    ESPN's post draft rankings

Saying any team is the best this far out before the season is ludicrous, at least if saying it with any amount of certainly or seriousness. There's not much else to do in the offseason, so these kinds of things are meant to generate discussion. That said, I don't think we're the #1 team right now, but I do think given how strong we were from the midpoint on (when Carroll finally took the training wheels off Wilson) last year and the additions, we are top 5. As for the Wilson comment, care to provide your reasoning? He tied Peyton's rookie TD record, while throwing 18 less INTs. He led the league in QBR after week 7 or 8, when he was no longer being limited by the playcalling. And if it weren't for Griffin also having a stellar rookie season, Wilson would've set the rookie record for passer rating at 100.0. He led comeback victories over the Patriots, Bears, Redskins, and very nearly the Falcons. It seems that you think no rookie QB can be spectacular, that only in their second year they can prove they're an upper echelon player.

    Percy Harvin traded to Seahawks

No, he's just that excited to play with a real QB on a real contender.

    Percy Harvin traded to Seahawks

Read-option with Wilson, Lynch and Harvin in the backfield is gonna be filthy. The way I look at it, if Harvin were available in this year's draft, he wouldn't last beyond pick 5. So we use a 4th (conditional 3rd) and a 7th (we have 3) to move up 20 spots in the 1st. That's a good deal. The injury thing is way overplayed, IMO. Before hurting his ankle last year (against the Seahawks, ironically), he had only missed 3 of 48 games. He'll be reunited with Sidney Rice and OC Darrell Bevell, and on a contender, so he should be happy. The only issue I have with this deal is that it put's a strain on our cap situation the next few years when we need to resign ET, Sherm, Kam, and Wilson.

    Breakout Players for 2013

By breakout, you mean he'll be activated and catch a pass? /obligatory9erhate For I'll say CB Walter Thurmond III. He's got a lot of talent, just hasn't been able to stay healthy.

    Top 10 QBs

The defense never bailed Russell out. It was Russell who was bailing the defense out, or the defense letting up a lead Russell built. Case in point: RW led SEA back from 13 down with 9 minutes to play against the Pats. RW drove 97 yards to take the lead with less than 30 seconds left against CHI, the D let the Bears tie it to go to OT. RW led a TD drive to take the lead late in the 4th against the Lions, SEA D let Stafford score the game winner. D gave up 20 points to start the ATL game, RW led us all the way back in the 4th, only for the D to give up the lead. He and RG3 also broke Ben's rookie passer rating record.

    2013 team match ups

I don't know if 2013 can top 2012 for the Seahawks in terms of matchups, but there are some interesting ones. Both games vs. SF will be ridiculous, hate-filled slugfests, per usual. Outside of those two... 1. vs. Two great teams, both with strong D's and ground game. 2. vs. Rematch of (almost) one of the most epics comebacks of all time. 3. vs. Luck vs. Wilson. 4. vs. First meeting since Beast Quake. Wilson vs. Brees. 5. vs. Pete Carroll vs. former DC Gus Bradley.

    Top 10 QBs

Wilson was 4th in passer rating, 8th in QBR, 30 total TDs to 12 total turnovers, tied Peyton's rookie TD record, not to mention was one of the most clutch QBs in the NFL this year... as a rookie. Granted it's only one year, but if you've payed attention to his work ethic and character, it's easy to see that his numbers are not only sustainable, but will get better. Joe Flacco might have average to above average regular season numbers, but he wins big games, especially in the playoffs, home or away. Matt Ryan and Tony Romo, not so much.

    49ers @ Seahawks

DOMINATION. If Russell doesn't win ROY and the voting isn't at the very least close, then there's a lot of people with their heads in the sand.

  13. EXCELLENT post. Echoes my sentiments exactly.
  14. Seattle lost to those teams, but it wasn't because of Wilson. @ARI: First game, Carroll had severely limited the playbook fearing mistakes. Wilson drove down the field in the final minutes and threw 7 passes into the endzone that if caught, would've won the game. 3 or 4 of them hit receivers in the hands and were dropped, the others thrown out of bounds because of pressure. @DET: Wilson drove down and scored a go ahead TD with 4 or 5 minutes left to go up by 3. Seattle D gave up a TD drive that consumed nearly the entire clock. QBR of 93.7. @MIA: With no run support to rely on, Russell racked up a 90.7 QBR and 125.9 passer rating anyway, and held a 21-14 lead midway through the 4th. Again, Seattle D playing soft zone let Tannehill drive down the field and put up 10 straight. The STL loss was on everyone, just a bad game all around. Also, regarding Sherman's comments... considering he both defended against Luck and caught passes from him while they played Stanford together, I'd say he knows what he's talking about, at least in comparison between Luck and Wilson. RGIII, not so much.

And then two weeks later it will be another ground and pound defensive slug fest when Seattle goes to Chicago. Irvin and Clemons are going to put Cutler on his ass... if he's back for that game.

    Rookie QB Power Rankings

Going off of QBR it's 1. Luck 2. RGII 3. Wilson 4. Tannehill 5. Weeden. Wilson is probably the best in the red zone. http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post/_/id/80813/skelton-roethlisberger

Signature Stat Snapshot: Time To Throw

They have to be because of the disproportionate number of scrambling QBs at the top. I for one know that Seattle's OL has been fairly bad in pass pro this year... Russ extends the play with his feet a lot. And Vick's OL has been ravaged, so scrambling out of the pocket has to factor in.

    Rookie QB Power Rankings

Russell Wilson is being vastly underrated in this thread. Going off of passer rating up to this point (since NFL.com doesn't list QBR): 10. RGIII 93.9 11. Russell Wilson 87.2 25. Andrew Luck 79.0 27. Ryan Tannehill 78.2 32. Brandon Weeden 67.9

    Pats @ Seahawks

LOL, wut? Hawks were #2 in run D before the game. I'll admit, Pats had more success running on us than I thought they would. Still only 80 yards or so.
