    2019 TGP Fantasy Football

Highest scoring team in the league and I'm 1-2, gotta love fantasy
  2. Not much for the Titans: Only absolute lock (as in could retire now and would be inducted in five years) is Cameron Wake, though admittedly that's not for anything he's done with the Titans Only others that I think have a solid case right now are Jurrell Casey and Delanie Walker, but neither get the national attention they should so I'm not holding my breath If punters mattered I think Brett Kern would be in the discussion, but that'll never happen We have a very young team, and there are definitely some that I could see building a case, but I think the only other names that belong in a serious conversation are Kevin Byard and Taylor Lewan, anyone else I'd mention has less than three years in the league and that's way too soon to tell

Yeah, I'ma need a new AFC Banner

If we're looking for a defender in the AFC, I'd suggest Kevin Byard, he's a great young safety who just signed a new contract, should be good for a while

    End of Season Award Picks

MVP - Aaron Rodgers - Mahomes feels like the easy pick, but I think a bit of regression combined with an aversion to repeat winners makes me think it's going a different direction, I can see Rodgers have a resurgent season and I think the AP would be happy to give it to him OPOTY - Alvin Kamara - Just a hunch, I think he's set up to have a really good season DPOTY - Khalil Mack - Don't think I need much of an explanation for this one OROTY - Kyler Murray - everyone wants to give it to him, a decent season out of him and getting the Cardinals back to relevance is all I think it'll take DROTY - Nick Bosa - really good defender going to a team that should be competitive, only way he doesn't get it is if his current injury is worse than he's making it out to be Comeback POTY - Jimmy Garoppolo - same comment as Kyler Murray above Coach of the Year - Freddie Kitchens - if he gets Cleveland anywhere close to playoff contention this is his

    Andrew Luck retires

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/27456682/luck-informs-colts-retiring-source-says Holy shit, the Titans fan in me says hell yes that's awesome, but I do have to reflect and feel bad for Andrew Luck the human being and wonder what this means for the sport
  9. I think this has become an annual thing for me, but I think it's a cool way to preview your team for the upcoming season. The thread title says it all, but I'll explain anyway, list out your team's top candidate for each end of season award, it doesn't matter whether the player has any shot at winning the award, just list who you think has the best chance, hopefully with a bit of explanation as necessary. Here are my picks for the Titans: MVP: Marcus Mariota - QB is definitely the easy answer given that the MVP is almost always a QB, so maybe this is a cop-out answer, but if the Titans are going to do anything this season it'll be on the back of Mariota taking a huge step forward. OPOTY: Corey Davis - There are actually a few options here, there's the obvious take the QB option, I also considered Derrick Henry here because he'll be the feature back and if he can build on the last month of 2018 he'll be a contender, but ultimately I'm going with Davis because he's been balling out in training camp and I think he's primed for a third season breakout after quietly putting together a really good season last year. DPOTY: Kevin Byard - for once this isn't just plug in Jurrell Casey and move on, though I did think about listing him, I also considered a few of our linebackers, Rashaan Evans came on strong late last season and could build on that and Jayon Brown has emerged as one of the better LBs in coverage in the league, but I don't think they'll put up the numbers to be in contention. Byard leads the league in interceptions over the last two seasons and is poised to be the leader of a defense that I think is going to surprise a lot of people. CBPOTY: Delanie Walker - This is the one I could actually see happening, he's been a top 5 TE when healthy and looks to be healthy in training camp, if he regains form after missing last season he has to at least be in the conversation. OROTY: AJ Brown - I could see this happen if he gets a lot of open looks with defenses focused on Davis, Walker, and Adam Humphries, although he is dealing with an injury in camp, which makes this less likely, but there really isn't another candidate for this award. Nate Davis is a dark horse if he wins the RG spot, but it's hard to imagine an olineman winning this award. DROTY: Amani Hooker - Similar to Brown, this one comes from a lack of other options with Jeffery Simmons likely to miss a significant portion of the season, he's at best the third safety on the team and the top two signed big contracts this offseason, but we do run a lot of three safety sets and Hooker could turn into our primary slot defender, which he excelled at in college. I don't expect any other rookies to get substantial playing time on the defensive side.

