  1. You're right about the logistics of it all. From a moral standpoint though, it's ridiculous. The scales aren't even. Not even close. I don't care if you smoke weed every day for the rest of your life. If you beat a woman unconscious—especially if you're built like a fucking brick shit house—fuck you. End of story. 2 games is not only insulting personally as a cash spending supporter of the NFL, but it's a slap in the face (no pun intended, serisously) to every woman who's ever been punched out by a man, regardless of anything. This might not be a legit defense for Gordon, but it most certainly is a legit talking point and something that needs to be addressed sooner than later. The fact that the NFL's cave-man approach to domestic violence isn't the issue here though, regardless of how broken the system may be, and Gordon is taking full responsibility, regardless of how you think his statement came off. He's shut down. One year, 16 games at least, done deal. I was actually looking forward to reading your post on this topic when I saw you posted, and I must say that I was not disappointed. The players/NFLPA are/is organized and focused on getting the rules changed to better suit the crime. That being said, you're 100% correct Zack. He knew what he was doing when he made the choices that he made, and now he's paying the mandated consequences. Look guys: there's a calculated risk that any NFL player takes when making the INFORMED DECISION to smoke weed while seeking or continuing employment in the NFL. Weed is a banned substance, and for players with past history of "drug abuse," no matter how trivial or insignificant you or I might think said drug is, according to the contract that every last one of them signs, weed is a no go. For a player like Gordon, who has been caught with his hand in the cookie jar before, the risk is that much greater. It doesn't change the fact that the scales of justice are completely unbalanced in relation to woman beating and weed, but just as proportionally, the fact that the scales are all fucked up doesn't change the fact that Gordon knew the risk he was taking—yet again—and completely disregarded the possibility of a negative outcome for not only himself, but for the fans that spent good money to come see him catch TD passes, not to mention his teammates (QBs) who were depending on him to be on the field. Bottom line: the Browns' fans got fucked. Josh Gordon got exactly what he was supposed to.

    Potential HOF's ...Under 26

Sean was obviously being sarcastic. Cherry jumped the gun a bit, but his defensiveness is warranted. In reality, the biggest difference between early Manning and early Dalton is that hype factor that everyone seems to despise these days. Peyton went to Tennessee, and Dalton went to TCU. Manning was no.1 overall, and Dalton didn't get taken until the 3rd round. Expectations and concessions were made for Peyton. No.1 overall QBs always get the benefit of the doubt until they prove to boom or bust, and we all know what Manning did. Still, he did nothing—I repeat , NOTHING—in his first three seasons that would have made anyone think he was the next coming of Dan Marino aside from being hyped and throwing an unprecedented amount of passes for a rookie. Manning took over the offense immediately, but he wasn't instant epic like people think. Take it from someone who was big into football when Manning was a rookie: the same warning signs were there. The biggest difference, as far as I can see, is the confidence lever. Manning was just super confident/cocky, whereas Dalton worries a bit too much. Who knows if this will be a long term impedance for Andy, and I'm not in any way saying that I expect Peyton-like results from Andy. Still though, most of the people that are all fired up have always had the same problems with Peyton that we're all having with Andy now...

    Last TV Show You Watched?

Just started watching "The Bridge." I mean, just started. I'm through the pilot and into episode 2. It's got possibilities, and I could really see it becoming something that I enjoy. Here's to hopin', though. Wait, what? I swear I just watched it today and he's still on there. I think he was just on vacation or something. I actually caught an episode of PTI with Tony AND Wilbon in the studio together this morning. So rare these days, but I remember when what the now call "Happy Hour" was just getting started on ESPN. Max Kellerman was the host of ATH, and those old guys on afterwards were really funny and knowledgeable. That show was HILARIOUS. I'm kinda surprised that you're just now getting hip to it, though. Season 2 was very "meh." Season 3 was slightly better, but I heard season 4 was a holy shit show rebirth for the fans of season 1. Really gonna have to watch that. If you already know all of this and are just rewatching it, sorry for wasting your time

Read this at work and started laughing loudly. People looked, I read the thing, everyone laughed: thanks for that (see my Sig). I get that he has to get at least a slap on the wrist, but that's probably all he deserves. Criminals - actual criminals - get redemption stories and support for days in pro sports, but let someone's extracurricular habits get made public, and holy shit what's this guys problem. Lol. What a moron. Terrible guy. Take him out back old Yeller style. Even if it's something everyone knows someone doing every day.

    Potential HOF's ...Under 26

You guys can blast the kid for it being a homer pick all you want, but he hasn't really said anything outlandish here. No one else here would have ever thrown Dalton ' s name in the hat-myself included- because the general thought process on Dalton is he'll never get consistent. If he ever does get to where he's constantly the good Andy, there's no reason he can't reach the next level. I think that's all Cherry's saying here, and it's a legit statement. QB's get extra love in HOF voting anyway, and if Dalton ever does make some playoff runs, the sky is the limit.

How you gonna just forget about Kyle Orton? I know he's not starting, but he's definitely a first string party animal.

