Is there a 'bad' team in the NFC?

Nobody making a case for DAL being a bad team? Championships start in the front office, and theirs is not cutting it. With the Davis debacle finally over in OAK I present to you the next candidate for worst front office in the NFL. That shiny stadium won't hide it for long. They have routinely placed high value in the riskiest positions in the draft, and traded the rest away on 20-something bad QBs. Romo isn't clutch, Jones is obsessed with the deep ball (and doesn't go about it the right way, works in reverse from WR to QB), DEF is a one trick pony... I'm rambling, what I'm getting at is I can't be the only one who thinks the list is more like... DAL, AZ, STL(no Jackson... identity is gone, he was everything for that offense, Bradford hasn't seen attention in his short career like he will see this season)
  2. I approve. But wanted to comment on the 4-2-5 vs. 4-3 blitz thing. Its simple. Sending x/6 requires more stunting simply because you commonly remove an OLB in this package. Gotta be a little more creative since your down a potential blitzer. Pair that with ILBs liking stunts and the outer gaps being farther than the inner gaps. Viola, you have a system leaning more towards coverage than pressure, relying/using more stunts because the system is what it is.

    'MURICA!!!!

You should visit thisiswhyyourefat.com those have been around for years. I actually made a krispy kreme bacon double cheeseburger once, it was tempting. Anyways, that site will make these, and anything else you might eat seem a lot better for you. P.s. look for the 20k calorie sandwich...

    Patriots sign Tim Tebow

As a fan, I like this signing. 3rd stringer who can contribute to trick/unconventional plays for the Pats. Good no nonsense place with some of the best tutelage you could ask for for Tebow. Good things can come from mutually beneficial situations. Although I imagine he'll morph into a cheap draft pick over the next few years.
  5. Yeah because we don't have a pass catching back or decent safeties... you could have Bush and Peterson out there for a design run or pass. Weddle or Wilson would provide improvement in percieved mediocre areas, but AP would instantly provide an insane dimension we don't have, and turn a weakness into a strength and provide balance to an offense that can get it done despite our lack of a run game for some time now. In fact, I'm done defending my pick. Wilson over AP? Its not necessarily about who fits the current mold, schemes change to adjust for personnel. I feel he's the guy who gives us the best upside from one person. In fact, after seeing the majority of peoples picking Watt or Miller I re-read the initial post to make sure the poster didn't mention AP when he ruled out QBs... AP improves any team more than any other non QB 26/32x and that's my opinion.
  6. Lions wouldn't be any better with AP? No use rebutting that logic. The thing people are missing is that a mostly one dimensional offense, puts up those numbers. Now insert that extra dimension... imagine a team capable of being a top 5 offense on one leg, give them 2. Of course he could flounder, I wouldn't give it good odds but so could Watt outside Houston or Miller outside Denver, its not likely, but possible. Doesn't have to mean a power running game, doesn't have to mean 50 throws a game. It would be called a balanced offense. lots of bland looking formations forcing a defense to tip their hand. They stopping (or trying to stop, I should say) AP or MEGATRON. Plus theoretically a more well rested defense. Also you're going to have to imagine some scheme changes in these imaginary scenarios. If a team miraculously found themselves with AP its not hard to imagine the run/pass ratio being altered.

UPDATE: Stafford, Lions Agree To Extension

Any deal under the new CBA will be more team friendly than his current deal. I'm not a contract guru but you could mirror his current pay for 5 more years, restructuring with a more bonus-friendly contract like a few other QBs have recently. It could leave both sides happy and free up 6mil per year. Don't see why it wouldn't happen, if handled correctly it could be mutually beneficial.

    Your Teams Mount Rushmore?

And all I was saying was that the amount of his success that put him over the top as far as the records he held is concerned was largely due to playing against 3 bottom 10 (2 bottom 5) run defenses 6x a year. He was a very good RB and I like the guy, but if he played for any other team during the prime of his career I feel its safe to assume would've had 70% of the TD production at best. So great, not record breaking great though. I just like under the rug facts and don't know enough about SEA to dispute his mt rushmore status, wasn't trying to. I implore you to look at that 4-5 year period he was a premeire back in the league, and examine his production per game against NFCW and everyone else. It is polarizing to say the least.

  10. Secondary keeps getting better. We should have beaten the Saints, officiating, moreso than a bad secondary cost us that one. But you can listen to pundits all you want. I feel the impact AP would have is greater than Willis, Watt or any DB you can think of. I can't imagine any team covering MEGATRON and AP, anywhere on the field. I just don't see it happening. Plus AP will have a huge impact on our, or most defenses by keeping them fresher.

Hardest position to play in the NFL besides QB?

