King, Fellowship, then Towers. But those are my three favorite movies ever, so ranking them means very little.
-
QUARTERBACK
3. (Unitas, Manning)
2. (Montana, Young)
1. (Starr, Favre, Rodgers)
My .02 Thought long & hard about putting Dallas in here with Staubach & Aikman.....went with Green Bay because they have three Super Bowl winning QB's even though I think when people think QB I believe the 49ers or Cowboys are the first to come to mind.
RUNNING BACKS
3. (Dickerson, Faulk)
2. (Dorsett, Smith)
1. (Nagurski, Sayers, Payton, Anderson)
My .02 Could flip-flop Dallas & Chicago pretty easily, IMO....Neal Anderson was a very underrated, often forgotten RB....I think if Bo Jackson never got injured, the Raiders would be in the discussion too
TIGHT ENDS
3. (Winslow, Gates)
2. (Ditka, Novachek, Witten)
1. (Barry, Mackey, Clark)
My .02 This one was so hard....TE's have only really become prominent in the last 20 years or so
WIDE RECEIVERS
3. (Swan, Stallworth, Ward)
2. (Hayes, Irvin, Harper, Owens)
1. (Rice, Taylor, Owens)
My .02 Another hard one.....I don't really think one team screams WR-greatness over another since the position is so easily replaceable....
OFFENSIVE LINE
3. (Munchek, Matthews)
2. (Yary, Zimmerman, McDaniel, Hutchinson)
1. (Otto, Upshaw, Shell)
My .02 Another really tough one. But unlike with WRs/TEs, it wasn't because of too few....but rather too many. Miami? Green Bay? The Redskins?.....can't believe the Hogs only have ONE guy in the HoF....Raiders & Vikings have the most lineman in the HoF and if Hutch makes it in, I think the Vikings jump to #1
DEFENSIVE LINEMAN
3. (Olsen, Youngblood, Jones)
2. (Atkins, Hampton, McMicheal, Dent)
1. (Eller, Page, Marshall, Doleman, Millard, Randle, Williams, Allen)
My .02 Other then the Steelers @ LB, I think the Vikings at DL is the easiest no brainer. Every decade since the 70's, the Vikings have had a dominating pass rusher on the DL. And they have more them in the HoF than anybody else.....1989 Chris Doleman had 21 sacks and Keith Millard had 19. Talk about nightmares for opposing QBs.......like the PPE's, the Fearsome Foursome has nearly every member in the HoF and the Bears having Doug Atkins in is the only reason i put the Bears ahead of the Rams....Packers & Cowboys also got some consideration...same with Philly
LINEBACKERS
3. (Huff, Taylor, Carson)
2. (Butkus, Singletary, Wilson, Marshall, Urlacher)
1. (Ham, Lambert, Greene, Lloyd, Brown, Gildon, Kirkland, Porter, Farrior, Harrison)
My .02 Duh, right?.....if we go by specific position, Bears MLB is one of the most prestigious positions in all of sports....The Chiefs barely miss the cut....Bobby Bell, Willie Lanier, Derrick Thomas....Patriots too with Andre Tippett, Nick Bouniconti, Bruschi, McGinnest.....
DEFENSIVE BACKS
3. (Renfro, Walls, Sanders)
2. (Haynes, Tatum, Brown, Woodson)
1. (Lane, Barney, LeBeau)
My .02 Yeah, that's right....the LIONS. What of it?......Eagles have had some real good ones, too....49ers & Vikings.....the Browns had maybe the greatest duo of all-time in Minnifield and Dixon....

I don't care what you heard....I just fucking SAW it on TV....on the NFLN.....Clay Matthews, Aaron Rodgers, and Charles Woodson. All featured...all sitting in the testimonial booth on front of the TV camera. Wikipedia shows McCarthy, so maybe I'm wrong...but they never showed McCarthy on the commercial. Maybe they do four guys. Some episodes have had four.
And no, it's not always the head coach. Belichick was on ONE of the Patriots AG's, not all three. Bill Walsh was on ONE of the 49ers. In fact, of the 45 episodes, coaches have only been in 20 of them.
-
Everybody that I know of that knows Cris Carter or played with him say the same thing: Hall of Fame player, one of the greatest WRs ever.....and.....Hall of Fame prick and one of the biggest self-absorbed assholes ever.
-
A lot of teams have gone to this sort of glittery lacquer on their helmets now, since HDTV has taken over.
-
Jackson has had 5 days to work with this offense Whitehurst has had 1 year and 5 days ill give Jackson some time plus Whitehurst lighting up 3rd stringers does not make me think he needs to start.
Are you talking about the lob pass? I blame the HB on that one i have no idea how he dropped it would have been 7 yards if he could hold on to it.
Besides im not surprised he got sacked a few times Sidney Rice and Mike Williams had minor injurys so his best reciever was Golden Tate which is a bad thing.
Yeah....rationalize and make excuses about Tarvaris Jackson to a Vikings fan. Solid move, bro.