    2018 TGP Fantasy Football

Alright, nobody else is taking the reigns so I'll get this started. In the past we've had multiple leagues (I think as many as 4 in some years) but based on the lack of any of those leagues seeming to pop up so far we may be down to one, but let's see what the interest is. What I'm looking for in this thread is answers to the following questions: 1) Are you interested in doing a TGP fantasy league this season? (I'm going to assume that everyone who posts or votes in this thread is implying a yes to this one, so please don't vote in the polls unless you're going to play) 2) What platform do you want to use? (in the past I know we've used ESPN and Yahoo, but I'm open to suggestion for other free platforms) 3) What draft format do you want to do? (we've done standard snake as well as auction, I'm not aware of other formats, but if you know of others go for it) 4) Do you want to participate in multiple TGP leagues? (I'm asking this just in case we end up with too many people interested for one league but not quite enough for two, I don't want to do a 14 team league) 5) Are there any deal breakers? (this is primarily for options for the other two questions, but is not limited to that, we'll get into nuts and bolts later, but if you want to go ahead and say you're not playing if it's not PPR, or won't use IDPs, go for it) I created polls for 2, 3, and 4, while the results from 2 and 3 will be considered they won't be dispositive as some weight may be given to 5 if necessary for numbers, please answer #5 in a post. Also, please post your thoughts on the poll questions, don't just vote, you may be able to talk people into your preferences and if anyone has really strong preferences towards any of the options I will consider that to a similar extent as deal breakers.
  13. With the first game of the preseason approaching, it feels like a good time to re-visit this, so here's my second attempt: Offense (25): QB (2): Marcus Mariota, Ryan Tannehill RB (4): Derrick Henry, Dion Lewis, David Fluellen, Jeremy McNichols WR (6): Corey Davis, Adam Humphries, AJ Brown, Taywan Taylor, Tajae Sharpe, Anthony Ratliff-Williams TE (4): Delanie Walker, Jonnu Smith, Anthony Firkser, MyCole Pruitt T (4): Jack Conklin, Dennis Kelly, Tyler Marz, Austin Pasztor IOL (5): Ben Jones, Rodger Saffold, Corey Levin, Kevin Pamphile, Nate Davis Defense (25): DL (5) :Jurrell Casey, DaQuan Jones, Austin Johnson, Brent Urban, Matt Dickerson LB (11) : Rashaan Evans, Jayon Brown, Harold Landry, Cameron Wake, Sharif Finch, Wesley Woodyard, D'Andre Walker, David Long, Darren Bates, Kamalei Correa, Derick Roberson CB (5): Adoree' Jackson, Logan Ryan, Malcolm Butler, LeShaun Sims, Tye Smith S (4): Kevin Byard, Kenny Vaccaro, Amani Hooker, Dand Cruikshank Specialists (3): K (1): Ryan Succop P (1): Brett Kern LS (1): Beau Brinkley PUP/IR/Suspended: Jeffery Simmons, Cameron Batson, Taylor Lewan Players waived since my first projection: Dee Liner (now with LAC), Gimel President (now with Houston) Changes (I'm typing this as I go): Jeremy McNichols has been playing too well not to make this team. Cameron Batson going on IR opens up the sixth WR spot and Ratliff-Williams has been really impressive in camp, I could also see Darius Jennings getting the nod here based on his experience in the league, also worth noting the team listed Jennings as the primary kickoff returner on the initial depth chart. Taylor Lewan's suspension means a different tackle gets a spot for at least a few weeks, that's going to Austin Pasztor. Matt Dickerson and Derick Roberson have also had really impressive camps and play positions where depth is going to be used, so they get a nod here. Hroniss Grasu was my last cut, he was on my last roster but given what we've seen from guys like McNichols, Dickerson, and Roberson I just ran out of spots. Oh, and about my commentary on Sharpe, he's looked good in camp, but he's always looked good in camp, so I'm not counting on him as more than a low end #3 or mid-range #4 receiver, fortunately that's all we need from him.
  14. This is always a fun thread to keep up with over the off-season, now that we're through the draft most of the pieces should be in place, so what do you think your team is going to look like in September? Here's my stab at the Titans: Offense (25): QB (2): Marcus Mariota, Ryan Tannehill RB (3): Derrick Henry, Dion Lewis, David Fluellen WR (6): Corey Davis, Adam Humphries, AJ Brown, Taywan Taylor, Cameron Batson, Tajae Sharpe TE (4): Delanie Walker, Jonnu Smith, Anthony Firkser, MyCole Pruitt T (4): Taylor Lewan, Jack Conklin, Dennis Kelly, Tyler Marz IOL (6): Ben Jones, Rodger Saffold, Corey Levin, Kevin Pamphile, Nate Davis, Hroniss Grasu Defense (25): DL (5): Jurrell Casey, DaQuan Jones, Austin Johnson, Brent Urban, Dee Liner LB (11): Rashaan Evans, Jayon Brown, Harold Landry, Cameron Wake, Sharif Finch, Wesley Woodyard, D'Andre Walker, David Long, Darren Bates, Kamalei Correa, Gimel President CB (5): Adoree' Jackson, Logan Ryan, Malcolm Butler, LeShaun Sims, Tye Smith S (4): Kevin Byard, Kenny Vaccaro, Amani Hooker, Dand Cruikshank Specialists (3): K (1): Ryan Succop P (1): Brett Kern LS (1): Beau Brinkley After looking it over, we could definitely stand to add some depth to the defensive backfield, I wouldn't be surprised to see us bring in a depth piece there at the expense of a LB or WR (maybe it's time to give up on Sharpe?) but overall the team looks pretty damn good. You also might notice our first round pick, Jeffery Simmons, is missing, I'm expecting he'll start the season on IR because of his injury during draft prep with the hope that we'll be able to take him off late in the season and work him in.

