  1. Rodger Goodell does a lot to protect the NFL brand, but its almost to a point where it hurts it. Destroying the evidence on the Spy Gate Tapes and not bringing forward the evidence on the Bounty Gate scandal was either due to a Goodell backed conspiracy or he just didn't want the public to know how bad these things really were. If its the 2nd theory, I think he's over doing the protect the brand thing. People aren't going to hate the NFL and ban it when people doing bad things get caught. I think he makes the situation worse, because without the evidence, we can dream up the worst possible ideas for what happened.

I also don't like how to hands out suspensions. He will suspend a player for getting into legal issues even when the player was not convicted. I know sometimes players get away with crimes they shouldn't, but a suspension should not occur based on speculation. Then he'll always put in a non-exact suspension to later be reviewed, just to create suspense. A perfect example of all of this is when he suspended Roethlisberger 4-6 weeks. 4 or 6 weeks, which is it? Was he even guilty of a crime? I'm one that actually believes Roethlisberger was at least somewhat to blame for his rape situation, but without proof its nothing more than speculation. I could make a long list of different suspensions and fines I disagreed with for various reasons. I'm not a fan of Goodell.

    Yeah. This.

  2. I don't get worried about the Falcons record in the preseason. During the Matt Ryan/Mike Smith era they have stunk it up in the preseason tbh. I am however concerned about the o-line.

Yeah, the Colts under Manning were always an epic mess in preseason as well. Like, awful. Fans would panic and then at least 12 wins would magically appear in the regular season.

Last year we did okay at times but I never expect much this time of year. I just don't want injuries which of course always seem to happen.

  3. This is about Riley Cooper, not all of our racist grandfathers.

Riley Cooper is 25. If he was actually a racist, there would be no excuses.

I agree, I got carried away but that's my nature too.

Call me pessimistic but I feel racism in America is getting worse and worse. Not just from whites but from everyone.....

I have spent considerable time in a small island in the Caribbean. I am porcelain white and myself and the local blacks there have NO ISSUES with each other. No race issues, NONE. It is never brought up and they even think we are crazy at times here. We just are......I have talked, drank and shared meals with friends there of different races. And rarely do I hear racial terms to describe one another.

Now in America many give each other attitude a lot and are too busy with their own agenda. Based on my personal experiences at least which are not the same for everyone.

Sometimes I feel it is America that has the issue more then anything and I don't see it ending anytime soon as long as the media and our "leaders" keep pumping it out there to get people stirred up.

  4. Whether you want to call it a miracle or just great timing be a wandering stranger -- it's a great story and one that should be shared. "Miracles" come together as a string of coincidences, and that's what happened here. The trapped woman calls for all to pray with her, a random priest wondering down a blocked road appears out of nowhere, blesses her / tells people to remain calm / says the equipment will work... He vanishes and here comes the new equipment.

If you are a non-believer, I don't expect this to convince you of anything. Faith is a strong and powerful force that should not be so mindlessly shrugged off, however. ;)

Great post. I like to share "uplifting" stories time to time I read that is a break from the doom and gloom. ;)

Absolutely nobody has to change their minds just based on experiences others have but like you said, "Faith is a strong and powerful force that should not be so mindlessly shrugged off."

It works in all different directions here.

  5. I run, jog, or power walk on most days I feel up to it. Sometimes just one speed and sometimes a mix of different speeds or inclines. Not just good for the body but clears the mind too. I do crunches, planks and lift some light weights a few times a week too. Some stretching too.

I was a ballet dancer growing up and did figure skating in my teens so I try to keep my endurance and flexibility going still.

I do it all on my own and have a treadmill at home and a few weights. Sometimes when it's nice weather I go outdoors. I really do not like the gym.

    That's about it!

  6. It is fun to joke about but post 9/11 it has already happened at times. There have been reports of women AND men AND children being stripped, felt up, probed anally and vaginally. Not common though but it HAS happened.

Christ, years ago I was flying and they took an elderly black woman in a wheelchair to the side and searched her. I saw it with my own damn eyes. What the F kind of threat was she? :yep: It was sad to see.

Yeah my breasts have been felt lightly but nothing major since they always say the underwire in a bra can set off security, sigh. But, you better bet I would raise a little hell if they told me to take off any clothing when I fly or they wanted to put their hand down my pants.

My dad has often joked we will someday all be flying with g strings on.

Granted I only believe things will reach dangerous levels like this to us if/when we have another attack that warrants them further security.