    Potential HOF's ...Under 26

Well, since no one else is going to give any Chiefs love, I'll do it. Eric Berry? Come on now. I know he's got hype behind him which pretty much disqualifies him from any list around here, but the kid is a stud. He's been to the pro bowl every full season he's played, is a tackling machine, creates turn overs, bats down passes, and even gets to the QB sometimes. Berry is a legit superstar at his position. Justin Houston is another guy who could end up having a HOF type career. The guy is obviously a nightmare for QBs, but he's also improving against the run. He's pretty good in coverage as well. The scary thing is that he's just getting started. If he stays on the pace he's on right now, he'll certainly be in the conversation. Barring injury, Watt is already in. The writing is on the wall there, as it is with Andrew Luck. I liked NaTaS' picking Joe Haden, because that kid is a special player. He's not only one of the best cover guys in the game right now, but he's also one of the best tacklers at his position. Luke Kuechly has been very impressive in his young career, too. Dude just flat out gets it done. This next one hurts for me to type. I can feel my fingers cramping up right now, but Demaryius Thomas has the chance to be a great player. He's already turning heads, and losing Manning might not help his cause, but he was damn good even with Tebow throwing him the ball like three times per game. His pass catching ability is surpassed only by what he does after he's caught the ball. His name is spelled just ridiculously, but hey: nobody's perfect. Unfortunately, Jamaal Charles misses the cut at 27, so I won't go all long-winded about his awesome awesomeness.

    The good news thread

Never posted in here before, but that's not to say I've never had good news. In the spirit of the thread though, I suppose it bares mentioning that I'm going to school for the first time since high school (2000) due to work making an investment in me. They're sending me to Stark State for 8 various certificates that will make me that much better at my job as well as more attractive to prospective future employers. Kinda cool. I've wasted time while grinding on the wrong shit my whole life. It's nice to see that doing the right things might actually be beneficial in the long run.

lol Yeah, I was all kinds of heated when they took Fisher in the first place. That was one of the most anger-inducing pick I've ever seen. Hope for the best, but definitely prepared for the worst. Poe is obviously the other side of the coin, but even he wasn't the first overall pick. To take... Let me stop. Pretty sure Fisher is a major contributor to the Shout Box being renamed. Ask Razor about that. RG3!!!!! YYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS... While putting himself on a tee like this isn't really the best thing for the kid, I think it bares mentioning that him/the Skins' coaching staff going soooo far out of his/their way to avoid this sort of thing will most certainly be the undoing of an otherwise promising career. Zebras don't change stripes; Josh Gordon don't stop smoking; Tyson don't stop punching; Tommy don't stop being emo; and RG3 don't stop being RG3 if he wants to keep being RG3 and not just "That dude Robert Griffin who the (used to be the Redskins) wasted all those picks on."

    Elite Nominations

Campin' Chern (get 'em youngin') AirMcNair (CJ2YPC? ) BradyFak (realistic NE fan?!?) BJORN (almost always worth a reply) As a personal side note, to ATL: When I first came around here, you were an angry child. For the record, I always liked your style, but I can certainly see why many didn't. You went from being (basically) a troll to being an articulate poster who thinks before he posts. You say it's amazing that you ever made elite, and going off of your demeanor when I first got to TGP I'd have to agree. That's what made you all the more deserving of the title. #earnedthatshit

Kansas City might just have a pornstar sized mega-bust in the making in Eric Fisher. I hope that's not the case, but any end with any talent goes all Steve Smith Baltimore Ravens schoolyard bully on this kid right now. I know he's young and just nOw getting back to his natural position, but it's not looking good. Bowe showed more effort against the Panthers than he did all of last season. That's a good sign, and the small kid from Oregon has some wheels. Knile Davis is looking about like what I thought he was: mostly average but opportunistic. Andy Reid is still eating good. I'd hate to watch that dude do lunch on taco Tuesday. The young replacement O- line is going to make life slightly harder on the rest of the guys. Eric Berry, needs to get healthy. NOW! ANY injuries of ANY kind could derail everything. Go

Yeah, I think Teddy will be just fine. Cassel makes me physically angry when I see him. He's bad. No good. At all. I was mad when the Browns took Johnny from the Chiefs, and then my anger was compounded when they shit the bed by passing up Teddy.

    Last TV Show You Watched?

Pardon the Interruption with Jayson Witlock, Dan LeBatard, and that Pablo Torre dude from Around the Horn playing the role of stat boy. It may be the last TV show I ever watch. lol I don't ever want to sit through anything like that ever again.

Dwayne Bowe suspended 1 game (Titans, Week 1)

Reid didn't so much misuse him as much as Bowe figuratively phoned it in -a lot. Bowe never really worked to get involved in the new offense. I don't know if he had trouble picking it up or just didn't care, but he deserves the lion's share of the blame. After holding out to be paid like a do it all guy, his effort was insulting from a fan's perspective. I look for him to rebound this year, but again he was never asked to do anything he's not capable of excelling at. Just look at the playoff game. He showed up, and he was an impact player right up until he blew it on 4th and 12

Dwayne Bowe suspended 1 game (Titans, Week 1)

It's from him getting pulled over in November. Bowe was pretty much a no show last season. Sucks he's not gonna be there, but he's been missing for over a year now. No real big story here.

    Dating and Age Gaps

I'm kinda-sorta talking to this chick right now who's 20. As many of you know, I'm 32. It's fucking weird. We went out to an outside thing downtown, and afterward there were these two guys playing some real jazzy shit in a bar right there. Had to stand on the sidewalk and listen for a bit, because she couldn't get into the bar. Hooooowwwwwwwever, if I'm being honest—and I always am—there's a slight ego component involved in situations like this. It doesn't suck knowing you can still pull some fine young tail in your 30's. I was dating a girl that was 22-23 not too long ago, and that was a great time, except for the time we went to the bar and she got way more wasted than anyone should be in public. Inexperience was on display that day, but she didn't ever really drink outside of that time. I knew we weren't going to get married or anything, but I sure did enjoy my time spent with her. So I guess in summation, Do what you do guys/girls. You only live once, and as long as nothing really morally compromising is going on, have A good time. That's really what it's all about.
