Cobb: " I Want To Win Championships."

I've said for quite a while that I wouldn't pay Cobb more than $9M a year. I wanted him for $6M but I'm also a cheap fucker, and I see virtually no signs that Cobb can be a franchise receiver ($8M+). Anyways. I can't understand why Packer fans seem so high on Abberderis and Jeff Janis? They've yet to play a game in the NFL. How the hell can they take over for Randall Cobb lmfao? I'm not saying they can't just that you can't put that faith in them. Same with Davante Adams. He could be great. But he could also pull a Jarrett Boykin. I don't think he will, I think he's better than Boykin but still. He could take a tumble, you never know. I can live with what the Packers reportedly offered him. If he wants more than that he will leave. This draft is pretty thick in WR talent I've heard, and there's quite a few solid FA pickups at the position who might be value signings. Also, on some other Packers boards, I've heard that Greg Jennings might be cut by Minnesota this year (idk why, I'd guess he's being paid too much) and I agree with them that he might be a nice stop-gap pickup until we can fill the role with a full time receiver or until our current guys develop more. He knows the system and the team. He'd be cheaper than Cobb. Plus he's my favorite player from the Packers so it's a win-win.

Fuck my life and kill me now. Why does this keep happening to us? What did this happen in practice or something? He played last night for the whole game, left without a peep, and now all the sudden he's hurt. I was on the verge of tears you guys have no idea. The only thing we can hope for is that Jimmy Butler can put the team on his back for the rest of the season or some shit idk. Nobody else is capable of it..

It's being reported that Perkins has now verbally agreed to sign with Cleveland soon as he's off waivers. It's being reported as well from the same source that he agreed to do so after receiving a personal recruitment from LeBron. For as much as I respect LeBron for being one of the greatest players ever and just his pure talent at the game, I cannot fucking stand how much one player can influence the entire league. I'm not gonna go on any type of rant here but it's just annoying. It happened in Miami and it's happening in Cleveland now. In the span of one season Cleveland went from "lucky to make playoffs" to "shocking if they don't win it all". And it's all because of one player. I wish there was something that could be done about this type of recruiting, to be honest. I just don't think there's any fair or reasonable way to do it.

Great. I wanted him to sign with us and I know we're in the running for him but damn. If they get him that's just yet another big man to abuse Gasol. Mozgov already handles him nicely.

It's been that way for a long time. I don't think that I've been alive for the conferences being relatively equal. But Silver has been saying he'd like to look into a playoff reformatting so that we make sure that the good teams get in. Read that in an article last week.

Ok so I don't keep up with college that much. Mariota that far behind Winston? From what I've heard the two are pretty similar? Explain?

    2014-15 NBA Season

Ok, stop. You're clearly not even watching the games because Pau is playing center over Noah. They're listed opposite what they are on defense because they kind of "switch" positions coming to D. Noah is always on their more mobile big man. The only reason he looks good (and the reason he fills up the stat sheet) is because his height and length allow him to purely soak up shooting space for smaller guards when they penetrate. It also allows him to get easy rebounds, so long as the opponent's big doesn't contest him. The fact of the matter is Pau is simply too slow and has far too little awareness to play in our defense, at least against their starters. He also puts in way too little effort on defending the pick and roll. That's why I've kind of been an advocate at seeing him off the bench. His poor defensive ability would be somewhat masked, hopefully, by the opponent's weaker bench.

    2014-15 NBA Season

He's filling up empty stats on the sheet. He gets 15 boards a game because he is 7 feet tall. He puts no effort into getting the rebounds they just come within his area and he grabs them. His length helps him in the post as well. But he's a huge problem on defense, and is the biggest reason why almost any team can penetrate the paint against us. Edit - I could go on but, my point is, his stat sheet doesn't properly reflect the impact he's having on the team. Which is different than "very positive". I can't speak for everybody, but I'm not overreacting. The trade rumors are present. Whether or not anything will happen, I'm not sure. Thibs has always had a rocky relationship with the management. That's also true. And Pau is a huge deficit on defense. That's been true his entire career.

Reports that Taj Gibson is a trade target for teams. If we lose him I'm gonna lose it. And I think that would basically mean the end of Thibs in Chicago. Our management has thoroughly pissed him off again and again with their moves and sending off his second favorite player would put the nail in the coffin. On the topic of the Bulls, Pau Gasol shouldn't be starting. He can't play defense and lately his offense has been undesirable. He's a giant, gaping black hole in our team's chemistry right now. Not that he's a negative affect but like he's just not fitting in. And he's making the rest of the team look bad.