- A&M and FSU to the SEC
- OU and OKState to PAC-10
- Texas goes Independent

Just saw an advert on NFLN for it. Airs September 7th and the panel is Clay, A-Rod, and Woodson.

If A&M-to-SEC domino tips, could ‘Noles be next?Posted by John Taylor on August 12, 2011, 12:00 PM EDT
We, or more specifically I, have regarded it as a foregone conclusion that if — again stressing the word “if” — Texas A&M were to pull the trigger on a move to the SEC, it would be the first but certainly not the last expansion move for the conference.
It’s almost unimaginable that the SEC would add A&M and only A&M, leaving the conference at an uneven 13 teams. Instead, A&M would likely be the first domino to fall on the way to, eventually, 16 teams. The question if the Aggie assumptions come to fruition then becomes, who’s next? Some of the more popular names spit out by the rumor mill during this latest round of conference apocalypse include Oklahoma, Virginia Tech and Florida State. And, as luck would have it, one of those schools is the subject of the latest “official” speculation.
Tom D’Angelo of the Palm Beach Post is the most recent media entity to throw a few gallons of fuel on the expansion fire, writing Friday morning that “Florida State officials have been flirting with the SEC for several months and the discussion now are getting more serious.”
The source added ominously, at least for the ACC, that “[t]his is real,” referring to FSU’s apparent serious interest in jumping to the SEC. It’s also implied in the Post‘s piece that FSU’s move to the SEC would be predicated on A&M first becoming the 13th team in the conference, setting the stage for the ‘Noles to become the 14th. And, our words here, clearing the deck for a 15th and 16th team to be added not long after, as well as the Big Ten and Pac-12 responding in kind in short order.
For what it’s worth, the SEC has yet to publicly confirm or deny A&M’s reported interest in joining the conference. It’s expected the same tack will be taken when it comes to the rumors now suddenly swirling around the Seminoles.
One thing’s for certain: we should have a clearer handle on this latest expansion situation no later than Aug. 22 when A&M regents are expected to not only take up the SEC issue, but possibly vote on an application to move from the Big 12 to a new conference.

Both sides have flirted with this idea for years now.....get 'er done.

Good to see T-Jax still can't hide a WIDE OPEN guy in the flats, 5 fucking yards away....and still decides that heaving the ball into the air wildly is a better choice than just eating the sack.
Yep. You got a winner there, Seattle....lol

Honestly, is anybody surprised to hear this? "Work ethic" and "Vince Young" are two phrases nobody has ever put together in a sentence before.

Just watched the first 7 episodes of Shameless. Emmy Rossum is hot and has some good sex scenes and William H Macy is great.

@FSUViking : Because Donovan McNabb is going to win you a Superbowl, right? You can hire all the aging QBs you want but it won't make you suck any less. With Rice and all the other aqcuisitions we've made, I like our chances, even with Jackson at the helm, much better than yours. Maybe you should go pay Favre another twenty million dollars to come out of retirement for you again? That worked out well last year, didn't it?
Did I say that? Did the words "super bowl" come out of my mouth? I said the Vikings would be 8-8 shithead. Look it up. It's back one page. Make the effort to get some facts before spewing some grade school retort out of your ass.
You should like your chances more. Seattle plays in, year in and year out, the worst division in football. EVERY fucking year. The Vikings play in a division that has the two teams that played in the NFC Championship Game. By that definition alone, your "chances" are better. Better for what, though?
If he was just makign observations that would be one thing, but his posts sound alot more like he's laughing in our faces for having any faith in T-Jack. I don't mind discussing strengths and weaknesses. The whole reason I came here was to debate football, but LSUViking's posts weren't made to debate whether T-Jack could become decent or not. they were just basically "Lol your QB sucks and so do you". Which no, he doesn't have the right to sya about people. If he'd said "Taking Tavaris Jackson was a horrible idea and here's why that would have been one thing. But all he said was basically that we'd never see a winning season with TJack and were fools to think otherwise. He wants to talk crap about my Qb, i'll talk crap about his right back.
I was laughing in your face. And I will continue to do so. Every week. All season long. Until Charlie Whitehurt take sover the starting job. Which WILL happen. I'm guessing by week 7, when Jackson either gets knocked the fuck out because he can't understand the concept of sliding...or when he has another 3 interception game and makes throws a highs chool QB wouldn't even make.
And when did I say you suck? I don't know shit about you. Stop being so fucking sensitive and making shit up.
I'll name 32 QB's I'd take over Jackson, including one on your own team. So yeah...I'm gonna talk shit about a bad QB that I had to watch up close and personal for the last four years. Deal with it.
-
9-7 if we can get average QB play from Tarvaris and yea i do have hope that he can be atleast that its not like he doesn't have the tools to be ok.
On what planet does an average Tarvaris Jackson get you 9 wins? An extremely lucky and career season out of him might get you 7.
Maybe its just me but I really dont think the Vikings gave T-Jack enough time to prove himself. Hes good but he still has something to work on but T-Jack pretty much got screwed when Favre came out of retirement. I have a feeling we will see what T-Jack is capable of doing now that he is playing for the Hawks....
Bullshit. He had every chance in the world and failed. Tarvaris is the REASON they went after Favre. Twice. He sucked playing indoors with Adrian Peterson, Shiancoe, Harvin, and Rice and a Top 10 defense. I'm sure he'll light fucking world on fire in Seattle. I guess he'll just magically stop staring down his WRs and the jump passes and all the other stupid shit he's done for 4 years.

