  1. Free safety Chris Prosinski out of Wyoming is another late round sleeper I think could make an impact on someone's roster. He's a sure-tackler, closes in on receivers disrupting the pass very quickly, and looks very comfortable playing in the center field dissecting plays while keeping an eye on the quarterback.

Prosinski plays with reckless abandon that reminds me of Bob Sanders, so durability could be an issue down the road but he is a very willing tackler in run support. He wowed scouts during his Pro Day when he ran a 4.39 forty yard dash. He'll probably be overlooked due to the fact that he played at a small school program, but with this being a weak safety class he has a chance at being drafted in the sixth or seventh round.

  3. Marc Schiechl, a 4-3 DE or 3-4 LB out of a tiny school named Colorado School of Mines.

His teammate Blaine Sumner could wind up being a sleeper at nose tackle as well. I'm a little afraid he's more of a weightlifter than a football player though, but some team should look him up as an UDFA.

I really like USF's wide receiver Dontavia Bogan. Bogan's size and speed won't mesmerize you, but he is a very precise route-runner, has soft hands, fluid hips with a rare instinct of avoiding defenders after the catch, he attacks the ball at it's highest point, and is very comfortable with over-the-shoulder catches. It's also something of notice that Bill Belichick personally ran his receiver drills at his Pro Day. I believe his production during college is misleading due to inconsistent quarterback play at USF.

  4. Cam Newton’s about to sign for $30 million guaranteed, so taking one million to relive this whole college pay-for-play mess is not worth his time.

I love how the writer right here is basically explaining how useless the story is that he's reporting.

  6. Totally understand your decision. Law school is going to be hella tough, and I wish you the best of luck with that. It may be hard, but try not to let TGP distract you from your studies!

Keep us updated oochy, and don't completely disappear on us... (That would be terrible!)

  7. Gabbert is going to Zona

I just don't see it that way. Cardinals will probably leave this draft with a quarterback, but I don't think it's happening in the first round. I know it's hard to say that they are going to get Kevin Kolb or Marc Bulger once free agency finally starts, but I don't think the Cardinals getting Bulger to be their stop-gap is too far-fetched.

The only way I see the Cardinals drafting a quarterback in the first round is if they trade up with their second round pick along with other pick(s) to draft someone like Locker or Kaepernick in the bottom of the first round.

I'm almost certain the Cardinals will be drafting Von Miller or Patrick Peterson @ #5 overall.

  8. A nasty fullback can make a running back. Granted, Foster's cutback runs aren't necessarily based on Leach's production, but they don't always run Foster that way. Leach is a monster, and great fullbacks aren't a dime a dozen.

I agree. Let me first say that I am a huge fan of Vonta's, but if the decision is to spend a nice chunk of money to keep him with the Texans or use that money on fixing Houston's terrible defense I'll personally start packing Leach's bags for him on his way out.

In 2007 the Giants signed Leach to a 4-year restricted free agent offer that the Texans happened to match, but maybe there's a possibility the G-Men are still interested and we could see him lead-blocking in New York.

  9. I admit that Bruce Miller may have been a reach, but his draft projection is all over the place. I've heard some analysts saying he could go as high as the fourth round, and others think in the sixth or seventh. One thing's for sure, I really like his motor and think he could contribute as a situational pass rusher on obvious passing downs.

  10. Per Rotoworld:

Free agent FB Vonta Leach tweeted Thursday that he doesn't anticipate re-signing with the Texans.

"I'd love to stay with the Texans, but (the) front office wants to go in different (direction)," Leach tweeted, adding that he sees the "writing on the wall." Leach, 30, graded out as third best fullback in the league last season, according to Pro Football Focus. He was voted a first-team All Pro.

    Source: Houston Chronicle

Leach is certainly a fan favorite, but I can wholeheartedly understand if the Texans don't want to give a big payday contract to a 30 year-old fullback. I've heard this rumor floating around for a while that Leach is commanding a big paycheck. I'll truly miss him if he truly has played his last down in a Texans uniform.

A player to watch in this upcoming draft is the fullback Zac Pauga out of Colorado State. Kubiak's sons play there, and he loves to hand pick a lot of players from that program. Pauga is a tough-nosed fullback well versed in a zone-blocking scheme and he is a receiving threat. (Another thing Kubiak covets) I'd expect Pauga could be a strong candidate for the Mr. Irrelevant pick, and if not he'd probably be a priority undrafted free agent.

