**Update** Johnny Jolly released from prison

HOUSTON -- Suspended Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Johnny Jolly has been sentenced to six years in prison for violating the terms of his probation on a drug charge. Jolly Judge Denise Bradley sentenced the player Thursday despite his tearful plea for another chance. Jolly was charged with possession of a compound containing codeine and tampering with evidence after a traffic stop in October. It was his third drug arrest in three years. The arrest violated the terms of probation Jolly received in April as part of a deal that wiped out a previous charge and spared him prison time. Jolly started for the Packers in 2008 and 2009. He was suspended indefinitely by the NFL in July 2010 and did not play for the team last year when it won the Super Bowl. Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press
  3. There are roughly a dozen teams that have a shot at making the playoffs as a Wild Card team. What team has the potential to go deep in this spot (feel free to share the scenarios as well). I think we'll see the playoffs breaking down as follows: AFC: 1st Seed-Houston, 2nd Seed-New England, 3rd Seed-Denver, 4th Seed-Baltimore, 5th Seed-Indianapolis, 6th Seed-Pittsburgh NFC: 1st Seed-Green Bay, 2nd Seed-Atlanta, 3rd Seed-San Francisco, 4th Seed-NY Giants, 5th Seed-Seattle, 6th Seed-Chicago I think the Wild Card team most likely to succeed based on this scenario is Seattle. San Fran is one of the strongest teams in the league, and I think they'll make it to the Divisional Round against Green Bay (at minimum), but I still have questions about Colin Kaepernick. Seattle's defense is very talented and will likely give him problems throughout that game. Seattle's offense isn't elite, but Russell Wilson is certainly playing well & Marshawn Lynch is a beast, although you do have to take San Fran's defense into account when talking about Lynch. Seattle could squeeze out a close game against San Fran and has a shot at upsetting Green Bay. I'm not sure how likely that is, especially with Green Bay's frustration over their first matchup, but I definitely can see Seattle facing the Giants in the NFC Championship. Others: Denver will likely massacre Indianapolis, Pittsburgh can squeeze by against Baltimore (maybe) but will probably have problems with Denver, New England, & Houston, and Chicago will likely get knocked out with Cutler getting trampled over by the Giants' defense.

    Surprise Players this year?

I've got someone that nobody has named yet: Casey Hayward of the Green Bay Packers. He's a 2nd round pick out of Vandy that stepped up big time when the Packers needed him and hasn't looked back since. He is tied at 5th in the NFL with 5 interceptions and also has 18 passes defended, 45 tackles, & a forced fumble. He was also named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month in October because of his 4 interceptions in 3 games, which include 2 in the big win over Houston. This guy has looked pretty damn good in the Packers games I've seen.

Dolphins have sore vaginas over Pats running same play over and over

The comments made by McDaniels & Starks are both hilarious and dumb. It's funny that these guys are annoyed over their inability to stop a play that is run several times in a row, and it's dumb that they're going to call out the Patriots rather than accept responsibility for looking like fools. You have to stop a play for a team to stop using it.

Buffalo Vick's most likely landing spot?

He has injury concerns, but he's certainly better than any QB the Jaguars, Jets, Browns, Cardinals have (at least at this point). I can't see him being a great fit for any of those teams, but I think he'll end up signing with someone. It'll be interesting to see if he's after the biggest contract available to him or if he's willing to take a smaller deal, maybe even as a backup, to win a ring.

Peyton Manning or Adrian Peterson for CPOY?

I have a long, detailed answer for this question, but most of what I have to say has already been said in some shape or fashion. I'll sum it up: Adrian Peterson deserves the get the CPOY award. He is having a legendary season that might end in 2,000+ yards in a league dominated by quarterbacks. He is the reason that the Vikings' offense is able to function and score points. He has over 3 yards after contact and is in the top 5 for most (if not all) major running back statistics. Most importantly he's doing all of this after a miraculous recovery from a career-threatening injury to a body part that is crucial for his position. That being said, I think Peyton Manning will get the award because, well, it's Peyton Manning. There's a little bias given to him (a lot actually). I don't see a way Adrian Peterson wins this award without one or more of the following happening: a 2,000+ yard season, the Vikings making the playoffs, and/or Peyton Manning seriously stinking it up in the last 3 weeks of the regular season.

