Big Match-ups in Week 4

Recommended Posts

Sunday

Texans @ Falcons

Why We'll be Watching:

Julio Jones versus a struggling Texans' secondary is intriguing enough as is, but you factor in a tough 1-2 Houston team looking to stave off a dreaded 1-3 record, and you've got a desperate team looking to remind us that the Falcons' 3-0 record is rather misleading. Matty Ice and the Dirty Birds, on the other hand, want to win this game convincingly to show us all that they're for real. We'll see who prevails.

Prediction:

27-17, Falcons. I'm still not going to be sold on Atlanta, but they're good enough to beat backup-level quarterbacks like Weeden, Mallet, Hoyer, etc.

Giants @ Bills

Why We'll be Watching:

Don't even pretend that you aren't paying attention to what Tyrod Taylor is doing in Buffalo. The Buffalo quarterback is efficient, mobile, and savvy enough to put up great statlines week in and week out. He's a FanDuel stud who spreads the ball around to guys like Charles Clay, Chris Hogan, et al. The Giants come into Sunday's game hungry but clearly not on the same level as Buffalo. Can sheer will power overcome lack of talent? We shall see.

Prediction:

30-20, Bills. The NFC East is just too poor to play with better AFC teams and it'll show in this game. Only Dallas with Tony Romo could go into Buffalo and win this game.

Chiefs @ Bengals

Why We'll be Watching:

Has Andy Dalton truly turned a corner as an NFL QB? Are the Chiefs truly as bad on offense as they appear to be even with their plethora of weapons? This game will go a long way toward revealing the truth for both of these teams. This game will come down to Kansas City containing Cincy's offense, because they will not win if they allow the Bengals to score more than 24 points.

Prediction:

27-20, Bengals. The Chiefs simply are not a good team with their offense playing so poorly, and there's no reason that a trip to Cincinnati should alleviate any of those issues.

Eagles @ Redskins

Why We'll be Watching:

Actually, I see no reason to watch this game unless you absolutely have to. Weak-armed Kirk Cousins against glass-kneed Sam Bradford? No thank you. Neverthless, the winner of this game could be tied for the NFC East lead if Dallas can't find a way to beat the punch-less Saints later.

Prediction:

20-13, Redskins. This will be a game of truly shitty offenses going head to head like two arms in the grip of Ronda Rousey. Pathetic.

Vikings @ Broncos

Why We'll be Watching:

Peyton Manning has now become a Drew Bledsoe level statue when he drops back to pass, and if you hate him, this is the game to watch. Everson Griffin and Anthony Barr should feast on Manning's dinner table sized forehead. Minnesota's run defense likely won't have any of CJ Anderson or Ronnie Hillman, so the Broncos will need to throw to win this game. Unfortunately for the Vikings, their second year quarterback is underwhelming so far this year and has to play the best CB tandem in the league, today. You factor in the losses of Charles Johnson and the likely absence of Jarius Wright--Teddy's favorite target in Minnesota--and it'll up to Adrian Peterson to win this game for the Vikings.

Prediction:

20-17, Vikings. I'm going to throw my team a bone, here. I really don't believe they can win this game unless Teddy shows us something he hasn't, so far. Props to guys like Thanatos who predicted struggles for Bridgewater in his sophomore season.

Cowboys @ Saints

Why We'll be Watching:

The only reason this is a big game is the absence of Tony Romo. Even without him, the Cowboys come into Sunday's game as the better team regardless of whether they face Drew Brees or Luke McCown. They have to find a way to win this game if they want to go into their bye above .500, because the only way they'll beat New England next week is if something shitty happens like JJ Wilcox doing his best Bernard Pollard impression. As a team that should have won last week's game pretty easily, the Cowboys must show up this week and preserve a good record for the off week.

Prediction:

29-20, Cowboys. Here comes a big week from Dan Bailey. I'm calling it a 5 FG week as Dallas settles for whatever Brandon Weeden can give them. Look out for a TD to Terrance Williams and Lance Dunbar dance into the endzone on a dump off.

Monday

Lions @ Seahawks

Why We'll be Watching:

Don't lie--you hate Russell Wilson, too, and want to see the Seahawks fall to 1-3. The Lions are the perfect team to make that happen, as they're desperate for a win and have a good enough defense to make sure that Seattle's offensive struggles continue. Can Seattle get going without Marshawn Lynch? Can Detroit just stop the Joique Bell and Theo Riddick joke and move on with Ameer Abdullah and Zach Zenner in the backfield? Without Bell, look out for Zenner, a South Dakota State product, to get a handful of between-the-tackles carries. That is, if the Lions' coaching staff is smart. They've got their two-headed backfield in place, but they have to drop the worries about them being rookies.

Prediction:

30-17, Lions. Upset alert. The Seahawks will struggle on offense and the Lions will get theirs going. Watch out for the Motor City Kitties--this is the kind of game that could give them momentum.

Yeah, I'm sure a Jim Caldwell coached team that's led by Matthew Stafford will get their offense going with an unproven rookie backfield and drop 30 in Seattle of all places. :yao: Trying to be a little too edgy, Bware.

Just because a team is desperate for a win doesn't mean they won't be dog shit.