    2018 TGP Fantasy Football

I'm in as long as I don't have to run it, and I'm fine with either auction or standard draft, but standard draft is easier to schedule because it's not as long and you're not as screwed if you auto pick

Womens Sports and Pay Equality in Sports.

I also think there are two different situations depending on whether you're discussing leagues or international tournaments. If you're in the WNBA you're only going to get money based on what the WNBA brings in, and that's not nearly what the NBA is bringing in, it's the same reason players in the Big 3 league aren't getting paid the same as NBA Players or Arena Football League players aren't making NFL money. But for international tournaments, like the Men's vs. the Women's World Cup, where all of the money is coming out of FIFA's pockets, there's less of a justification for the pay discrepancy.

Top 100 NFL Players of 2019

They released the top ten in alphabetical order yesterday, order to be revealed tonight. Here's the list: Tom Brady Drew Brees Antonio Brown Aaron Donald Todd Gurley Julio Jones Khalil Mack Patrick Mahomes Von Miller Aaron Rodgers So Kevin Byard is not on the list at all, easily the biggest snub of this list.

Top 100 NFL Players of 2019

Surprised I haven't seem Kevin Byard yet, he's either making a huge jump from last season (he was #80) or he'll be the biggest snub by a longshot

Top 100 NFL Players of 2019

He had one great month last year but those 4 games accounted for about 1/2 of his yardage for the season. He's a solid back with tons of talent, but he needs to show a lot more consistency before I'd put him in the top 100.

Top 100 NFL Players of 2019

Jurrell Casey is way too low, but I guess for the team it's balanced out by the fact that Derrick Henry shouldn't be anywhere near this list

2019 TGP Mock Draft (Discussion Thread/Sign-ups)

My draft for the Titans: #19: Ed Oliver - Actual Draft #9 #43: Garrett Bradbury - Actual Draft #18 #88: Terrill Hanks - Actual Draft Undrafted, signed with Miami #157: Gardner Minshew - Actual Draft #178 #233: DeVonte Dedmon - Actual Draft Undrafted, unsigned as far as I can tell So out of five I got two top 20 picks, two undrafted players (one of which was fully expected) and one right around where I drafted, I'd say that balances out to thoroughly mediocre, which is what I usually aim for in this