I played what my coaches called the dirty positions. Mainly a FB and DE, but I played my share of WR and TE. If you take speed out of the equation, TE wins hands down. Edit: I rambled a bit about my playing days... rermoved it. Gist would be from my experience safety and TE were most difficult. And I got to play almost every position at some point in high school or college.

Hardest position to play in the NFL besides QB?

Played a lot of football in my day and id say it completely depends on how you define difficulty, is pressure the most important ingredient? Anticipatory skills? Degree of down for down difficulty? Ill say defense is much harder than offense from a pressure standpoint, safeties, not CBs are seen as the last line of defense, while not always true, if a DB seems to give up a TD, it is likely he is in that spot because a safety had to make a decision before he did. Seemed most on my feet and on edge as a LB in zone coverage. Everything is going on immediately around you and you always have a job to do, diagnose and react, quickly. Least pressure was as a FB, maybe I was good at it, but your job is pretty straight forward, stay here and block or go there and block, and unlike the line your in space and know where the rusher is trying to go. The angles for blocking the QB are much friendlier back there. Id have to go with Safety. DT is the point of attack and sets the tone every play... Well the NFL is a different beast... I could easily see CB being the most difficult though, gonna stick with Safety, gotta make decisions sooner and the influence on others decision making is ridiculous. Tip my hat for TEs though. Edge block turnaround route can be the hardest 2 yards in football, right in the nucleus of the front-7. Requires timing and catch in traffic, anticipatory skills WRs make millions more for and they don't have to block JJ Watt or Von Miller then try and shed Patrick Willis for 10% of the yards on a successful play.
  13. We want Peterson. I really wanted Willis initially, then I went over all of our positions through the old evaluating lens. And Peterson seems to provide the biggest impact, 31 other teams should feel the same way. How do you defend AP AND MEGATRON? (all caps when you spell the mans name) consider it... 8 men in the box or single coverage on MEGATRON? Either way its the wrong decision. I guess you could not guard other people... Willis was second upon further review, but when I considered AP I stopped considering everybody else.

Adrian Peterson: A Legend is born

You knew a Barry fact I did not. I tip my hat to you sir.
  15. 19-0. First pick in the draft. 25 pro bowlers. Goodell assassinated on Thanksgiving. Maybe extra terrestrials are so impressed they visit Earth.

    Your Teams Mount Rushmore?

Gotta say a lot of Shauns success came up against a shaky run defense from most of the NFCW for a better part of a decade... 6 TDs against the cardinals alone, 16 in 6 divisional games? Not saying he wasn't awesome, just relish the opportunity to point out an under the rug fact. For a good while there you could run over most the teams in the division, sadly.
  17. It would be interesting to see what that much jet lag does to a group of athletes though... Its a stupid idea but that hasn't stopped him before.

Adrian Peterson: A Legend is born

Actually he responded to my post. Names are pretty similar though. As for fumbles, check out turnovers... Barry had a knack for knowing where the football was at all times. He also corrected it, as do many backs. AP still has to keep his recent streak going until he retires, then he'll have earned his legend status in my eyes. Maybe I'm not as willy-nilly with the title as most, who knows. I wish him luck.

    49ers hire Eric Mangini

I've read his primary duty will be an analytical one, where he helps the 49ers by predicting how teams will gameplan against their offense. About as defense-oriented as an offensive assistant can get. Good hire by SF.

Ronde Barber: Steve Smith toughest NFL WR to cover

I think Smith will get in. Gotta point out that he said Megatron first, and impossible to cover. I think he appreciates Smiths style and was giving some kudos to a rival. Great assessment of a unique skill set. He deserves to get in.

    Jamarcus Russell: Comeback?

To be fair the Raiders deserve some blame. The end of the Al Davis era produced countless disappointments. A players first few years in the NFL, like infancy, have an exponential impact on a players career. Imagine the environment 10 years into one of the worst developmental program eras the NFL... proffessional sports have ever seen? Picture someone sleeping in Belichicks meetings... or Tomlins.... or Harbaughs... or Harbaughs... you get it. As an immature young man he tested his boundaries and in a lot of ways the organization failed him. If it were just him, and not one of 20+ other players under 26 to only play for OAK and then be run out of town elsewhere, I wouldn't blame OAK, I should add I grew up in the bay area. Tough being a Lions fan there. but the organization deserves some blame.

Dwight Freeney: Owners made agreement to deflate FA market

The frustrating thing is that's often what seperates the two groups. Gotta fight for every penny, very dangerous job, no retirement and finite career lengths. The alternative is simply not to fight and claw. And this thinking applies to both sides. As for Freeney, he sounds bitter. This years free agency was rich in middle tier players, but a poor upper tier should be obvious by Wallace and Krugers paychecks. Unfortunately for Freeney he's long in the tooth for a DE coming off a down season in a free agency period that was rich in young pass rushers. Id personally have signed him in a heartbeat in hoping that younger pass rushers could disect his signature spin.
