The San Francisco 49ers are the NFC Champions

Damn. It's been so long, but I'm glad the 49ers are back in the Super Bowl finally. It's almost like a dream. The game went down to the wire and San Francisco pulled it out. All I wanted was for players like Patrick Willis, Vernon Davis, and Frank Gore to just have a CHANCE at winning a championship. Especially Gore. He has done so much for this team through so many dark times. Hopefully they can complete the process.

    Police Question Crabtree

Bad for this to come out a day and a half before the NFC Championship game. At the same time I'm highly skeptical. Not that I know Crabtree personally or anything like that, but given the history of Crabtree not getting into trouble or having character concerns regarding incidents like this coming out of college...it really just seems out of the blue. Crabtree was merely questioned from an allegation, and no charges were pressed. I'm hoping it's just white noise and won't be a distraction in Sunday's game.

    Steven Jackson Will Consider Retirement

I'd be surprised if St.Louis broke the bank for 29 year old Steven Jackson. It's a shame he wasn't on a better team the majority of his career.

    Is comebacks a misleading stat?

Personally I wouldn't put much stock into comebacks for an individual. There are way too many variables that go into account for a team sport. Jake Plummer and Aaron Brooks were pretty high up on their list of "comebacks" when they were playing. I think Brooks was neck and neck with Tom Brady at one point and they were starters around the same time. Some quarterbacks, like Steve Young were ahead so many times against their opponents, that a comeback wasn't even necessary. He doesn't have that many during his tenure with the 49ers. Plus it's always going to depend on the metrics you choose to chronicle what a comeback is. Is a kicker involved? Are we talking about being behind at the start of the 4th quarter? If a team takes a lead at the start of the 4th quarter and doesn't relinquish it, is that a comeback? So it depends on a lot of things. Best metric is watching the individual play with your own eyes.

    What happens to Alex Smith?

I was thinking Jacksonville, but now that Greg Roman is NOT going to be the head coach there, I'm not sure. I still think that would be a great place for him though and it could work out well.
