Joe Paterno's name removed from Big Ten trophy

Big Ten commisioners decided that it would inappropriate to have Joe Paterno's name on Big Ten trophy so they're gonna remove it...What are your thoughts on this...?

I don't think it actually serves a purpose. Is it meant to punish a guy that just got fired from doing what he loves? Is it meant to punish a guy that's been demonized by so many people? Who really cares if his name is on a trophy. He's been the coach all year, are they going to pretend like they just didn't have a head coach this year?

This is getting out of hand. Paterno's firing is arguable and can have cases made for both sides of the argument. There is absolutely no reason to remove Paterno's name from the trophy other than to personally hurt him, to hurt his reputation, and to hurt the school. The guys 84 years old, he's lost his job, and will now be forever remembered for this scandal. Let it go..

There is a portion of the grand jury report that has not been released to the general public. I think as the months go by we'll gain a better understanding of the actions taken by Penn State and the Big 10 now. With people separating themselves from the Paterno name, he may be more deeply rooted in this thing than just "failing to report a single incident". Joe Paterno has hired one of the nation's best defense attorneys, obviously preparing himself for some type of legal battle.
