  1. Don't worry, they wont be ranked much higher lol. I have a bit of bias towards them since I'm a fan of them but I don't think they'll be quite as bad as everyone is predicting us to be. I don't have us winning more than 4-5 games though
  2. #30 is up, Cleveland also at 3-13
  3. Team #31 is up, NY Jets also at 3-13 Hopefully a mod can change the title, I was going to update it as I went to track my progress but unfortunately I didn't know we were unable to edit the title after we started the thread
  4. I'm not making 32 different threads haha, just updating this one when as I go. This is gonna be the thread I use for all the power rankings that I create Also, working on team #31 right now, expect a turnout shortly

  7. I'm not talking about a specific franchise that has done it throughout their history. I'm more talking about a team in a particular year that acquired players, had lofty expectations, and completely failed to live up to them, resulting in the blowing up of the team. The first one that comes to my mind is the Dream Team. Let's take a look at each of those big acquisitions and where they are now: Nnamdi Asomugha - was arguably the best CB in the league at the time, woulda been a great fit in either Houston, Dallas, or back in Oakland. Philly signing him fixed a problem that didn't need to be fixed, as he excels in man coverage, while the Eagles played a lot of zone. Released this offseason, on a 1 year minimum contract with San Francisco, isn't even guaranteed to make the roster Jason Babin - was regarded as a sack monster and lived up to expectations in 2011, recording 18 sacks; however, struggled against the run in general. Released during the 2012 season, though this was more of a business decision than a performance related decision, as Babin is 32 and the Eagles were entering rebuilding mode DRC - Good cover corner, Pro Bowler in 2009, not a great tackler. Acquired in the Kevin Kolb trade in what was originally thought to be a huge steal, but he only played 2 seasons, recording only 3 INTs during that time period. Currently with the Broncos on a short term deal Vince Young - The player that self proclaimed the "Dream Team", signed for less money to be a backup in Philly, despite the fact that he could have gone to NUMEROUS teams that needed a starting caliber QB that year. Was released the following season, was out of the league until Green Bay signed him as a backup Cullen Jenkins - Big part of the defensive line that helped Green Bay win it all in 2010, signed a 5 year deal during the 2011 offseason. Actually wasn't bad, recording 9.5 sacks over 2 seasons at DT, but was released this offseason and is with the Giants on a 3 year contract now Steve Smith - IMO, this was the most POINTLESS signing by the Eagles that offseason. Smith had been a 107 catch receiver and a Pro Bowler just 2 seasons prior to this, and even though he had injury troubles, was still a solid #2 option at WR for just about any team. Could have easily gone to a team that needed him, such as the Jaguars or the Bengals. Why would the Eagles sign a WR and not use him at all?! At any rate, Smith only recorded 11 receptions all season, fizzled out with the Rams the following season, and then retired this offseason. He really could have had a much more productive career if he never went to Philly, I guarantee it Ronnie Brown - was a decent starter before the came to Philly on a 1 year deal, carried the ball maybe every other game once he got there. Signed with the Chargers the following offseason and is their 3rd down back now Aside from the Dream Team though, another classic example was the 2000 Redskins. They acquired Deion Sanders, Mark Carrier, Jeff George, and Bruce Smith during the offseason and were the favorites to win it all. They started out 6-2 before falling to 7-8 and out of the playoffs completely, leading to the premature retirement of Sanders and Carrier, and the team never really recovered after that. It would be another 5 seasons before they would get back to the playoffs and another 12 before they won an NFC East title