Is there an elite team in the NFL this year?

The Broncos aren't as good as people think they are. They're very talented, but they haven't beat a top tier team this season. They lost to the Falcons by 6 points in Week 2, the Texans by 6 points in Week 3, and the Patriots by 10 points in Week 5. All games were virtually out of reach in the 3rd quarter, and while the Broncos got the games close they were unable to close any of them out. They were down to Atlanta 27-7 midway through the 3rd quarter, down to Houston 31-11 in the closing minutes of the 3rd quarter, and down to New England 31-7 in the closing minutes of the 3rd quarter. Peyton Manning is a hell of a QB, and he's had time to develop more chemistry with his receivers since those games, but the offense definitely had a lot of chemistry early on (which was a bit surprising to be completely honest). Their most impressive win this season is probably their 34-14 victory over New Orleans. This was the Saints' only loss in their best streak of the season with a run of 5-1 from Week 5-11, but they're still a team that's suffering from their losses in the offseason as well as the punishments & effects that came from the Bountygate scandal. Denver has also beaten both Cincinnati & Tampa Bay, but neither team has been consistently good either. Denver certainly has talent on both sides of the ball, but they have lost to the three top tier teams that they've faced this year and allowed the games to get out of hand before getting a couple late scores. Their defense is ranked 3rd in weighted defensive efficiency, and their offense is ranked 3rd in weighted offensive efficiency, but I will keep my doubts until I see these top ranked units get a win against a top tier team. Willis McGahee has struggled at times this season, but he is clearly their best option at running back. Losing him in Week 11 certainly doesn't help. I won't count out a team that has as much talent as they do, especially with Peyton Manning leading the offense & Von Miller leading the defense, but they're clearly not as good or "elite" as people give them credit as being. A win over Baltimore doesn't establish them as elite since Baltimore has lost a step due to injuries & an inconsistent offense. I do expect the Broncos to have at least one big win in the postseason, but they will not be "elite" in my eyes until then.

    Ndamukong Suh-Dirty or Not?

I'm sure this topic has been discussed before on here, but I got into a big debate today with a Lions fan about this, and we're both on opposite sides of the spectrum. In my eyes, Suh is dirty. He hasn't racked up double digit dirty hits, but the ones he has made are ridiculous in their blatant disregard for the rules. His hits on Delhomme & Dalton are prime examples of dirty play. He tackled Delhomme by the neck/helmet and dragged him to the ground. He hit Dalton late, after the ball was released, and did it in a forceful illegal way. There are a few other plays, but the two I listed are the prime examples of the dirty play he shows. Now the Lions' fan argued that only "Lions haters & Tony Dungy" call Suh dirty, but I believe there's an explanation for that. First off, fans seem to think any negative talk about their team automatically means another person is a "hater", so it's not only Lions "haters" that think he's dirty. Second, analysts do acknowledge the fact that he has dirty hits. Many are former players and coaches, and they're used to seeing the game played a different way. His hits in todays game aren't allowed, but would have been accepted as part of the game 20 years ago. You can argue until you're blue in the face that the NFL is "soft", and it might be to a certain degree, but it is evolving. The NFL evolves, as do countless other things (technology, languages, etc.), so to say you can't learn to tackle a new way is ridiculous and I'm tired of players using that excuse. Computer technicians have to learn new software and such constantly, and languages evolve as well with new words, phrases, and more. Either these players evolve with the game, or they get fined, suspended, and ultimately booted from the game. Now I don't have strong feelings for or against Suh, but I do categorize him as dirty. You can say that he only has a handful of dirty hits, but that's a handful too many. He also has a short career, so the small number means a lot more when you haven't even played a full two seasons. I don't want to get into the Pittsburgh debate, and let me add that I'm a Steelers hater, but James Harrison was unfairly singled out last year by Goodell. Out of the fines he recieved, only one came from an actual dirty hit (although I can't recall which one), yet both Harrison and his team got targets painted on his back because of it. I can guarentee that Suh would be sitting on the bench if he played in Pittsburgh had he delivered the hits he's been giving to QB's (the illegal ones). All in all, I do respect Suh, but I want him to clean up his play on the field in order for me to be able to call him a clean player. The NFL has rules and regulations for every player to follow, regardless of if you like them or not, so learn them and follow them. What are your thoughts on this topic?
  10. Cassel isn't by any means an elite QB, but he hasn't done terrible in KC. I'd never say he's a top 10 QB but he's definitely a lower tier starter. It's not like the Patriots had a shitty guy throwing and helping the Patriots go 11-5. They had a decent, game-managing guy.
  11. Brady does have great weapons, but they are in no way as good as Green Bay's. Welker's a great receiver but he isn't the same deep threat or vertical guy as Nelson or Jennings. He's a dominant receiver but he isn't the same type of option. Obviously Welker has a better TE group, but he also has a weaker rest of a receiving cast. Branch is good enough to make plays but he's definitely not nearly as fast or shifty as I'd like, Ocho is virtually nonexistent, Edelman is playing defense, and Underwood...wait, where is he again?
  12. Flynn's a talented guy, but a backup QB doesn't come in and break records without an incredible supporting cast. I'm not insulting Rodgers, but I do think that this shows that his numbers are as good as they are due to the players around him. He'd be a good QB on any team in the NFL, but I can't see him being nearly as good without his nasty receiving core. He's got Jennings, Nelson, Driver, Jones, Finley, Cobb...come on, this guy has DEPTH. I'm not taking anything away from him, but I'd like to see him make plays with a weaker cast (such as Brady's).

