I don't think Vince Young is a good option for anybody. His skillset may bring something to the table given their type of system, but the character issues are not anything I would want to deal with, at least not at the QB position. I wouldn't want Vince no matter who I was. If I was the Dolphins, I'd be pushing hard for Kyle Orton. Just think of the Orton to Marshall re-establishment. You'll see alot more production and leadership from this guy.

Moreno could be a third down back? Who becomes the feature back?

The Giants have such a great line to work with. No wonder he's so sought after. I feel there's alot of guys they could make great behind that line. He'd be making the smartest choice staying with the Giants.

This needs to be a wakeup call. More cancellations will come if this lockout stretches another couple of weeks. All teams have their first preseason game by August 11th, and that's right around the corner. I'd hate to lose too many preseason games. They've become more valuable this year to get the youg'ns tuned up and in a way replace the earlier parts of the offseason missed.

DAMN! There is no good news on this anywhere. I'm pessimistic about anything getting settled tomorrow.

In doing a few mock drafts for FF, I definetely was trying to eye him alot, thinking he was one of those little-known guys, but yahoo.com especially seems to want to make it very difficult to do that. He's leaped atop runningback charts and rarely drops out of the 2nd. He reminds me alot of Larry Johnson, after he played for half a season. Then a year later he gets a full load and sure enough, he has his year. The man is just a fucking brute. A defender with the ball in his hands. He's the nextcoming of any other physical runningback in his prime. I just wish he caught the ball out of the backfield, because my leagues I play in are PPR. Nonetheless, pending the post-lockout changes, I really don't see alot of other backs pressing him for carries. He's right there in his prime, blazing speed, unfair size advantages with a 6'0 250lb frame. And some of the freshest legs around. What do you guys expect him to do this year stats wise? Given he's an every down back on a team that has a good offensive line, a very well balanced run/pass skillset, and a young defense that has re-established and will get the ball back to the offense, you'd expect anyone in the situation to be able to amount to about 1200 yards. Anyone see him doing especially crazy things? Anyone see him moving up into the top 5 for rushing yards? Past Michael Turner? Past Rashard Mendenhall? Where do you fit him in in the mix?

Been on a 7-11 slurpee diet since the throat is getting killed by tonsilitis. Getting that frozen blue berry blaster through the straw and down the back of my toungue was the best feeling ever.

Yep I retired from reading after I got halfway through the paragraph

Why do they say the Patriots have a shortage of wide recievers? There's Wes Welker, Deion Branch, Brandon Tate, and the tight ends.

Where is this guy at talent-wise? Does he just get carved up? I was always under the impression that he was a beast.

I've heard this topic discussed over and over from a Seahawks perspective and because John Clayton comes on Seattle's sports radio channels all the time because he's located here. Carson Palmer keeps saying repeatedly that he is going to retire, and have no problem doing so if Cincy doesn't trade him. He sounds pretty serious. It will be interesting to see if Cincy actually does hold onto him, and let him retire. Or will he then un-retire and join Pete Carroll's squad mid-season through and become Hasselbeck's backup?
-
He was a meaningless sign to begin with. Kurt Warner retiring, not being able to resign half the defensive stars, you knew the next few years were going to involve some rebuilding. They have scattered talent at very random positions. Wide reciever, safety, and cornerback obviously, but they're wasting that talent without having a quarterback, offensive line, and defensive line to compete with.
-
Damn I didn't even know this guy was slowing down. Strange time to retire after going to the playoffs two years in a row on really successful teams, dont ya think? What to the Jets do without a nose tackle? Dick move retiring after the draft, too.

Baller status.

Wow, I can't believe he found this board. This guy gets banned from nearly every forum he goes to. Did anyone ever encounter a RavenSteve at the old nfl-fans board before they got rid of it? That's him.
-
Why. You have three perfectly capable quarterbacks. One who should be a starter somewhere this year in the NFL, and two others who are waiting in the wings for their opportunity.

Maybe he's referring to college football

I don't see why Jimmy Smith won't be able to start right away. Most every player taken in the first round is an impact player from day one, with the exception of those at the quarterback position. By the end of the season he should be your best CB. He just needs to keep healthy and sign right away, and play in all the drills and preseason games and I'd say he's set to start at CB2 week 1. Dawan Landry has been there awhile and I wouldn't imagine them not bringing him back. Alot of it probably has to do with the outcome of the lockout. Franchise tag may be an option. Great post by the way, lots of great flavor from a Raven perspective.

Basically the company Qwest changed their name to Century Link so the Seahawks had no choice, they're under contract to have it represent the company, and Qwest is no longer the company. It really tears me apart. I loved the name Qwest Field and thought it implied pride and fear. So far they havn't re-painted the roof. I drove on the freeway bridge through Seattle that has the view of the stadium from above, and the dark blue painted roofs with the Qwest logo were still on there. I will still call it Qwest for as long as I can.

With the first two selections, Seattle grabbed James Carpenter in the first and John Moffit in the third. Both offensive lineman. Carpenter is 325 lbs, Moffit 319. That's 644. I agree there could have been better picks at 24 in the first but the position need was certainly addressed. Both of these lineman will be upgrades from what we had on the right side of the line. Russell Okung is still the LT. The Seahawks OL has been attrocious ever since the Steelers Seahawks superbowl game ended. That was the last time that it was basically an acceptable unit. The same 5 guys havn't been on the field week in and week out in forever. Offensive line needed to be addressed way sooner than it was. Do you think the Seahawks know what they were doing in taking these guys?
