  1. Welcome to the 2017 TGP NFL Mock Draft! This thread is used strictly for GMs to announce their selections. Please direct all discussion, debates, etc to the Mock Draft Discussion Thread. Don't forget to have fun with your selection and this process. Even though discussion is not allowed, use your time at the podium wisely! Announce your selection, add a picture, and don't be afraid to let everyone know why the player you picked was the best selection for your team. Rules 1) Starting when the first overall pick is made, all NFL transactions in real life are null and void. This includes free agent signings and all trades that involve draft picks. 2) Trades between two separate GMs need only be confirmed by both GMs in the discussion thread. Trades between two teams of the same GM may also be made. If you take issue with any of the trades made, speak of your concern in the discussion thread. From there, a decision shall be made on thew validity of such trade. Under rare circumstances a trade can and will be voided due to fairness, but it must be extremely tilted in one direction. 3) Each GM will have 24 hours from when their team goes on the clock to make their selection. Your teams clock begins as soon as the previous GM announces their selection. As we move further into the draft, later rounds will feature shorter time limits. Missing your pick twice may result in you forfeiting your team and being banned from this activity next year. If you think you may be unable to make your pick on time, send a "board" or wishlist of prospects to someone you trust to make the pick for you. This time will be cut after the first couple of rounds. 4) If you know you will be gone or see yourself coming up in the game and know you won't be around, please consider using a proxy selection in your absence. 2017 TGP NFL Mock Draft Discussion

Those crisp and harsh winter days are slowly beginning to fade along the horizon and in their stead comes the brightness of a new season -- Spring. With it comes horribly worthless 40 times, questionably valuable wonderlic scores, QB hand measurements, and of course the annual TGP Mock Draft game! I believe this is the 7th? Inception of this game? It's one of my favorite activities all year and something I am proud to take part of -- as I hope you are as well. Quick run-down for those who may be new since last year, if you have played before, feel free to skip this area: ---------------------------------- If you are new to the site or haven't participated before, let me tell you how it works. You and other members will take on the responsibility of becoming the GM for any team in the league you desire. You will then await your teams turn in the draft order and at that time take the best available player for your team, according to nobody but yourself. We use the official NFL draft order including all previously established trades between NFL teams. For example, if you decide to take on the job of Buffalo Bills GM, your first round pick will actually belong to the Cleveland Browns thanks to the trade up during the 2014 NFL Draft to select WR Sammy Watkins. This thread will serve as the sign-up for that process. ------------------------------------- The last two years have been really fantastic in terms of speed and just getting this thing churned out. Skips are really becoming a thing of the past, which is awesome to see. As you regulars probably know, we aren't getting any bigger as a community, which means fewer of us will have to take on more to make this game work. Honestly, I don't even mind doing it if me and one other person alternate picks (although, I'd rather that not be the case, lol). Quick shoutout to Every.Single.Member. that has every played this game or taken part of it in any way. Whether you GM one team or four, whether you help proxy or help me put the rounds up on the mega thread or edit picks... Past, present, and future -- Thank you. You guys rock. TL;DR Version: Sign-Ups are open! I am almost guaranteeing 2nd or even 3rd teams for who want (and even for those of you who don't). But I'd still like this to be as balanced as possible, so we will stick with the 1 team opening and go from there. 1. Cleveland Browns -- Bucman 2. San Francisco 49ers -- Weapon 3. Chicago Bears 4. Jacksonville Jaguars -- Vin 5. LA Rams -- Cherry 6. NY Jets 7. LA Chargers 8. Carolina Panthers -- Thanatos 9. Cincinnati Bengals -- Cherry 10. Buffalo Bills -- Bangy 11. New Orleans Saints -- Sean 12. Philadelphia Eagles -- Weapon 13. Arizona Cardinals 14. Indianapolis Colts -- Warhorse 15. Minnesota Vikings 16. Baltimore Ravens -- Bjorn 17. Washington Redskins -- Bjorn 18. Tennessee Titans -- Air / Oochy 19. Tampa Bay -- Dmac 20. Denver Broncos -- Razor 21. Detroit Lions -- Dmac 22. Miami Dolphins -- Vin 23. New York Giants -- Bangy 24. Oakland Raiders -- Atl 25. Houston Texans -- Fart 26. Seattle Seahawks -- BC 27. Kansas City Chiefs -- F4E 28. Dallas Cowboys 29. Green Bay Packers -- F4E 30. Pittsburgh Steelers 31. Atlanta Falcons -- Razor 32. New England Patriots -- Air NOTE: This does not reflect actual Round 1 Order, just using this for purpose of sign-ups.

