Trident's 2012 MLB Award Ballot

Recommended Posts

Just a quick note. When it comes to MVP awards, how good the player's team was means absolutely nothing to me. It's an award for the player most valuable to his team. The best player in his league. That's what matters. Run production is also a big deal for me. Runs = wins. Therefore, run production = value.

For the Cy Youngs, I put a lot of stock in sample size. This is why you won't see any reliever on the Cy Young ballots. Pitchers who pitch more innings and keep up the same form of dominance should be favored.

Comeback player of the year for me is about coming back from a struggling year moreso than one where you were injured, but when someone comes back from injury and has a career year, I can make an exception.

Manager of the year to me is all about turn around and overcoming adversity. Taking a last place club to the playoffs will land you on my list, as well as taking over a championship team who lost its star player and leading them back to the promised land.

For the record, I didn't weigh the Comeback awards solely based on WAR differential. AJ Pierzynski and Joe Mauer both had higher WAR differentials than Fernando Rodney but I put him on my ballot based on the epicness of the year he had.
