Bay 2,003 Posted June 12, 2013 Here we are a day away from the Stanley Cup Final between the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks. Here's how I break it down: Goaltending: Boston. Tuukka Rask has been phenomenal in these playoffs and is easily the stronger of the two tenders. Offense: Chicago. Patty Kane, Johnny Toews, Patrick Sharp, Marion Hossa, nuff said. Way more of a threat to put up a crooked number than the likes of Bergeron, Krejci, Marchand, Seguin, Jagr and co. Defense: Boston. This is close but the Bruins have the better core of defenders and some guys who can flat out shoot the puck. I like the likes of Chara, Seidenberg, Krug, McQuad over Seabrook, Keith, Oduya and co. Special Teams: Chicago. The best penalty kill in the playoffs with a struggling Power Play just like Boston's which is normal at this stage. Chicago's power play can also click at any time with the fire power they can throw out there. Secondary Scoring/Depth: Chicago. With guys like Bryan Bickell, Michael Handzus, Andrew Shaw, Michael Frolik, Brandon Saad who had a nice rookie year. When their big guys aren't going they can get scoring from these guys, and if everyone is contributing that makes for a scary thought. What this tells me if that this series should go to a minimum of 5 games. But in all likelihood we will see a 6 or 7 game Final. Btw this might be the biggest post I've ever made on this site. LOL. I don't really like typing out big entries.
housemd 338 Posted June 12, 2013 Bruins defense is the X factor of this series. They held the best offense in hockey to just two goals (and Malkin and Crosby pointless) and if they repeat the ECF performance against the Blackhawks, the Cup is back to Boston.