Packers DT Arrested with Gun, 200k Cash, and 350g of Pot

Well this sucks. I'll never understand why pro athletes find the need to deal drugs. Using, it's dumb but okay whatever, just don't endanger yourself or get caught. But why sell? You make millions every year doing your legal job... why do you need the extra money?

Packers Find Scapegoat, Fire ST Coordinator

I'm not defending keeping Slocum I wanted him gone too. All I'm getting at is that I don't think a change in special teams coordinator is what's going to get this team from yearly playoff disappointment to champions. Yeah this year in the NFCCG there were definitely instances where ST let us down. However our kicking and returning was excellent. Something I also consider though with the situations you mentioned: Obviously Slocum is partially to blame. But we've ragged on Hawk and Jones for years. They're just as shit on defense as they are on special teams. At what point do you realize it's the players, not the coaches that need to change? I think that's slowly becoming apparent at least on the defensive end. For two years now we've been slowly improving and why's that, it's because our personnel on defense has been improving and those players (Hawk and Jones) have been reduced to minimal playing time. In any case I don't mean to seem like I'm arguing, I'm just trying to produce discussion of the topic. I fully agree with firing Slocum for the reasons pointed out, in that we're just shit on that regard every year except once I believe. My main point is that I'm just a bit wary that this change in coaching staff will actually have much of an impact on our performance at the end of the year.

Packers Find Scapegoat, Fire ST Coordinator

Good move but... Counter idea: what exactly does this fix? We didn't lose games because of special teams errors. Not that I recall at least.
  14. What a good game man. Would have been so mad to see a repeat lol. Also I'm hoping that this game finally puts to rest any debates over who is a better QB all time between Brady and Manning. Manning might have more skill but when it comes down to it I'll take the 4x champ. Congrats Patriots fans. On an additional side note, 2 pretty good halftime shows in a row so not bad, NFL.
  15. The only part of the comment I had a problem with is "Try to break it if you can". He never suggested intentionally injuring a player aside from that. If a player plays hurt, you definitely go at them. You try to exploit the team's weakness, which is a weak player or injured player. But saying to break the arm if you can.. that's over the line. Edit- Trying to further clarify my point.. The difference between going at an injured player is you're trying to use that player's injury to your advantage by going after the weak point in that team. When you say try to break it if you can you're straight up saying you're targeting that specific injury, on that specific player, trying to injure them more.

    NFCCG: Packers @ Seahawks

I love Russell Wilson. I think he's a great QB. But he's not better than Rodgers in any facet of the game. The more I'm thinking about it, the more I want to bring up a few points. Sometimes, no matter what McCarthy says, I think he doesn't have as much confidence in the team as he says. We have the best QB in the game, even if he's at 50% he's still a playoff caliber QB. Why, pray tell, are we sending out the respective kicking units on 3 4th and 1's throughout the game. Especially 2 of them were on the Seattle 1 yard line? It makes no sense. In past years, namely the XLV year, we would have gone for all 3 of those. Take into account Pete Carroll during the game. He goes for a fake FG late in the game to spark the team, which it clearly did. McCarthy would never do that. You could make the argument that it was out of desperation, which in some respects it was, but if it was pure desperation why not just leave the offense out there to convert? That clearly gives you the best chance at scoring a TD. The conservative play calling makes no sense to me. On offense, at least (I'll get to D). In the regular season we had quite a few games where we blew out the opponent. Rodgers stayed in even when we were up 30 to continue the onslaught. Why in god's name (when we aren't satisfied with a 30 point lead against the Bears) are we satisfied with a 12 point lead against one of the NFL's best teams in the playoffs? Why are we playing like we've already won? It's the playoffs - no matter how good the opponent is or how much they're down, they aren't going to just concede defeat until the clock reads 0. Instead we just played like we already had won the game. What's even more ridiculous is after we let them take the lead we got aggressive again and it fucking worked. We drove down to their 30 or something for a field goal. An infant could make a better decision than what was made. The defense, I really didn't have a problem with. Yes, for the 2nd straight year they gave up a game winning drive. But come on. For the same 2nd straight year the defense has put us in position to win but stupid decisions on offense has eliminated us. We played miles better than last year, when we lost on a game-ending field goal. 5 total turnovers are intended to win you a football game. It's absurd that we could not win this one. The Seahawks couldn't even more the ball for 55 minutes of the game. It's absolutely ridiculous. Aside from a few play calls I was fine with the defense. I have no idea why Matthews wasn't out there for the Seahawk's final drive. Idk who's decision that was but it was stupid. Hawk and Jones, for the 18th game this season, were targeted and exploited. I'm not as down in the dumps as some people. I'm just annoyed because now I'm hearing "We'll use this game as motivation and come back better". How many fucking times are we going to hear that? We've been "coming back better" and "getting motivated" from humiliating losses for 4 god damn years now. I don't mean to sound impatient because I usually am rather level-headed but when we play as good as we did and lose because of game management decisions... I'm sorry but that's something that people need to be fired over. I won't call for any firings yet.... but if next year ends in a similar or worse fashion than this one. I don't know how much longer I can stand for McCarthy. Every year I get a little more worried that he's holding back this team. And this game made it obvious that at least this week.. he did.