    Ravens sign Brandon Stokley

Somehow, Brandon Stokley manages to keep sticking around year after year, right when you think he's about to retire. Hopefully this is his last stop, as he will have come full circle in his career since he started back in Baltimore in 1999
  9. How the Lions Could Have Won Super Bowl 30 Note: For the record again, I am not a Lions fan, especially with my favorite team in the same division. This article is written solely from a reflective point of view It's time for another one of my "Fourth Dimension" segments, one of my "What If" moments. All you need is an open mind and the ability to look at things from a different perspective. Before saying "LOL @ the Lions winning the Super Bowl" or immediately shooting this notion down, read what I have to say During the 1995 season, the Lions started out 3-6 but completely changed their identity by winning their last 7 games in dominating fashion. They were easily the hottest team in the league at the time and finished the season with a 37-10 blowout over the Bucs, putting them in perfect position to grab the NFC Central title if Green Bay lost the following day at Pittsburgh. Well, the Steelers did their best, giving the Packers everything they had that day It all came down to 1 final play. 24-19 Green Bay. 4th and Goal from the 6. 12 seconds left. Neil O'Donnell dropped back to pass, made the read, and found Yancey Thigpen on a flag route all alone in the end zone for what would have been the easiest touchdown of his career And he dropped it That drop was an absolute gem for the Packers, who escaped out of Lambeau with a 24-19 win and their first divisional title in over 20 years. This put the Packers at 11-5 and Detroit at 10-6. The Packers would gain the #3 seed and defeat Atlanta the next week in the Wild Card round en route to the NFC Championship game, while the Lions experienced one of the most humiliating post season defeats in NFL history, being down 51-7 at one point in the 3rd quarter at the hands of the Eagles before losing 58-37. But this could have ALL ended up completely different And it all starts with Yancey Thigpen NOT dropping the easiest touchdown pass of his life... Here's my take on it: First off, Pittsburgh would have walked out of there with a 25-24 win. This moves the Steelers to 12-4 and the Packers to 10-6. Now, the Steelers had already been penciled in as the #2 seed in the AFC, so nothing would have changed out there. However, the Packers' loss would have given the NFC Central title to the Lions, moving them to the #3 seed and the Packers all the way down to the #5 seed. This would have changed the first round matchups dramatically. Instead of the Lions going on the road to face the Eagles, they would have hosted a home playoff game against the Falcons, while the Packers would have gone on the road to face the Eagles The Lions were 7-1 at home that year and had a tremendous home field advantage, and although they had lost to the Falcons earlier that year, that was at the Georgia Dome and was their last loss of the season up to that point. They had reeled off 7 straight wins after that game and with the rematch being at the Silverdome, it's pretty conceivable to think that the Lions not only would have taken that game, but would have blown out the Falcons. Now the Packers would have been ok going on the road to face the Eagles, given that the Eagles, while having a 10-6 record, had a -20 point differential IRL, the Lions lost in a blowout to the Eagles, 58-37, but that only because everything went right for the Eagles, it simply just wasn't Detroit's day. I personally still believe that if Lomas Brown keeps his mouth shut the week before the game, the Lions win that game. Scott Mitchell threw 4 INTs that day, but only 1 of them was his fault at all; all the other passes were tipped off of the hands of the receivers, who could not catch anything thrown to them that day. This game was simply a case of nothing at all going right for the Lions on unfamiliar territory. If the Eagles had faced off against the Packers, things would have ended much differently. The Packers had the MVP Brett Favre, who had thrown 38 touchdowns to 13 interceptions that year. So let's go ahead and assume that the Packers take care of business in Philly and move on to the divisional round This creates some very interesting divisional matchups. The Lions would have gone on the road to face the 49ers, while the Packers would have headed South to play the Cowboys. The Lions had already beaten the 49ers earlier that year on Monday Night Football, so there's no reason at all to think they couldn't do it again. IRL, Green Bay tore apart San Francisco in the divisional round, and Steve Young was forced to throw the ball 64 times. The Lions likely would have done the same thing with a dominant pass rush comprised of Robert Porcher, Henry Thomas, and Tracy Scroggins (both Thomas and Scroggins had double digit sack totals that season). Meanwhile, the Packers lost IRL in the NFC Championship game to the Cowboys, so that game likely has the same outcome, a Packers loss, setting up an NFC Championship Game between the Lions and Cowboys Now, this is where things get interesting. While the Cowboys were 12-4 and had earned the #1 seed that year, this was by far the weakest team out of the 3 teams that had won the Super Bowl in the 90s. This was no powerhouse team coached by Jimmy Johnson. This was a squad barely kept together by Barry Switzer, a squad who just weeks earlier, people weren't even sure if they would win their own division. They basically lucked into the #1 spot, winning their last 2 games against the Giants (a 1 point win btw) and the Cardinals, 2 teams that had won a combined 9 games that season. Meanwhile, both the Eagles and the 49ers lost games in the final week of the season that would have knocked Dallas down in the standings, from the #2 seed to possibly as far down as the #4 seed. The Cowboys merely coasted to the finish line, even the Cowboys players themselves said that "they just wanted to get out of the season". The Cowboys even won the Super Bowl IRL because of luck. If Larry Brown doesnt happen to be in the right place at the right time TWICE, he doesn't pick off poorly thrown passes by Neil O'Donnell The Lions would have been a tough matchup for Dallas. Detroit had arguably the best offense in the league that year. Scott Mitchell easily had the best year of his career, throwing for 4338 yards as well as 32 TDs to only 12 INTs. Barry Sanders was still Barry Sanders, rushing for 1500 yards. But the Lions receivers had maybe the best season by a WR duo in the history of the league. Herman Moore set an NFL record by catching 123 passes, but his dominance didn't stop there. Most possession receivers don't average more than 10-11 yards a catch. Moore averaged 13.7. He also racked up 1686 yards and 14 TDs in the best year of his career. But his counterpart, Brett Perriman, wasn't far behind him at all. Perriman was just as dominant that year, catching 108 passes for 1488 yards and 9 TDs. The Lions WR core would have given the Cowboys fits, just as the Packers did IRL in the NFC Championship Game that year But the biggest thing about the Lions that year is that they were not indicative of their record. I personally believe they were better than their 10-6 record, they lost a ton of close games that year and was a big part of why they started 3-6. They only had 2 losses that season by double digits, and both of them were by 10 points and 12 points to teams with winning records. Look at some of their other losses that year. 23-20 to the Steelers on a last second field goal. 20-17 to the Cardinals in their only home loss of the year in a 4th quarter comeback. 30-21 to the Packers at Lambeau. 36-30 to the Redskins in overtime. They were a team that had bad luck at the beginning of the year, but they also tended to play to the competition of their teams. They beat great teams that year when they had to the most, and with the Lions with their backs against the wall, I predict they would have gone ahead and beaten the overrated Cowboys in that game, advancing them to the Super Bowl to match up against Pittsburgh This would have been a very interesting Super Bowl. The Lions had lost to the Steelers in Week 1 that year, but it was on a last second field goal, in one of the Lions' many close losses that year. After reeling off 10 straight wins, I don't see the Lions stopping in that Super Bowl or folding by any means. While the Steelers' defense would have been a great matchup for the Lions, the Lions defense was also a good matchup for the Steelers' offense. The Lions had an aggressive pass rush, but also had an underrated secondary as well. Safety Willie Clay had easily the best season of his career, picking off 8 passes for a combined 173 return yards, while cornerback Corey Raymond intercepted 6 of his own. They also had Ryan McNeil on the other side, who while still developing, was turning into a shutdown corner of his own and would later go on to lead the NFL in interceptions So there's 3 ways this could have gone if Yancey Thigpen had held onto that TD pass. One would be a 49ers repeat. Another would be the Steelers winning their 5th Super Bowl. But the one I think would have happened is that the Lions would have gone all the way in 1995. This was their year to do it, they had the offensive firepower to do so and a fairly well-balanced defense Crazy? Maybe. Unreal? Without a doubt. Insane? Possibly. Inconceivable? Hardly at all And all of this because Yancey Thigpen dropped the easiest pass of his career...