I am going to see Conan when it comes out. It looks awesome.

Where did I say he stays with the Cards? I'm thinking he will go to a team who is built to win now.
Define "now." The Vikings were 5-11 last year. The year before that they were overtime away from the Super Bowl. "Now" in the NFL lasts about as long as it takes to type the word.
Fitzgerald said he loves what the team has done in acquiring guys like Kolb, and I believe him. While I think we would all love to play in our hometown, Fitz seems to have that rare quality of staying committed to the franchise that drafted him, so long as they stay committed to winning. Of course, the Kolb experiment could fail epically, which would probably make Fitzgerald change his mind.
I believe that too, but when you're a free agent in 7 months and you're hometown team is gearing up to come at you and your family expects you to sign.....
-
THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!!!!!! PERIOD!!!!!!
The Cardinals are fully aware of the huge value that Fitz produces for the team, but also for the community at large. They would cut 12+ players to get him signed to a long term contract. Plus, he has said on record many times in the past that he loves playing for the Arizona Cardinals, and wants to finish his NFL career there. Anybody who says otherwise can go and fuck off!!!!
Wow, kid. Settle the fucking hell down. Cutting 12+ players is mathematically impossible. You would either have too few players to complete an NFL roster or you'd have to cut players actually worth a shit to make that stupid theory come true.
Lots of players say they love whatever city and team they play for. Doesn't mean shit. Have you followed sports for longer than 10 minutes?
I would respect him wanting to play for his hometown team but I see Fitzgerald as a guy who would like to experience some more success and possibly reach a ring after coming up just short in '08. The Vikes just don't have that in the making right now.
Well, the Cardinals are still the Cardinals. They couldn't even win the worst fucking division on the history of football last year. He would experience more success playing with Harvin, AP, and a Top 10 defense then he will with Kevin "Scott Mitchell" Kolb in Arizona.

Larry Fitzgerald Sr. says that Larry Jr. “always wanted to be a Viking”Posted by Mike Florio on August 5, 2011, 7:53 AM EDT
Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald is entering the final year of his contract, and the Cardinals having no way to keep him from leaving after the season, since the contract prevents the team from using the franchise tag on the 2004 first-rounder. As a result, Cardinals G.M. Rod Graves recently told PFT Live that the franchise’s top priority at this point will be to sign Fitzgerald to a long-term extension before the regular season starts.
Some believe that Fitzgerald’s top alternative will be to return home to Minnesota and play for the Vikings. One person with unique access to Fitzgerald’s thought processes has provided some insight into that theory.
Appearing on ESPN Radio Los Angeles with Max Kellerman and Marcellus Wiley, Larry Fitzgerald Sr. had this to say when asked about the possibility, via SportsRadioInterviews.com: “No. The Vikings are clearing cap space I have heard that but Larry has to make that decision. This is his life and he has always wanted to be a Viking because he is a Viking. He was a ball boy and that type of thing. He loves playing in Arizona, he’s valued in that community, and he’s a Cardinal.”
So what would it take for Larry Jr. to be a Viking? “[T]he Cardinals would have to fall on their face,” Larry Sr. said.
One of the hosts then said that connecting the dots takes Larry Jr. back to Minnesota. “Well yeah he always wanted to be a Viking growing up. He got drafted by a Viking. Dennis Green left Minnesota and went to Arizona.”
Moving forward, the Cardinals should make their best offer to Fitzgerald sooner rather than later, especially with more than $14 million in cap room as of Thursday. If they can’t work it out with Larry Jr., then they should trade him to Minnesota now and get something in return.
We know it sounds far-fetched, but when Larry Sr. points out that the “Vikings are clearing cap space,” it sounds like something could possibly happen before 2012.

It's long been rumored (and hoped) that Fitz would someday don the purple & gold. He still lives here in the off-season and has his football camps and off-season programs at the U of MN. I see it as a long shot but you never know.

Under/Over; One month before another Steelers player bitches about Roger Goodell.
Seriously, you get paid millions of dollars to play a game, quit complaining. Sure, Goodell is a shit commissioner, but there's a season. You agreed to play. It's not like you're being forced.
Under. Way under. I fully expect another vagina full of sand before the weekend ends.

You know it's training camp when:
- everybody freaks out over how poorly the offense is playing
- everybody goes nuts about how awesome their defense is playing
It's the same broken record every summer.