  7. One more thought I have.

My dads uncle calls just about every single race by slang terms at times. Doesn't bother me though. What are you going to do call this old white man racist?

Old man fought in WWII. Was right there in battle in one of the most gruesome times in history. Saw things we never have seen. None of us have any freaking clue what some older generations went through and how some of the racial terms were a norm in their lives.

Possibly some younger folks who do use these words were raised with elders who used them too while they were growing up. And that's not always something that can be taken away and sometimes they come out in the heat of the moment while intoxicated.

And lastly a lot of black media/entertainment and music is detrimental to the image of African Americans. Not all of it, but a lot of it.

  8. Interesting, Obama is holding a news conference tomorrow. Must check this out. :corn:

I wonder if he will actually tell us anything this time. The closing of the embassies and the terror threats.....we are long overdue for some real answers IMO.

I don't need to hear the same old BS about "phony scandals" again either btw. Or anything related to Trayvon.

And very interesting that Obama canceled his latest visit with Putin.

  9. As I've said in basically every one of these threads: we should stay out of this. Both sides are scum. If we want to send money to syria, keep it on food and medical care for civilians.

Just wait, this could become much much bigger down the road.....pray it doesn't but often these things are in the works for some time before the public realizes it.

U.S./Israel and our allies vs. Iran/Russia and their allies etc....never know it could happen!

Could become bad. This is not just about Syria IMO. There is usually a bigger picture and agenda.

  10. So its not that he blessed their equipment into working, its that they got new equipment that they already called in for. Not really seeing the miracle here.

The fact that nobody knows who he is, nobody remembers seeing him come to the scene and leave.

That is what spooks people. Or inspires them too.

I had a similar experience with being touched with something I felt was a higher power/angel many years ago. I can't explain it to doubters though so I won't and will just leave it at that since it was personal and meaningful. It completely did change my life though. It was quite personal and needed at the time.

  11. You would think having a half black President would have calmed racial tensions/paranoia but they have only been made worse since Barack Hussein Obama became Potus. Or at the very least the issues have become much more public again it appears and more division has risen IMO.

Our society as a whole is declining.... :yep:

  12. How did they figure out that kind of technology before the US government?

Good question which I have no answer for. I will try to speculate loosely for a second:

    1) We are losing steam.... :panic:

    2) U.S. and/or Israel developed it first and it was stolen/leaked somehow and now we are in some deep shit because of it.

Note: What if "clothing" isn't the only thing it works on? What about any fabric which is sometimes on any seat on a plane or even a bus?. Or fabric on suitcases/bags?

Remember they did issue a terror alert for all Americans, especially going overseas.

    Hmmm.....

  13. http://english.alarabiya.net/en/News/middle-east/2013/08/08/Obama-pledges-195-million-more-in-Syria-aid.html

    Associated Press, Washington

President Barack Obama says the U.S. is providing an additional $195 million in humanitarian and food aid to Syrian rebels.

That means the U.S. has now sent more than $1 billion in humanitarian aid since the two-year Syrian civil war started.

Obama is timing the new aid to coincide with Eid al-Fitr, a holiday marking the end of Ramadan, Islam's holy month of fasting.

Obama says many Americans have celebrated Ramadan with Muslims. He says millions in Syria are displaced and that the U.S. wants to help.

The humanitarian aid follows recent approval of a U.S. aid package of weapons to Syrian rebels aimed at reversing recent battlefield gains by President Bashar Assad.

The White House issued the statement Wednesday while Obama was traveling in California.

  14. It just keeps getting weirder and weirder out there....

    http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/1.540045

One of the U.S. officials described the new generation explosive as "ingenious," while another said it would be undetectable under current security processes.

The liquid explosive is believed to be the brainchild of the Yemen-based affiliate Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the officials told ABC News. This affiliate is home to Ibrahim al-Asiri, a master bombmaker, who was on the 25 "most wanted terrorist" list published by the Yemeni government.

A number of U.S. embassies in the region were closed Sunday after the U.S. intercepted communications between the leadership of AQAP and Al-Qaida's remaining leadership in Pakistan, which suggested a major operation was underway, according to senior U.S. officials. The diplomatic posts are expected to remain closed this week.

  15. This sucks for Rodgers. Well, last year he was the most sacked QB in the league and played the best at his position (in my opinion). Hopefully Lacy is productive and can take some off that slack off of Rodgers. That would definitely help.

True. I remember last year after the Colts/Packers game when we made the comeback. One of our d lineman said they did not respect the Packers run game after halftime and just went after Rodgers.