East Coast Rap vs West Coast Rap?

Just to clarify, I was referring to the 90s, when the East Coast vs West Coast rivalry was at its height. I don't listen to much of today's music at all, so I can't form an accurate opinion on that, but I agree with whoever said that Jay Z has fallen off. We can all agree that he's fallen off big time since he "retired"

    MLB 2013 Regular Season thread

Look at that, Rays are 66-46 and in 2nd place all of a sudden after being in the bottom half of the AL East for the first part of the season. This is why I stuck with my prediction all the way through the season that the Rays would win the AL East. This is why I didn't budge from it. They're currently one of the hottest teams in baseball and Evan Longoria is arguably the best 3B in the game (and my favorite player too). It's funny, last season, the Rays were 90-72 and sitting at home in October, while the Tigers were 88-74 and in the World Series just because they played in a crappy division. I knew the Rays success would carry over to this year. If only they could get people to show up for their games... Rays @ Dodgers on Sunday Night Baseball is going to be one hell of a matchup. 2 teams in baseball that EVERYONE said was out of it in May and are currently storming towards the playoffs. Both teams I picked to win their respective divisions, they started out slow and nobody gave them a chance when they were "out of it" at the beginning of the season, and now everyone is about to eat their words. Can't fucking wait for this matchup
  12. It's getting ridiculous how theyre cracking down on all of this. First there was banning end zone celebrations way back in 06 and it was basically all down hill from there...

