Should the Seahawks start Matt Flynn now?
True Blue replied to AllYouNeedIsLovie's topic in General NFL Talk
I honestly don't think Flynn would do any better right now. Carroll has said he's limiting the playcalling, and that wouldn't change even if Flynn were under center. Flynn's got a bum elbow, and it's not like he has more experience than Wilson now. Flynn is also MUCH less mobile, and would take a lot more sacks with our poor pass pro. Wilson is being groomed like just like Flacco was... the reigns held tight, slowly being eased up while he learns on the job with a strong D at his back. If you look up the numbers, they're much the same. The thing with Russell though is he learns very quickly from his mistakes, and probably puts in as much time if not more than the coaches each week. I want Pete to just give him the keys already, and see what he can do. -

We lost the turnover battle 3-1, rushed for under 100 yards, and still won. Held CAR to under 200 total yards. Care to change your opinion? -
Seattle's offense is worse on the road, but our D is still one of the best in the league, as Cam and crew found out today. Only one of those picks was on Wilson, the other was on Lynch. Held Carolina's high octane offense to under 200... get some!

With that said, GODDAMN do I love our defense. Arguably #1 in the league, with Arizona right there at #2. NFC West is one tough division this year.

I'm not going to argue the terrible calls on Seattle's last drive or two, they were bad. But I'm also not going to pretend the game wouldn't have played out a lot differently had Kam not been egregiously flagged for PI on a clean stop on 3rd down with the Pack at midfield and out of FG range on their eventual TD drive. Not to mention a couple blatant holding non calls on the Pack OL. All in all, one of the worst, if not THE worst officiated game I've witnessed. I feel bad for the Packers, but then again I don't because they got some bogus calls and non calls their way too that led to their TD. We may have been awarded the win, but really no one won, except for the locked out refs. Go fuck yourself, goddell.

I think the fine is BS. How is a DEFENSIVE player, looking to take out the ball carrier considered defenseless? Are all players that are too stupid to pay attention to other players around them considered defenseless? Further, Tate didn't hit Lee in the helmet. He hit him in the chest, and powered forward and up. Lee's sudden stop caused his head to snap forward and down into the top of Tate's helmet. Even Lee himself said that he wasn't hit in the head/neck, but in the chest. He also had no problem with the hit, but rather the celebration afterwards. Tate led mostly with the crown of his helmet, so I can see that being part of the issue, but he also led with his shoulder, and used his hands almost simultaneously to power through him, considering Tate is much smaller than Lee. Former NFL lineback Dave Wyman doesn't think it's an illegal block either. Lee should've had his head on a swivel. Just because you're not paying attention doesn't mean you're defenseless. It makes you an idiot. Jerry and a lot of Cowboy fans are soft and whiners, and Goddell took pity.

TJack was intended to be nothing more than a bandaid; a stop-gap QB who knew the offense and could get us through the season after having no offseason, at which point we could find an upgrade. Pete wants (and now has) a 'point guard' QB who's exceptional at reading the defense, makes smart decisions and gets the ball to whoever has the best matchup. Has to be smart and mobile. Russell Wilson has everything in droves.

What are your biggest concerns heading into the season?

Pass protection and pass rush. -
Who's going to have the best season of the starting rookie QB's?
True Blue replied to Bay's topic in General NFL Talk
He doesn't play like a rookie. And our OL is already ahead of where we were last year at any point... Lynch still put up 100+ and TD against SF. Not too worried about running the ball. As long as Russell continues to take what defenses give him and not turn the ball over, he'll have the best season. -
I don't think I've ever been this excited about a preseason game.
-
Yeah, I feel bad for Marc. He's a hell of a player. Watched him return one against EWU back in 2009 when he was with the Griz.

This. Everyone keeps raising the bar for RW, and every time he clears it. Kid is a playmaker, mature, and very head strong. Unflappable. -
Now that BMW is gone, I have to say TJack. I don't dislike him because of who he is as a person; he's got great character and a hell of a teammate from all accounts. He just can't get it done, and isn't that smart of a football player. In a couple days though, I will be able to say no one.

AZ's OL puts the OL in LOL. Their QBs supplied the Ls. Can't wait for week 1!

Baldwin wasn't a draft pick either, he was a rookie UDFA.

More scrap heap players surprising in Seattle, this time its the OL
True Blue replied to BC's topic in NFC
Correct, although he wasn't drafted by Seattle, we poached him off of Green Bay's practice squad in 2010 if memory serves me correct. Another player we hit on late is Greg Scruggs our (2nd 7th rounder this year). He didn't even play football in HS until his senior year, and then only because the coach promised him he could get him a scholarship to college. Before that he played basketball and was in the marching band as a drummer. He's a real cool cat, and has looked great so far in the 2 preseason games. -
Tommy Kelly on Kevin Kolb: 'That boy's scared'

Not quite. More like a QB and an OL. -

Although he didn't really accrue any stats, I did see him get pressure that forced some bad throws.

Who's going to be this year's Dark Horse?
True Blue replied to seanbrock's topic in General NFL Talk
All reports from camp are that the D will be for sure top 5. I mean, they are just making it hell on the QBs. Gonna make it a lot easier for whoever wins the starting job. NFC Darkhorses: and AFC Darkhorses: and -
Matt Flynn Russell Wilson Robert Turbin Ricardo Lockette Golden Tate Bruce Irvin Bobby Wagner Jason Jones Taiwan Jones Matt Johnson Jake Locker Andrew Luck RGIII
-
If Lynch is suspended this season (unlikely, IMO), Blount might be next.

Which Non-Division Matchup are you most looking forward to?
True Blue replied to AllYouNeedIsLovie's topic in General NFL Talk
Your offense couldn't stay on the field because our higher ranked defense was beating the living fuck out of it. For me it has to be Green Bay at home, just because it's going to be such a high profile game.
