I admit I always overestimate Green Bay because they have Aaron Rodgers. (Seriously, is healthy? Is he going to get healthy?) As PD said, their upcoming schedule will tell us a lot. As exciting as their win over the 49ers was, it's not too impressive to narrowly beat such a lowly team--at home, so I understand the overrated claims.

I think the league is in an interesting place right now with so many good-not-elite teams, so I'm gonna hash this out to see what everything looks like. Rams (7-0) Chiefs (6-1) Patriots (5-2) Saints (5-1) Chargers (5-2) Packers (3-2-1) Vikings (4-2-1) Panthers (4-2) Steelers (3-2-1) Bengals (4-3) Redskins (4-2) Ravens (4-3) Bears (3-3) Texans (4-3) Titans (3-4) Eagles (3-4) Lions (3-3) Dolphins (4-3) Seahawks (3-3) Bucs (3-3) Jaguars (3-4) Falcons (2-4) Browns (2-4-1) Cowboys (3-4) Broncos (3-4) Jets (3-4) Colts (2-5) Bills (2-5) 49ers (1-6) Giants (1-5) Raiders (1-5) Cardinals (1-6)

I'll be shocked if this isn't a close game. Cam Newton's scrambling ability WILL give the Eagles' defense fits. They struggled with Marcus Mariota's scrambling and are fragile in the secondary as is. Like many close games games, this will come down to the red zone. Which team will score TDs instead of kicking FGs?
-
Huge game for both teams. Either the Panthers fall to 3-3 or the Eagles fall to 3-4. (Or they both fall to 3-2-1 and 3-3-1, respectively).

Love the idea of assigning a state's electoral votes proportionally to percentage of votes, F4E.

The problem is Dallas isn't likely to lure a bright young offensive mind so they can be a puppet to the Jurrahmeister. That's part of the reason Garrett has stuck around for so long (and why Jimmy Johnson and his 2 championships didn't). Dallas has issues in management as well. Having talents like Dak and Zeke at QB and RB on rookie contracts should be a dream scenario. They should be loading up and going all-in for a Super Bowl like the Rams (and, to a lesser extent, the Eagles) are doing. But they can't because of all the dead cap they have from poor decision-making of the past. The more in control the Jones' are of the Dallas Cowboys, the more they are destined to fail.

1/5 toward being President, yes, but 21% of the electoral votes? Not entirely. Out of the 538 electoral votes, California's 55 is 10.2%, which doesn't sound too bad considering California contains approximately 12.1% of the country's population. So (and I'm genuinely asking here), should each state's electoral representation match its percent of population as closely as possible? It's also worth pointing out that this is mostly a hot talking point right now because liberals are salty of all the rural states that can get 2 Republican senators fairly easily. And it's not a totally invalid point. The Senate has some pretty serious imbalance with regard to population...but then again, wasn't that the point of the Senate? To give each state equal representation no matter what? There's a lot to unpack here.

What's so bad about giving states like California and Texas more electoral power? Why should we care so deeply about enhancing voting power of states where nobody lives? Also the Electoral College isn't forcing politicians to campaign in small states. They will focus the brunt of their campaigning, as usual, in high-population states where the polls are close, the so-called battleground states. The alternative vote for presidents would be great, but it's even more crucial that we stop gerrymandering and get mixed-member representation in Congress. Neither of these things will ever happen though.

Jerry Jones criticized Jason Garrett's OT punt, saying, "We were being outplayed. It's time for risks at that particular time." OK guys, Garrett is toast at season's end, right?

*ohnowesuckagainmeme* I have no idea what's wrong with the Eagles. Championship hangover? They're just not executing. Multiple illegal formation penalties, missed blocks, missed tackles, blown coverages, dropped passes...we've got it all! That being said let's not diminish the fact that the Vikings played a great football game. Kirk Cousins was the bomb dot com. They still have 2 games against the Bears, including week 17, which could decide the division.

Cam made some pretty inexcusable throws in the second half as well. The coaching/time management was terrible but I have multiple concerns about the Panthers right now. Also, huge thank you to Graham Gano because the Panthers were my survival pick in a $3200 pool.

Avalanche 5, Flyers 2. Good game, Bay and other Avs faithfull 'round these parts. Flyers suck. Start tanking now.

Flyers are winning the Stanley Cup, baby. Taking down Vegas is just the beginning, but I'm firing up the hype train now. Let's gooooooooo. (I'll fire up the Fire Hakstol train after our first loss.)

The NFL's new RTP rule is going to hurt the game of football
SteVo replied to Thanatos's topic in General NFL Talk
William Hayes in Miami tore his ACL trying to avoid putting his body weight on Derek Carr during a sack. So...the rule is working, right? -
Ross Tucker summed it up nicely. Leaving at halftime isn't retiring; it's quitting.
-
Indeed. If the Giants had an offensive line, they would be scary. Landon Collins actually said, "If we get the ball in Dak's hands, we have a better chance to win." Your move, Cowboys.
-
This is a pretty huge game for week 2, especially for the Cowboys. If they go 0-2, the heat is ON in Dallas.
-
Joe Flacco is no longer elite.
-
Kirk Cousins Jimmy G

Looks like we can ease up on the Texans hype train.
-
Ok guys let's talk about our first ejection of the season.
-
Brutal opening loss for the Bears, but you've still got to be encouraged by Nagy and Trubisky. Though I do think they should have gone for it on 4th and 1 at the end there. The FG does nothing. You knew Rodgers was going to rip your heart out. Play to win!

Only one game, but hot damn Patrick Mahomes looks good.

Aside from some bad throws, Ryan Tannehill looked pretty sharp. And Frank Gore is still getting it done.