    TGP Has A New Home

If you are reading this, you are on the current version of TGP with our new host! Starting with the "bad" news. We did lose roughly 50 posts or so, just because our most recent database upload was from roughly 3 PM yesterday. Unfortunately, those posts are gone and are never to be retrieved as they are stored on databases with our previous host. With that said, this hosting swap came with probably the least amount of trouble that we have ever had up to this point with changing hosts -- especially from the members perspective. We had virtually 0 downtime like we thought could happen originally, which is fantastic. And of course, the shoutbox is back! We may still work through a few things here and there, so please remain patient. Big shout out to Vin for being awesome and working the databases like a based god. Somebody (or everybody) buy him an alcoholic beverage.
  4. Ya know... I was really worried about this show. Bob Odenkirk is a great actor and Saul was a great character in a great show. Was there going to be any way for it to live up to the expectations? I wasn't so sure. But I really like being wrong in this types of situations. All of the reviews were mostly positive... Saying the show was great and that it definitely stands alone (or away from Breaking Bad) on its own merit. That is the resounding sentiment I have after episode one. This show has the potential to be a GREAT standalone project. They established a great narrative and clear direction moving forward. And that is also why I created a new thread -- because it doesn't need to be discussed within the Breaking Bad universe anymore, in my opinion. Use it or not... Whatever. What are your thoughts on the show?! Episode 2 tomorrow!
  5. New skin is live! Enjoy it... or don't, the choice is yours!
  6. I hope ya'll are ready for MORE OJ! He seems to be in good spirits. lol

    **TGP On Discord**

As Vin eloquently put it, we've moved (sorta) to Discord. If you ever have a desire to talk to old friends, we're really only a click (or download) away. For those unfamiliar -- discord is a totally free and a great way to keep our little community as together as it can be. Here's an Invite Link: https://discord.gg/JkWAfU3Phm . That link will stay at the top of the shoutbox for as long as the site stays up. Even if you don't want to be very active but just want to pop in every once in a while just like the old days -- come join us and say hi. We hope everyone has been taking care and living their best lives. Much love to all and hope to see and talk to you again!
  8. After a few bumps in the road ( like having to perform the full board conversion from my phone).... We’re here! Everything is still a work in progress, so if you notice anything — no matter how big or small — say something so Vin / I can address it. One thing already on tap is a lighter skin for those of you who don’t dig the dark or default stuff. I have a 4 day weekend coming up here so that’ll hopefully be done by the end of next week! Anything else though, anything at all... let us know. See something, Say something!

  11. We are asking for you guys to nominate and decide which players you want to see on your teams skin. Please try to pick cornerstone-esquee pieces to your team. Otherwise, guys you can actually envision being with the team for the long term. So try to find guys with some contract security. Maybe stay away from the super religious types. The attention whores aren't exactly the safest bet. And diva types aren't well recommended either as who knows when the team will want to cut ties. In other words, I am sorry Eagle fans but you are not getting Tim Tebow. As well as posting 2 players for your own team, please nominate 2 players for the main banner (not just from your own team but league-wide). We will collectively figure out the teams who don't have fans represented here at a later time. Thanks. Player Selections Main - Aaron Rodgers & JJ Watt Patriots Jets Bills -- Fred Jackson and Sammy Watkins Dolphinks Bengals -- AJ Green and Reggie Nelson Steelers -- Big Ben & Troy Polamalu Ravens Browns Colts Titans -- Air McNair and Keith Bullock Jaguars -- Fred Taylor and Jimmy Smith Texans -- JJ Watt and DeAndre Hopkins Broncos -- DT and Von Miller Chiefs Chargers Raiders -- Bo Jackson?? and Charles Woodson Eagles Cowboys -- Romo and Dez Giants -- The Gap Tooth and Osi Redskins -- Ryan Kerrigan and Trent Williams Packers -- Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb Bears -- Walter Payton ??? and Brian Urlacher Vikings -- Xavier Rhodes and Anthony Barr Lions Panthers -- Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly Saints Bucs -- Warren Sapp and Mike Evans Falcons Seahawks Cardinals Rams 49ers - NaVarro Bowman and Eric Reid

The White House is now pressuring Senate Republicans to include a check to Americans in the stimulus bill. Probably smaller than 1200 but it's something.

Supposedly Yang is gauging interest of voters in New York if he were to run to replace Bill DeBlasio in NY. He's been testing (with voters) running as either a Democrat or an Independent. Daddy Yang is my only hope.

LMAO Nancy Pelosi is supporting and trying to push through a 900 B dollar stimulus that has no checks going out to Americans after denying the REPUBLICAN WHITE HOUSES offer of 1.8 TRILLION . Holy fucking shit. This has to be a joke lmao

Biden picks a Wall Street insider to lead the department of management and budget... Biden looking at Abby Finkenauer for Secretary of Labor. Abby was a one term congresswoman here in Iowa. She won, literally went on a year long media tour talking about how awesome she was. Did nothing the entire time but worship the ground Pelosi walked on...Did the congressional debate against her republican challenger and was made to look like a FOOL. She had very little to no grasp on actual issues or policy. If you didn't know she was a member of congress, you would have never guessed she was. Baffling that she is even being looked at. This could be one of the words cabinets in modern Presidential history.