    Packres 2015 Free Agents

Considering the fact that we have very few NEEDS outside of ILB, just want to get a thread going about who we can let go and who needs to stay: Must resign RT Bryan Bulaga - The offensive line is miles better with him in there. WR Randall Cobb - No explanation. T/G Don Barclay - He'll come cheap and he's far and away the best OL we have outside our starters CB Davon House - Assuming Williams goes elsewhere there's no way we can let him go. Would be nice CB Tramon Williams - He'd be nice to bring back cheap but I don't know if that's possible. He's pretty reliable for us but we got a lot of talent at CB which probably makes him expendable. DT BJ Raji - Again, he'll probably be cheap, coming off a horrible 2013 and an IR 2014. He plays a position where we are thin on talent. FB John Kuhn - Really good pass blocker but that's about all he's good for aside from the infrequent TD's he leeches from Lacy. Veterans minimum or he should probably walk. S Chris Banjo - A real no namer who provides a lot of reliable ST plays. Incredibly cheap signing but is worth it imo. DT Letroy Guion - A position with very little depth kind of helps this guy out. We'll have to try and re-sign him unless Suh wants to come here for peanuts. Indifferent QB Matt Flynn - Didn't see much action this year and him coming back depends on Tolzien's development. QB Scott Tolzien - We don't really know too much about him as of now. It's either him or Flynn next year. WR Jarrett Boykin - Fell to the bottom of the depth chart, he'll probably walk. RB Dujuan Harris - Didn't even suit up at the end of the year. He's nice depth but we don't need to pay him for sitting on the bench. Let 'em go LB Jamari Lattimore - Was never really effective and with Barrington's emergence he's expendable. S Sean Richardson - Ha-Ha locked up the starting role and Micah plays the nickel. He's a rotational/ST player that are a dime a dozen. Next year's headliners DE Mike Daniels - Our best DL. Would be nice if we can lock him up early before he might get expensive in 2016. DE Mike Neal - Great at pass rush but not much else. LB Nick Perry - Good rotational pass rusher to give Clay and Julius some rest. Sucks in coverage but he's a converted DE so what do you expect K Mason Crosby - He's really turned it around and I find it hard to imagine letting him go. He won't be too expensive though, nothing to worry about. CB Casey Hayward - If he plays next year like this one we won't have to worry. He hasn't played even close to a big contract but he is a solid player. RB James Starks - Backup to Lacy. We might be able to pick somebody up in the draft though this year.

I find it hard to blame him for this one... our offense was non-existant the second half and the defense STILL held them to only 3 points until the final 5 minutes. McCarthy on the other hand....

    NFCCG: Packers @ Seahawks

It was a lot closer than I expected which is what makes it so hard to take in. Even harder considering we had the game in our hands for all but 55 minutes. And then we let them take it. This game was the ultimate lesson in playing a full 60 minutes. Not to say that Seattle only won because we stopped trying. But like.. we totally changed the way we were playing for some reason. We stopped doing what we did to get the lead... It was a fun season. I'll see y'all next September.

Cobb and Bulaga are definites. I'd also like to keep Tramon if he's cheap. Same with Raji. Also I think we should re-sign Daniels asap. If he improves a lot next year he might be too expensive to keep in 2016.

Feel sick after this one. We had way too many chances to win this game and we didn't. We had a good season. I think there's not too much that we need to add to this team. Just can't let it break up. Retain as many pieces as possible.