Team That Killed the Most Careers?

I do see your point, for example Brown only gained like 700 yards on 200 carries the year before in Miami so it's not like he was going to go anywhere else and be a productive running back. But Smith was still a productive receiver with the Giants the year before, he had 48 rec for 529 yards in only 9 games the year before with the Giants, he was still very much a reliable #2 option and solid possession receiver, he didn't fit the Eagles scheme at all. IMO that was the biggest signing that made no sense to me Young wasn't anything special at the time, so I dont completely blame him for going to Philly, but let's not forget, he did lead the Titans to a 5-2 start (though they lost their last 3 games with him under center before he got injured), threw 10 TDs to only 3 INTs, and had a passer rating of 98. He could have started for teams that needed a stop gap QB at the time
  15. It's time for another one of my "Fourth Dimension" segments, one of my "What If" moments. This one is more up-to-date, so you all should be more familiar with this one. All you need is an open mind and the ability to look at things from a different perspective. Let's get it started. Week 1 of the 2010 NFL season. We all know that the Bears got bailed out at the end of that game by a call that, while technically correct, was pretty stupid. After being ruled that Johnson didn't complete the entire process of the catch, the Bears escaped with a 19-14 win while the Lions lost the first of 4 straight to open the season. This eventually led to the Bears winning the NFC North and earning the #2 seed en route to the NFC Championship game, while the Lions finished 6-10. But what if the refs HAD ruled it a touchdown? Here's my take on it: First off, Detroit would have walked out of Soldier Field that day with a 20-19 win. Now this doesn't change much for the Lions, who still end up at 7-9 and in 3rd place in the NFC North that season. But it changes things in the rest of the NFC dramatcially. You're probably thinking, "It's just one game in Week 1, there's no way it could affect the rest of the season!" Well, you're wrong Instead of the Bears being 11-5, they would have been 10-6 and ended up tied with the Packers for the division at the end of the year. 10 wins doesn't guarantee anything anymore, especially in the NFC. The Bears couldn't even get into the playoffs this year with 10 wins. And while the Bears won the division IRL because of a tiebreaker, that tiebreaker would have gone away due to the loss against the Lions. The Bears' divisional record would have gone from 5-1 to 4-2, the same as the Packers'. So this means the next tiebreaker would have gone to conference record, where the Packers held a 9-3 record. The Bears? They would have been 8-4 with the loss to the Lions, giving the division to the Packers So while the Packers would have jumped from the #6 seed to the #2 seed, the Bears would fall from the #2 seed all the way to the #7 seed and out of the playoffs. This leaves the door open for the Giants to get in as the #6 seed due to their win over the Bears in Week 4 that year. And this changes a lot in the NFC playoffs. Instead of hosting the Packers, the Eagles would have hosted the Giants, who they had swept that season, while the Packers would have been at home with a 1st round bye. Now, the Eagles had already beaten the Giants twice that season, including the 28 point 4th quarter outburst just a couple of weeks ago, so let's assume they take care of business and move on to the divisional round Now, due to the seeding, the playoff matchups also change. Instead of facing a red-hot Packers team, the Falcons instead host the 7-9 Seahawks, while the Eagles go into Green Bay. While the Packers did win it all in 2010, this was with the "us against the world" mentality. In this situation, they're no longer fighting for their playoff lives week in and week out, and they're not coming out pressured to win. And no, GB having home-field advantage doesn't guarantee anything by any means. Look at what the Giants did to them on their Super Bowl run. They went into Lambeau and destroyed them, and this was the 15-1 Packers too. This wasn't the Packers team that was considered lucky to be in the playoffs in the first place. Also, given the Eagles' new momentum with Vick at QB, and their explosive ability on offense, I'll go ahead and say that the Eagles beat the Packers similar to the way that the Packers beat the Eagles IRL. In Atlanta, the Falcons easily beat down on the Seahawks to advance to the NFC Championship Game This creates one of the most interesting championship games in NFL history: dogfighter against his old team. And how it would it have turned out? Given that Matt Ryan is 28-3 as a starter at home, and the Falcons' balanced offensive attack, I have them winning it. Their pass rush would have been the deciding factor in forcing Vick to get rid of the ball earlier than normal And Super Bowl 45? Steelers vs Falcons. While the Steelers won IRL 15-9 in Week 1, this was a defensive struggle in which the Falcons failed to score a touchdown. I predict the rematch would have gone differently. The Falcons likely would have used their ground attack to wear away and they would have gotten it together offensively. Let's not forget, they were 13-3 and had the best record in the league that year. So I predict that they could have held up their #1 seed and won it all that year if they hadn't had to face the Packers in the playoffs And that's how everything could have changed if the refs had made the right call...
  16. Earlier tonight, me, Jay24, Cameron, and InvHaden all ran an NFL draft similar to how fantasy would be picked. We all chose 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, a TE, and a defense. Here's how they turned out: Jay24: QB: Peyton Manning RB: Frank Gore RB: LeSean McCoy WR: Calvin Johnson WR: Reggie Wayne WR: AJ Green TE: Vernon Davis Defense: Houston Texans Cameron: QB: Tom Brady RB: Adrian Peterson RB: Jamal Charles WR: Andre Johnson WR: Brandon Marshall WR: Vincent Jackson TE: Jimmy Graham Defense: Chicago Bears InvHaden: QB: Aaron Rodgers RB: Arian Foster RB: Ray Rice WR: Thomas WR: Dez Bryant WR: Victor Cruz TE: Gronk Defense: Seahawks Mentch: QB: Matt Ryan RB: Marshawn Lynch RB: Doug Martin WR: Larry Fitzgerald WR: Julio Jones WR: Hakeem Nicks TE: Jason Witten Defense: 49ers Which user posted the best draft, and which user posted the 2nd best draft? IMO it goes like this: 1. Cameron 2. InvHaden 3. Jay 4. Mentch Cameron killed it though

