  1. There were plenty of Bush apologists; there are still plenty of Clinton apologists; I have even run into Nixon apologists. It's not something that is new to Obama, and it's certainly not the reason we are the way we are right now.

Yeah you're right. I am just bitching though. I am crazy at times. But, then again I cannot believe I am on a football forum at times that allowes this type of conversation.

    YOU GUYS ROCK.

Colts.com is like all hush hush since it's a family forum. :p

Hell I even was engaged to a Democrat once. It can work. He used to tell me I was nuts but then again I told him he was nuts. It was a solid relationship. :corn:

I just want someone to give some optimism and prove it. But, I never believe it I guess. I think the only optimism I can find is that even my father thinks if it all breaks loose that it won't happen for a while. Then again he tends to be more on the optimistic side then I am.

  2. I had a Muslim friend in college who I really liked. Before 9/11 we got along. After 9/11 it was like she became hardcore in her faith again and started to give me attitude. I didn't get it, I was a bit hurt by it too.

To this day I have had issues with that whole experience.

Like she even told me out loud after 9/11 that Americans are sinners and what happens to us we deserve. I said even me? She said I had a lot of work to do to save my soul.

I told her to fuck off.

Anyway that's my experience and I say fuck them at times.

  3. To be fair to Cardinal, the Muslim Brotherhood is a group of spineless pieces of shit who allegedly shot on police first. Now, that does not exactly excuse the sheer amount of force exhibited by the military and or police force (of which 43 are dead, btw).

But the Muslim Brotherhood has reigned terror on Egypt for decades now. Ruling (recently and before their true rule) Egypt by terrorizing people, by promoting inequality and hate crimes across the lower social classes of the nation.

There is no good and bad here... It's the bad and the worse.

While the furthering of the military hold on Egypt is somewhat troubling, I can't feel that bad for people in the Muslim Brotherhood -- who have tortured, raped, and oppressed Egyptians.

I know they are VERY VERY different scenarios and backgrounds... But how many of you would cry for somebody taking out a few Westboro Baptist leaders?

I actually agree with you. The Muslim bros are pieces of evil garbage.

In fact I don't care if I am not politically correct in saying this but the entire Muslim world is completely evil and I would not mind if a single one of them was never allowed in the United States again.

Of course this won't happen though...not in todays USA and with how we have to be so "nice" to everyone.

Well after the next terrorist attack see who did it and get back to me.

  4. IMO, and no disrespect to you, the fucking "the fucking liberals are ruining the heart and soul of this country" is ruining the heart and soul of this country. It's the same, likewise, for people saying "libertarians are ruining the heart and soul of this country" or "conservatives are ruining the heart and soul of this country". It's the partisan bullshit and refusal to actually work towards a better tomorrow that's ruining the fabric of this nation.

You might be right. But, overall we are just fucked in a hand basket anyway.

But, what bothers me is how people often give Obama a pass because they "like" him. How people turn a blind eye. When Bush was President the media laid A LOT more blame on him then what we currently see.

I am not saying you or anyone here but in general.

  5. how would we go about this?

Not sure blots. Then again I am no person in high power. We are a lazy entitled country as a whole too IMO. Look at our children too these days, I see kids who would rather play video games then play outside. I see overweight kids too at alarming rates. How healthy will they be in the future?

It used to be "ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country."

What has happened to us? And do enough people still care about their rights, their freedoms and the overall well being and values of humanity? Are people that numbed down?

Sorry to rant so much. I just feel as if I see so many traits of this once great country decline since I was a kid in the 80's. I am not even old enough yet to be this disillusioned!!! lol.

I personally should not complain. I have enough money and a good job. But, I don't want to see the country around me sink either.

I give things to charity and do all the good things where I live but it's still not enough!!!

People also just don't seem as happy around me like years gone by.

I don't know what can be done at this point. I sure the hell know this, Obama is not making things better. His entire hope and change campaign was pure bullshit. I said as much in 2008. He is almost a false prophet.

  6. IMO the fucking liberals are ruining the heart and soul of this country. If Hillary "What difference does it make" Clinton is the next President you might as well start our funeral.

I love how they act like they are fixing shit too. Yeah giving out government handouts is really fixing shit. Yeah taking money from small businesses is really fixing shit.

Get everyone a fucking job and make them work. Keep the jobs in this country. And stop letting immigrants come over and just giving them government assistance. But the jobs are not there anymore and they will only decrease.

I am sure the average person didn't go to college just to be a waiter or waitress too. Those are often the kinds of jobs out there that they brag are available.

I know my opinions may not be popular though and not agree with but that's how I feel.

