US has ordered the beginning of the withdrawal of our troops from Afghanistan after Trump OK'd the peace deal with the Taliban. As long as we don't just end up moving them somewhere else, this is very good. It's nice having good news out of the Trump WH.

I don't think the moderates really wanted Biden... but black people just hated Mayor Pete too much. Going to be interesting to see how Bloomberg proceeds. Even though he has only won one state and didn't finish higher than 4th in the others... he still leads the popular vote going into Super Tuesday. That's pretty crazy.

Steyer and Mayor Pete out... Lookin like a Bernie / Biden showdown. Warren claims she has no plan to drop out, even if she sucks on Super Tuesday.

I agree. And those people should be helped. But fucking over low middle class people who are just getting by isn't the answer to helping those people. But there should also be a level of freedom of choice to it. Pass Madicare For All Who Want It.. You opt in, you get the security you want for extra money that doesn't break your situation. Someone like me... maybe I want to roll around a little risky for a few years betting on myself and my health. Maybe that changes down the road and I want to opt in... At least I have that choice, instead of taking it away from me and adding even more insane income tax on top of it. Plus, it will probably end up costing more anyway... When Bernie was pitching this last election I am pretty sure the his percent increase on poor people like 2% or slightly more... Now it's 4. He's gonna get elected and it's probably gonna be 8% because the government is inept. I like most of Bernie's ideas. I like that he is fighting the fight. I feel like he genuinely wants to help people. I just think his execution... blows. Like badly. You kind of started down this path a few posts ago... but why do we need to add a new 4% income tax? Why is THAT the only way any of these politicians know how to get money out of people. More specifically to your post... Why can't we cut defense spending. End these ridiculous regime change wars, stop being the world police... Shift that money to our communities, to UHC, to education. Why can't we take a portion of already existing income tax and just shift that to a UHC plan (yes, I realize this requires cuts elsewhere)? Why can't we put a VAT on non-essential goods ...? I am totally fine with(relatively) Apple shitting on humanity and raising their prices in US markets because they are off setting VAT... Why? Because that brand new iPhone is bullshit anyway and it gives me a CHOICE. It gives and allows me freedom to choose. If I or you want to make sure we get that brand new model iPhone and feel like it's worth the extra $200... fine. Do it. If you don't... wait a year.. get a different brand of phone, etc etc. Bernie says his plan is what like... $30 trillion over a decade? I think Warren's is $20 trillion... A VAT at half the EU rate would bring in almost a trillion per year, roughly 30% of Bernie's price tag. Bernie's 5,000,000 different "options" to pay for UHC only total 17 trillion and I pulled 10 out of my ass in under 60 seconds (thanks Andrew). I don't know what just the % of his revenue generated by the tax increases would be on the 4% or whatever but that needs to change and needs to be removed from his bill. Or just increase the cap which is what.. like 30k right now? Make it 100k... Or.. how about fucking THIS. BRAIN BLAST. Eliminate the tax increase for everyone but the exact people Bernie yells at everytime he hits the stage. BILLIONAIRES! Include all the millionaires too. While it's great that people like you and me want to help... We shouldn't be footing this bill. Absolutely not. At least not in the form of mandatory income tax.

Yeah it’s just weird to me. As I’ve mentioned before. I’m not against a single payer system in essence. I have been very fortunate thus far in my life when it comes to health (knock on wood). I am all for the common good, and helping each other out. It just feels like with all of the Bernie Banter and rhetoric that I shouldn’t be on the chopping block. It just doesn’t connect with me that he rails so hard against billionaires but never once mentions how people like me are going to be impacted wayyyy more. Even though the millionaires and billionaires are going to be paying way more than me in totality, I guarantee that I “feel” it more. That’s a shitty feeling.

Bernie's site, which you linked, says I am paying an extra almost $500. That's before I factored in my raise too. I assume I will be paying more the more I make.

I never realized how good Bernie was at the political double speak until last night when he was getting attacked. Whenever someone asks him how he plans to pay for his plan, he changes the subject and if they ask him again he just changes the usbject and starts literally yelling. It's very unappealing. And all those guys do that up there, I know that. But I just never really noticed it as strongly with Bernie before. And I am with Stevo... Even though I am single, my plan is very decent. My premiums are good and they cover a lot of the things I just need personally. Now, obviously I don't have any chronic or ongoing illnesses, and that's great. But Bernie's plan means I am sacrificing my financial stability to help his plan get off the ground. I am all for the common good, but damn... where am I coming up with that extra cash to make sure this works? I guess that's my problem, but fuck me. lol

How many people have private health insurance? Uhhh.. a lot. lol. Wikipedia says almost 70% (67.3). 55% of that is employer-based. I would personally just like the option. Just for example, if Pete wins (I hope not, just an example because he supports an option)... I would see what the gubment plan consisted of, what it cost and how it compares to my current plan. That's what scares me about candidates who don't support an option... If the government plan is going to be so inclusive and cover so much... People will just choose it over their current plans. The only reason, in my mind, to fear giving people a choice is that the new plan is going to come up short or not be one size fits all. Peoples needs are malleable, and health insurance should be too -- regardless of where it comes from.