  18. Mine is 82, which I just achieved tonight. I was on absolutely fire tonight, I scored 82, 77, and 80 the 3 times I played. Before that it was 64 though
  19. I think Andre Miller should have made an ASG throughout his career, he was so damn consistent and you could even say he still has it at his age right now. Great floor general and one of the best slow motion players of all time, his basketball IQ is the reason hes been so consistent for so long. If he could shoot 3s, he would have been a star Richard Jefferson should have made an appearance during either the 04-05 or 07-08 season, when he averaged 22-23 points a game. He was a great dunker back then but this was when he could also shoot as well. He hasn't been the same since he went to San Antonio I also think Al Jefferson and Josh Smith should have made an appearance by now. Jefferson may be somewhat of a 1 way player but you can always count on him for around 20 points and 10 rebounds a night, and Smith is super versatile both offensively and defensively, he shoulda made an appearance in both 2009-10 and 2011-12

    Bears Floor/Ceiling?

Fixed the coding issue. Yeah, I agree with yall though. This team either has the potential to be a playoff team or a team picking near the top of the draft. I heard somebody say they would go 3-13 though, personally I think that this team is too good to only have 3 wins. But yeah, like you guys said as well, 5-11/6-10 as the floor, 10-6/11-5 as the ceiling

Top 10 NBA players at each position

Great lists, I agree with a lot of it. Some things I'd like to point out:- I dont consider Duncan a PF, as just about all of his minutes were played at C last year. Even if he was a PF though, I wouldn't have him as the #1 PF in the league, he's simply too old and isn't even the best player on his own team anymore - After last year and his Finals performance, I'm not sure you can rank Ginobili in the top 5 anymore. I have him around 8 or 9 - I personally think Tyson is overrated, as his post game is nonexistent - SF has easily become the deepest position in the league. This one isnt criticism, I was just pointing that out Other than that, nice work