  7. You seem to be missing both my point and the point of the study altogether.

I'm not going to do your research for you. If you're seriously interested in getting a snapshot of the economy, you can start by not reading websites like the ones you've been linking in here. Familiarizing yourself with FRED is a good place to start, as well as reading blogs written by PhD economists (there are LOTS out there).

My father has a degree in economics from one of the best colleges in the country he received back in the 60's.

He still runs a business he inherited from his father/grandfather.

He has followed the stock market since God knows when.

He thinks eventually yes we will hit rock bottom. He does not seem to think it is going to be as soon as many out there claim but he thinks the country is sinking.

They put band aids on it to stop the bleeding but it's not fixed. They manipulate numbers quite often to keep us afloat too IMO. They lie lie lie.

They tax people like my dad up the ass at times and it still isn't going to be enough.

Honestly, it is getting to the point I think it's almost better off to sell the business even if it means costing many people in my town and the areas around it jobs. This is the shit we have to deal with these days. Small businesses around the country closing or selling because it's just not worth it anymore. Jobs going out the window.

Right now the company is going to continue though I believe for some time. But, the topic of letting it go has been brought up in recent years and still is.

It's just becoming not worth it in this economy and country anymore at times.

I do hope things improve like some suggest. Logic says to me though that the hole is too deep and it has been building for a while.

We don't have enough money IN THE WORLD to fix what is broken.

We can only delay the inevitable so long IMO.

I know you disagree but that's just how I see it.

  8. Stopped reading right there.

Prove to us all your knowledge then since every link and every other opinion around is bullshit according to your great depth of wisdom.

Often, I just share news too because I read everything and sometimes I like to try and spark discussions.

I have yet to see your provide one ounce of evidence things are going well and will be on the upswing.

I am waiting. Share with me the optimism and truth. I want to read it all. I want to also be aware and smart like you. I want optimism.

  9. http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/breakout/walmart-earnings-miss-exposes-collapsing-economy-davidowitz-142435260.html

Walmart (WMT) reported earnings of $1.24 a share this morning on revenues of $116.2 billion. Analysts had been expecting $1.25 on $118.5 billion. Sales in stores open more than a year declined 0.3%. Walmart also guided lower for the full year citing a "challenging sales and operating environment." The stock is off sharply and at risk of going negative for the last 52 weeks.

Those are the numbers, but not the whole story. Walmart is the thermometer of the American economy. Disregard the government data. Jobs and GDP and all the rest are at best inaccurate measures of the economy and at worst flat out corrupt. Walmart is capitalism writ large. The entire organization is focused on nothing but selling goods and services to Americans. It may be an empire in decline, but Walmart sells more than $1 billion worth of merchandise per day in a bad quarter. When Walmart misses estimates, it can only mean one of two things: either Walmart or the American economy is weaker than anyone thought.

"Walmart is a terrific operator... They didn't suddenly become stupid," says says Howard Davidowitz, one of the top retail minds in the country. "The economy is in collapse. That's what's going on."

Davidowitz points out that Walmart isn't just a store for the downtrodden. They have 150 million customers which collectively spent less in Walmart stores than in the same period last year. Davidowitz says another 50 million customers shop at Target (TGT), which he also expects to have negative comp stores sales when it reports next week.

Don't forget that Macy's (M) also missed expectations yesterday. Three makes a trend. The GDP data is positive and the employment data says things are improving gradually. Either the best merchants in America forgot how to sell, Americans stopped consuming beyond their means, or the economy is turning south, not getting better.

  10. Honestly though, even though the Chargers gave the Colts fits in the past (who knows about now)...I always liked Rivers as a QB. I do hope he can rebound.

I was never on board with the Norv hire either. I was not on board with the Marty firing either. In 2006 the Chargers go 14-2 and one and done. But, they lost to an experienced Patriots squad with many pieces still there from their dynasty. The Chargers were still developing at the time.

SD has often been the offseason sexy pick in recent years and failed. This year it seems many have already counted them out to be one of the worst in the league.

Really who knows, a bit of an enigma team. Can go either way I feel.

  11. http://www.egyptindependent.com/news/putin-arrange-joint-military-exercises-egypt

Russian President Vladimir Putin called for an extraordinary session at the Russian Kremlin to discuss the situation in Egypt and take the necessary steps to put the Russian military facilities "at the Egyptian military's disposal". Putin further announced that Russia will arrange for joint-military exercises with the Egyptian army.

Putin's decision came as a response to US President Barak Obama's announcement that the U.S. is calling off joint military exercises with Egypt and threatening with further steps.