    Headphones

It's hard to recommend headphones because we aren't sure what you're looking for. Headphones have different looks and styles, different weights and comfortability, different sound pros/cons, etc. My dad is an audio wiz and he highly recommends a brand of headphones called Grados. They aren't ear buds, and they aren't the prettiest, but their sound quality shits all over Beatz & Bose (which stands for "Buy Other Sound Equipment"). Some good pairs for $200 or less include: Grado SR-60i--$79.00 Review: N/A Grado SR-80i--$99.00 Review: My dad owned a pair of these. He said the sound quality is incredible and can compare to headphones in the several hundreds range. Good sound quality that also packs a punch with bass. Grado SR-125i--$150.00 Review: My dad highly recommends these. He said these are the best "bang-for-your-buck" headphones at this price. They've won awards and are often referred to as the actual "best-bang-for-your-buck" headphones in this price range. They're supposed to have good, clear sound and also pack a bass punch. Grado SR-225i--$200.00 Review: My friend looked into getting these and said that this model is more focused on actual sound quality than "bass punches." I know this model has also won awards for its quality. Grado iGrado--$49.00 Review: I'm a cheap bastard so I looked into possibly buying these. I saw two different people say that these were basically the best headphones available for $50.00 or less and that they sounded phenomonal for their price. **The headphones aren't sold in basic electronic stores like Best Buy, so you'll have to order them off the internet from the Grado site, Amazon, etc. One more thing--The headphones aren't the prettiest, so if you're looking for headphones to look "cool" just go ahead and go for Beatz.

5 NFL execs say no interest in DeSean Jackson if FA

I'd take the guy if he were a FA. He might not have the best attitude, but he is a playmaker and a threat on every single snap. He pulls coverage downfield and allows your other WR's/TE's to make plays as well. He is a great return man can take it to the house. He's even pretty decent at running with a pitched ball. I think it's possble to fix his attitude. He might be a jerk at times on the field but he still does great things off the field for community service. I'd take him, give him a contract that would pay him pretty well annually with a big chunk of the money coming from incentives, and would try to bulk him up a little so he didn't have such a fragile frame. Come on over to New England--we'd love to have you!

    Heisman Finalists named

My pick for the Heisman would be Robert Griffin Jr. III. He's been accurate throughout the year, has thrown the ball very well, and makes plays with his legs. This guy is a dual threat, and we all know dual threats find success in college. I still think the Heisman will go to Luck though. ESPN and every single college analyst I saw prior to the season were already practically guarenteeing Luck to get the Heisman, and they continue to rant and rave about the kid despite the fact that he's not the best player this year. RGJIII for my pick, Luck for who I think will end up with it (sadly).

I just might have to go out and get this in a few weeks! I loved Brotherhood and have put 30ish hours into it with missions, screwing around, etc. and still haven't finished all the side missions. I could probably get it all done in 10-15 hours but it's much more fun to explore and learn stuff too.
