  1. I thought it was a great episode, in my top 10 all-time and definitely the best big battle episode (Hardhome knocked down to #2).

The action was very sequential and they managed to organize the chaos perfectly. Disagree with everyone who said the episode was too dark or the action too confusing (with the exception of the dragon fights--I couldn't tell who was who). Music was on point from start to finish. Jorah, Theon, Lyanna, Edd, Beric, and Melisandre all have satisfying ends to their arcs. And Arya killing the Night King was 10/10 perfect, an all-time great moment for the series.

The only part I didn't care for was Jon's final moments. He takes too long to get around Viserion and finally decides to...scream at him? Wtf Jon.

There are definitely some things I'd like more of, but the last 3 episodes can solve them. It might be a bummer that the army of the dead is gone, but this is Game of Thrones. Like it or not, it's always been about people, about power. It's always been about who sits on that Iron Throne. And there's plenty of intrigue left. We've got Cleganebowl for sure, intrigue with all 3 Lannisters, Jon's claim to the Throne, Bran's new role as the Three-Eyed Raven, etc.

  2. 16 hours ago, Thanatos said:

And what, Cersei just lets them in? And they're okay with what she did by lying to them?

Thus the 80-minute runtime for the 4th episode. Your Night King theory could add to the intrigue.

The fact that Miguel Sapochnik is directing episodes 3 and 5 tells you there will be two big battles. This is the guy who directed "Hardhome" and "Battle of the Basterds."

  3. Been a solid but slightly underwhelming start to the season so far. Obviously next week is gonna be insane.

My general prediction for the last 4 episodes:

    Ep 3: Battle at Winterfell

Ep 4: Transition episode as the living retreat to King's Landing after losing the battle

Ep 5: Big final battle at King's Landing

Ep 6: After beating the dead, one last episode to decide the throne

  4. If there's anyone who can save Jameis Winston, I guess it's Arians. I love the coordinators he has hired (Byron Leftwich and Todd Bowles). With good QB play, we could see a quick turnaround in Tampa.

Also, I'm a little surprised Adam Gase hasn't been hired yet. It seemed like he was a hot candidate for interviews as soon as Miami fired him. Then again, there is a ton of misinformation floating around these days...

  5. Multiple Packers players eager to throw Montgomery under the bus. Not a good sign for the Packers' locker room, or for Mike McCarthy. I stand by my earlier comment that he needs to make the playoffs to save his job.

  6. I admit I always overestimate Green Bay because they have Aaron Rodgers. (Seriously, is healthy? Is he going to get healthy?) As PD said, their upcoming schedule will tell us a lot. As exciting as their win over the 49ers was, it's not too impressive to narrowly beat such a lowly team--at home, so I understand the overrated claims.

  7. I think the league is in an interesting place right now with so many good-not-elite teams, so I'm gonna hash this out to see what everything looks like.

    1. Rams (7-0)
    2. Chiefs (6-1)
    3. Patriots (5-2)
    4. Saints (5-1)
    5. Chargers (5-2)
    6. Packers (3-2-1)
    7. Vikings (4-2-1)
    8. Panthers (4-2)
    9. Steelers (3-2-1)
    10. Bengals (4-3)
    11. Redskins (4-2)
    12. Ravens (4-3)
    13. Bears (3-3)
    14. Texans (4-3)
    15. Titans (3-4)
    16. Eagles (3-4)
    17. Lions (3-3)
    18. Dolphins (4-3)
    19. Seahawks (3-3)
    20. Bucs (3-3)
    21. Jaguars (3-4)
    22. Falcons (2-4)
    23. Browns (2-4-1)
    24. Cowboys (3-4)
    25. Broncos (3-4)
    26. Jets (3-4)
    27. Colts (2-5)
    28. Bills (2-5)
    29. 49ers (1-6)
    30. Giants (1-5)
    31. Raiders (1-5)
    32. Cardinals (1-6)

  8. I'll be shocked if this isn't a close game. Cam Newton's scrambling ability WILL give the Eagles' defense fits. They struggled with Marcus Mariota's scrambling and are fragile in the secondary as is. Like many close games games, this will come down to the red zone. Which team will score TDs instead of kicking FGs?