  12. Donald Driver gives his thoughts:

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000230132/article/donald-driver-sheds-light-on-aaron-rodgers-leadership

Greg Jennings' non-stop comments about Aaron Rodgers is one of the strangest, if overblown, stories of the offseason.

At first, it felt like an awkward running joke. Then we realized Jennings truly had some issues with Rodgers' leadership style. Comments made by former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver on ESPN Radio on Thursday morning shed some interesting light on the topic:

"We've always said that the quarterback is the one that needs to take the pressure off everyone else," Driver said, via ESPN.com. "If a guy runs the wrong route, it's easy for the quarterback to say, 'Hey, I told him to run that route' than for the guy to be like, 'Well, I ran the wrong route.'

"Sometimes you ask Aaron to take the pressure off the guys so we won't look bad, but he didn't want to do that. He felt like if you did something bad, you do it. But I think that's the difference. You want that leadership, and I think sometimes you may not feel like you got it. You have to earn that respect at the end of the day, and I think that's what Greg was probably referring to."

Rodgers spoke with TheMMQB.com on Thursday about Jennings' endless comments.

"People taking shots at me who aren't relevant to this team and to this locker room doesn't mean a whole lot to me," Rodgers said. "Those comments do wash over with me without a reaction, because they don't matter."

Driver went on to say Rodgers is a "great guy" and a friend, but his comments tell us something about the relationship between the Packers' receivers and their quarterback. Everyone on a football team doesn't have to be best buddies. There is no right or wrong here. Every quarterback, every pro athlete has an ego. Still, it's fair to say Driver's comments show there were some disagreements about Rodgers' leadership style.

"I saw when he first got drafted, he came in with a chip on his shoulder, saying that he should have been the first pick in that draft, that it shouldn't have been Alex Smith," Driver relayed. "But that's the way the guy is and I think the thing is, I've always told Aaron this, 'Don't forget where you come from because the people are the ones who put you on that pedestal. You didn't put yourself there.' And I think that's what he's learning now.

"I'm not saying Aaron is a bad guy. I think he's a great guy. I'm friends with Aaron and we have a great relationship. But outside of that, he's going to play the game the way he's always played it."

  13. I don't even care what is said about the Jaguars at times. It is no joke, that team can make me more nervous when the Colts play them over ANY other team in the league.

Those bastages give us fits no matter what their record or who they have at QB. They can sometimes run the ball for 1 million yards on us. They can find new and creative ways to beat us and sometimes in the final minute. Even the best Colts teams sometimes went down to the wire with the Jags.

    Division rivals be division rivals.

    :yep:

  14. Was sick of going off topic in the other thread.

Personally I have felt for some time and still do that it's only a matter of time before we have a collapse. Whether it happens or not remains to be seen as well as when it happens if it does.

You are more then welcome to disagree though if you think we are headed on the right track but we were getting too off topic in another thread too.

I found another article, yes it is FOX news and many might think it is BS. But, here is some more info.

    Read it all here:

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/08/14/california-economist-says-real-us-debt-70-trillion-not-16-trillion-government/

And here is another article I found interesting:

    http://cnsnews.com/news/article/treasury-ran-98-billion-deficit-july-debt-stayed-exactly-16699396000000

  15. 5. Detroit Lions 4-12 (They lost a ton of close games last year, and history shows that those close games tend to even out over time. Plus I love the addition of Reggie Bush).

I think the Lions have some good talent. I don't think they are a very smart team though until proven otherwise. I usually expect them or their coach to implode in some way in a lot of games.

Until they gain some maturity and mental toughness I am not sure I see them living up their potential yet.

BWT on a side note, it's not entirely impossible for the Packers to reach 14-2. Not saying they will but having the best QB in the league alone is enough for me to never count them out in any game. Of course often this just works in the regular season...come playoff time the Pack will need more then Aaron. In 2011 they had a bad defense, shaky o line IMO and a shaky run game and basically won off of Rodgers and those receivers I felt.

    JMO though.

  16. I actually have had the feeling lately it is the Falcons year. But, who the hell knows. I am having more issues this offseason then usual getting a true feel for so many teams so I am really not making official predictions. A lot of question marks out there and a lot to be determined. A lot of new pieces added everywhere, a few aging HOF QBs and a lot of injuries already.

I do like Atlanta though and they have often reminded me of the "old Colts" with Manning and eventually one of these seasons I think they may break through and win it all.

I was not high on Atlanta for several months this offseason and even was looking at the other teams in the division, but lately I am starting to dig them.

I actually do not think that is a terrible SB prediction either. I could easily see one of the big favorites in one conference meeting up with an underdog fringe playoff team in another.

But, if this SB happened give me Atlanta over Cincy even though the dome team would have to win in a cold outdoor environment.
