Alot of guys can't even last 16 games. The Superbowl teams play 24. The whole fact that there are as few games as there are makes each one so meaningful, and that's why we all insist on dedicating entire days/weekends/weeks to watching the games. The infrequency is probably the biggest asset and drives the entertainment of the sport.
  14. I'm wondering if we're gunna be able to recognize Tarvaris Jackson after the week two game at Pittsburgh, or if maybe they'll just feel sorry for him and take him down easy. Either way, minumum two sacks for James Harrisson and at least four total.
  15. Detroit is looking pretty desperate for somebody right now.

Mikel Leshoure done for the season

There goes one of my big sleeper picks. So they have Jahvid Best and who else?
  17. I would attribute the whole direction of the team (signing Sidney Rice, signing Robert Gallery, signing Zach Miller, signing Alan Branch, drafting two walruses for the offensive line) the main reason Brandon Mebane stuck around.
  18. Screw you, we're gunna suck more!
  19. Seahawks sign Zach Miller Posted by Michael David Smith on August 2, 2011, 5:16 PM EDT Denver Broncos v Oakland Raiders Getty Images Zach Miller is heading to Seattle. Miller, the tight end who was one of the best remaining NFL free agents available, has made a surprising decision to sign with the Seahawks after it looked like he would stay with the Raiders, ESPN is reporting. The Raiders took Miller in the second round of the 2007 draft, and he’s been their starting tight end since. Last year he led the Raiders in catches (60), receiving yards (685) and receiving touchdowns (five). Miller will be the Seahawks’ starter at tight end, and perhaps Tarvaris Jackson’s most important receiver. It's Miller Time!!!

Yup. A couple of white guys can always do wonders for a team's diversity.

Don't know much about the guy. Depth signing? That's not much money at all.

Update: Jets WR Jerricho Cotchery Released

Is it the cap issue? Dude is a helluva reciever and underrated. Bears? Vikings? Chargers? Panthers? Now's your chance. Damn us for already signing Sidney Rice. Bahhh....