Also.. Biden is looking at a lot of fossil fuel guys for climate change positions... for whatever reason. Rep. Cedric Richmond who is expected to fill multiple roles, including liason on climate issues -- This guy is a representative in LA's district known as "cancer alley" for how polluted it is and he's done nothing. It's literally the most polluted congressional district in America... Gas and oil are huge donors of his. John Kerry as Envoy on Climate -- He's at least worked with climate change 'stuff" in the last few years but ... he's very right leaning on a lot of issues. Supports fracking, pollution trading schemes and loopholes, etc. Very old school and dated view on climate change. I guess the US is going to rejoin the climate accord and just give the impression they are going to care about the climate? Ernest Moniz as Secretary of Energy -- he held the same position under Obama IIRC. He isn't officially been placed yet but is on the "very short list". Yet another fossil fuel guy... Dude sits on the board of oil companies, has constantly sided with them on climate legislation and given them loopholes to do as they please with the false appearance of helping the climate. This guy is like 70 years old and his ENTIRE CAREER is built on the fossil fuel industry. His company literally wrote a paper telling California that the best way to reach their energy goals was to continue using fossil fuels lmao. This guy isn't a lock yet, but if he is... Why? Purely based on the people he is surrounding himself with: Biden on Climate: HORRIBLE Biden on Foreign Policy: HORRIBLE Biden on Stabalizing the Economy during Pandemic: HORRIBLE This fucking blows so far. I better get osme Andrew Yang because I can't tell if trump is even leaving office with the names Biden is putting out there.

Change his rhetoric more. Wish he would've gone after the establishment candidates more than he did. He had a really good ad against Biden but I think they really only ran it once, or like.. one run through of it because the establishment and establishment voters HATED HIM for attacking Biden on his shit record. Then at the debates he was always so friendly.. " My good friend Joe Biden" . Uh no. It's bizarre how you push a certain tone and rhetoric at your rallies then when it comes to the debates and facing the people directly responsible for the issues you want to fix... Call them your friend and talk about how great they are. He has no killer instinct. He talks a big game but doesn't act on it. EDIT: And that's just one more recent example. He literally bent the knee to Hillary in 2016 right. Fine. He lost, probably had it stolen from him.. whatever. But not only does he go around campaigning for her, but then he allows her to talk shit about him for like 4 years. He and his supporters were blamed for Hillary's poor showing, that they didn't do enough, that he wasn't part of the team, etc He says nothing about it. She comes back at him in 2020 says she can't get on board with Bernie very publicly 00 literally trying to ruin his campaign . She coincidentally decided to speak up RIGHT BEFORE voting started during the primaries. He again just let her talk. He's a jelly fish. Spineless except when he isn't up against any visible threat. It's disheartening, unfortunate. Sad. So what could've he done? A lot.

Also, the nations biggest fears have mostly come true... at least early on. Biden's national security team has been appointed and is indeed led by some of the country's most dangerous war criminals in our history. People like Blinken and Michele Flournoy have been involved in every conflict the US has jumped into since around Clinton's administration. As well as been huge cogs in legislation that argue America must be able to constantly fight countless endless wars. It's naive to think they will all of a sudden change, but we can only hope. Hindsight is 20/20, but Trump may just have been better.

No it wasn't. His other option was him leading the revolution he promised. lol. Why is that not even remotely considered. This wasn't just a Biden v Trump campaign for years. Biden has only been the nominee since like.. April? Bernie's had 8 years to do something...He's been preaching about this for 8 years... lol. He's a coward, and not a leader. It doesn't just all boil down to the most recent 6 months that you selectively want to look at.

It's also subverting democracy when you bend the knee to the establishment. Instead of leading the revolution you promise, you lure your followers into the kiln for slaughter. He's not wrong, but I can't take him seriously on anything. He's a phony. Anyway...

Good: Biden apparently is looking at Yang for Commerce Secretary or a new technology Secretary Role. Bad: Bernie threw his own name into consideration for Labor Secretary (kind of sad and pathetic after Biden's team said multiple times they don't want him lmao) Ugly: Hillary being considered for Ambassador to the UN.

The problem with Democrats winning the Senate by a small number (or 50/50 with a Harris tie) was always that they were going to need to coax Manchin on every. single. vote. Not a great start for Democrats.

Ya, that’s what I’m worried about. Depression is up, suicides are up, domestic abuse is up, child abuse is up... how far we are going to go to “ get rid of the virus “ is going to be interesting. Especially when we’ve gotten so much better at testing and treating coronavirus . During the first spike, the US had 2000 deaths a day. During this last spike we were at 800 a day. The new team won’t need to implement a plan until late January though so who knows what we’re looking at by then EDIT: And let me clarify. I am not saying do nothing different / extra. I would assume a nationwide mask mandate is going to be heavily considered / put in place. Only thing with that is, I think it would be mostly for show. I know Iowa is a small state, but we've been ravaged by the virus... We don't have a mask mandate, but I'd say a good 85-90% of people wear masks anyway pretty much everywhere. I am interested to see what the plan is beyond that though. The CDC has said that the two biggest places for transmission are work and small gatherings of friends & family. What are are gonna do? National lockdown? Tell neighbors and others to go full stasi and report people to the police? Not saying that's gonna happen,. just reiterating that I would like to know what logically comes after nationwide mask mandate.