  11. Calvin - Another difficult battle. This may be a controversial pick, but Calvin Johnson got my vote over Andre. If you switched the teams both Andre and Calvin were on, no doubt in my mind CJ would put up just as good if not better numbers that Andre puts up. I don't think Andre would do as good as Megatron does with what he has to work with in Detroit. You may think it's unfair to play the "if" game, but Calvin Johnson is a freakish talent that would beast even more on any other team.

By no means am I dissing Calvin, I just find it hard for anyone to vote for him over Andre. Calvin is definitely a beast, but you gotta realize that Andre had to play his first four seasons in the NFL with David Carr as his quarterback, and historically one of the worst offensive lines of all time.

I decided to tally up Calvin and Andre's stats from their first four seasons...

Andre (2003-2006): 311 receptions for 3,953 yards and 17 touchdowns

Calvin (2007-2010): 270 receptions for 3,844 yards and 33 touchdowns

Andre (2007-2010): 362 receptions for 5,205 yards and 33 touchdowns

So we can gather that Calvin is a better deep threat and he is more of a threat in the endzone, but I can tell you with confidence that there is more than just a few times where Kubiak has taken Andre off the field in red zone situations, and I don't know what the fuck he is thinking when he does that...

Andre on the other hand, is a blue-collar tough guy that loves going over the middle for those tough to get yards risking his body against oncoming linebackers to get that first down.

When it comes to the Andre/Calvin debate it's always going to be a tough decision. I believe Andre is the more complete receiver, but Calvin is still young and it's definitely possible that he could surpass Andre with a competent (or healthy) quarterback throwing him the pigskin on Sundays.

  12. Wait, I meant Smokescreen.

There is no way that san fran passes on Prince

I dunno man... If Blaine Gabbert is still on the board I think the 49ers will take him over Amukamara.

  13. Any team that is drafting Jimmy Smith will be obviously taking some sort of a risk, but some teams that desperately need to look at upgrading their secondary may just have to put his character issues aside.

In all honesty from what I've heard on Jimmy Smith is that he's smoked some pot here and there. He may have only been telling half-truths in his interviews, but marijuana is not that big of a deal to me as long as they can wait until the offseason to divulge in the medicinal herb or grow the fuck up and take his soon to be profession seriously.

Smith's talents far outweigh this "drug problem" IMO. If I recall correctly Percy Harvin was pretty much in the same boat, and look how well he has turned out. (With the exception of his reoccuring migraines)

Jimmy Smith has a high enough ceiling that could possibly put him in the same tier as Nnamdi Asomugha and Darrell Revis. Some team may end up with an incredibly amazing steal drafting Jimmy Smith in the middle of the first round.

  14. With the NFL Draft less than a week away, I thought it'd be cool if we can see how well you know your team's draft tendencies. After the draft we can see if maybe you deserve to be an NFL General Manager.

Personally I think there shouldn't be any trades, since they're practically impossible to predict. Also please try and make it as believable as possible.

I suggest going to http://www.nfl.com/ and scroll over TEAMS on the top menu bar and select your team from the drop box. The team's profile page has a full list of their draft picks.

You can explain your picks if you want, but it's not required. Also you can list some potential undrafted players your team may want to sign afterward if you want. (Also not required)

I'll start if off, and you can use mine as an example.

    :Texans:Houston Texans

    Rd. 1, Pick 11 (11): Aldon Smith - OLB - Missouri

    Rd. 2, Pick 10 (42): Rahim Moore - FS - UCLA

    Rd. 3, Pick 9 (73): Jurrell Casey - NT - USC

    Rd. 4, Pick 8 (105): Jalil Brown - CB - Colorado

    Rd. 5, Pick 7 (138): Cedric Thornton - DE - Southern Arkansas

    Rd. 6, Pick 13 (178): Bruce Miller - OLB - Central Florida

    Rd. 7, Pick 11 (214): Jerrod Johnson - QB - Texas A&M

    Rd. 7, Pick 51 (254): Greg Lloyd - ILB - Connecticut

Priority Free Agent: Derek Epperson - P - Baylor

Priority Free Agent: Zac Pauga - FB - Colorado State

Priority Free Agent: Ryan Taylor - TE/FB - North Carolina

Priority Free Agent: Dontavia Bogan - WR - South Florida

  15. Are the Texans going to play Cushing at ILB next year? I did this thing assuming that they were playing him at OLB next year. :p

But I got a little caried away and forgot about getting an olb.

It's cool man, but yeah Cushing and DeMeco and slated to be the starting inside linebackers. Connor Barwin is expected to be one of the outside edge-rushers, but the Texans badly need to draft someone that can start opposite of Barwin come Week 1.