You're right they would flop in that instance... And, especially with Sanders, there is more to consider there. While a majority of Americans would support a single payer system... would they support abolishing private insurance completely? There was a poll done by Harris last year that said something like 70% of Americans either strongly agree with or are OK with single payer... Only 13% of people said they would support it if it means banning private insurance.

Bernie just came out and promised free child care through the age of 4. When asked how he would pay for it he just said with “ taxes on billionaires “... Obviously super cool IDEA. But when you’re putting forth 700 new (and again mostly good) ideas to reshape the country.... I feel as if taxes on billionaires, which is his answer for everything, will cover even close to all of this. He needs to start acting like the nominee. Stop sucking peoples cocks and lubing assholes.... start providing people with details on how this all ACTUALLY is going to work. He’s so frustrating . Lol

President Trump just congratulated Bernie for winning Nevada and said he hopes the DNC treats him fairly... Democrats should be shitting their pants.

    2020 Democratic Primary Race

Bernie does and says some great things. But he isn't uniting anybody.... And he's a little, tiny bit hypocrite. I think most politicians are, so that's cool. Dude owns the same number of houses right now as the average american will in their entire lifetime. He's a multi-millionaire who gives very very little to charity. He is all about accumulating and hoarding wealth. Now, I still believe in capitalism, so more power to him. But it's so off putting to hear one thing from him but see him act totally opposite.

Yeah, I was just reading some more of this stuff and some of the guys at work were talking about it too with the debate tonight. I don't understand how he has as much support as he does. Blows my mind... To be fair, I was ignorant of a lot of it until just recently, so i am hoping that is the case with his supporters as well.

All these attacks on Bloomberg are giving me a good laugh. His video implying there is no intelligence in being a farmer .... he claims it was taken out of context, and maybe that’s true, but not a great look. Now there’s a video that surfaced of him at a conference saying black and Latino men don’t know how to behave in the workplace ... lmao. What in the actual fuck. He also just officially qualified for the debate. I am looking forward to see him get slaughtered

You're totally right. More than likely absolutely nothing Sanders wants to do would pass as is. Saying that they would water it down is an understatement. Hell getting anything even close to anything he wants would be shocking. Even though Presidential powers have been growing out of control in recent years, there is still a pretty limited scope to their power. And even if he directs Nancy (assuming she keeps control and the Speakership)... I still don't think it would get done. GOP would be a non-starter and again... moderate democrats are going to take some serious goading. Also, I was reading an article earlier talking about how Biden's decline is nto even helping Bernie. All those moderate voters are just shifting to other candidates (mainly Bloomberg it looks like). Overall it does help Bernie though, for now, considering Bloomy was so low previously. Those voters reallllly don't want Bernie, man... lol. And you may have a point with this " negotiating from the middle " stuff but these are just normal people... normal voters. I highly doubt most of them really think about their candidate on that level. Found the article: https://www.axios.com/joe-biden-polling-bernie-sanders-bef6baf1-a231-45bd-be84-e5973080bc35.html

    2020 Democratic Primary Race

I don’t think a lot of moderates care as deeply about voting just to get rid of Trump as you probably believe. Obviously they dislike him, but a lot of people need a candidate that motivates them... gives them hope... Sanders doesn’t do that for those people. Again , that isn’t his fault. Just the way it is.

    2020 Democratic Primary Race

Very good point about the people up for re-election in Congress. I actually just read an article earlier this week talking about that possibility. That is Sanders wins the nomination -- which looks pretty likely, especially as the states voting get less white... That he (Sanders) could very well end up costing Democrats the House of Rep and there would be about 0 chance of claiming the Senate. Very , very interesting stuff. I've been changing my mind on this a lot.. The thought of a progressive vs a moderate taking the nomination. At some points during this process, I felt like it would help to have the progressive. Then I would change my mind later and think that was crazy.. then I was reading all these stories about Warren buttering up to the DNC elites so I was back on the progressive train.. and now that Pete looks like the clear #2 after two votes (again, still a lot can change)... I am beginning to think a progressive nominee is good news for Trump. I think I am gonna stick here though. But, also a good point by you... It might not even matter, because the Bernie people will probably riot if he loses (the nomination). lol

    2020 Democratic Primary Race

I just think he divides Democrats too much. Not saying that’s necessarily bad or even his fault. But uniting the moderate and progressive sides of the party doesn’t seem like (right now and just my opinion) something he is going to be able to accomplish. There are going to be too many Democrats that peel off and just don’t vote if Bernie has the nod. He will still get a lot of votes, don’t get me wrong. But it won’t be near enough.

Yang going out makes me sad. He’s genuinely a great human being. I like Tulsi but I don’t know how long that train is running for either. Idk if I can come around to any of the others. Bernie, Warren, Biden, and Pete are all complete non-starters for me. Assuming Tulsi doesn’t go the distance.... She doesn’t excite me but Klobuchar is probably thenext best option (just for me personally). Probably voting 3rd party again. Yay. Lmao Trump gonna sweep the leg vs Bernie. Those debates are going to be ugly AF. Lmao.
