Idk, I think the AFC West would be an easier division than the NFC West, at least next year.
It definitely would. Nobody doubts what San Francisco is capable of, and both Arizona and Seattle have quietly built good defenses. (We were discussing this in the shoutbox yesterday.) Both those teams are probably a good quarterback and improved offensive line away from contending for a wild card spot. St. Louis, meanwhile, may suck now, but they certainly have a lot of room for improvement with Jeff Fisher coming to run the show.
So yes, the AFC West is much weaker than the NFC West at this point.

Here are some highlights of Bryant's 2011 season:
Lowest drop rate of any wide receiver in the league (one drop against 63 receptions)
Ranked sixth in TD receptions.
Ranked ninth in 1st down catches on 3rd down
Ranked 10th among wide receivers according to the Pro Football Focus Grades
Ranked 13th among wide receivers by Advanced NFL Stats in Win Probability added per game
Ranked 13th in DVOA by Football Outsiders
Case closed.
Congratulations, Mathias, you finally made a quality post.
Seriously though, how is Laurent Robinson tied with Dez?

lmao@ATL voting for Roddy White over Drew Brees

Still a tie for the 3rd WR spot. I'll leave this open another day or so then put up a run-off poll if necessary.

Our offseason series of all-division polls continues with the NFC South. Try to angle your voting towards performance in this season alone, giving extra weight to divisional games if you so choose.
In this poll we will vote for one kicker, one punter, one kick returner, and one punt returner. Pretty self-explanatory stuff here; it may be a minimizing facet of the game (especially kick returns) but it still exists, so vote it up.
Players are sorted by team (teams sorted by finish in the division this season). Each team's starting kicker and punter are represented, as well as the kick/punt returner(s) who returned the most kicks/punts this season for each team. (NOTE: Both Sammie Stroughter and Preston Parker returned 20 kickoffs for the Bucs this year, so they both qualified.)

In this poll we will vote for two cornerbacks and two safeties. You can vote for any two cornerbacks, while the safeties are broken down into free safeties and strong safeties.
Players are sorted by team (teams sorted by finish in the division this season), and then by total snaps played during the regular season. Each team got four representatives in this poll: the two cornerbacks and two safeties who played the most defensive snaps this season.

In this poll we will vote for three linebackers. All four teams in the NFC South run a 4-3 base defense so there's no re-shuffling necessary. Simply vote for the best SAM, MIKE, and WILL linebacker in the division this season.
Players are sorted by team (teams sorted by finish in the division this season), and then by total snaps played during the regular season. For each team, the player with the most snaps at each position qualified for the poll.

Now that you guys are going to Tag Jackson.. What do you think you can get in return for him?
I'd love to get a late 2nd for him, though I also wouldn't mind some sort of conditional pick next year. Maybe a 3rd this year plus a 5th next year that can become a 3rd. Something like that. Really I just want him out of Philly, lol. Same thing with Asante.
-
So, can we go ahead and use this as our "I want my team to sign ________" thread? Okay, cool.
-Any linebacker worth a damn, preferably Stephen Tulloch, Curtis Lofton, or London Fletcher in that order.
-Once we ditch DeSean Jackson, we'll need a starting receiver. I really like Marques Colston, but he wouldn't excel in Philly (or he'd be misused, we love doing that with big name free agents), so hell, why not take a flier on Stevie Johnson? This is a make-or-break year, after all. Gotta take some chances.
-
Malcom Floyd over Bowe? How could you?! lol. Floyd is good and all, but he's no D-Bowe.
I think he is. Very solid, underrated receiver. Bowe is way too inconsistent.
-
Why not the Chiefs? You can say all the things you said about the Phins or Cardinals about the Chiefs. The defense is stout to say the least, and why wouldn't you want to throw to Bowe, Baldwin, and Breaston? There's no Fitz there, but Bowe is more than an adequate consolation prize and the sum of the parts is greater than the WR corp in either of the other two cities. Plus, if Charles is even 80 % of what he was before the knee injury, the running game is better too.
Cassel's contract has already paid out the guaranteed money, so he's totally dumpable, and the Chiefs are already like 38 mil below the cap. Even with resigning Bowe and Carr, after dropping Cassel the team would have plenty of cap space to sign Manning too.
Hadn't thought of the Chiefs since they hadn't been mentioned in any reports. I know they keep saying they're committed to Matt Cassell, but the Dolphins and Cardinals say the same about Matt Moore and Kevin Kolb, and you know they'd jump at the chance to land Manning.
-
Maybe the Eagles have been working the phones and know differently, but I think it'd be very difficult to find a trading partner once the franchise tag is applied. And with next season being a make-or-break one for Andy Reid, we really can't afford to be stuck with DeSean if we don't want him.

In this poll we will vote for five total offensive linemen, one at each position. Pretty straightforward here; just vote for the five players who were best in 2011 at each position in the trenches.
Players are sorted by team (teams sorted by finish in the division this season). No minimum snap requirement for this poll; each team simply gets one representative: whoever notched the most snaps at each position.

In this poll we will vote for two wide receivers and two tight ends. Each division will be voting for two receivers and one tight end, with an additional "flex" position that can be either a fullback, second tight end, or third wide receiver. In the NFC East polls, for example, we voted for three receivers. In the case of the NFC South, there isn't much depth at wide receiver, while you'll probably find two tight ends that are worth your vote.
Players are sorted by team (teams sorted by finish in the division this season), and then by total snaps played during the regular season. Wide receivers with at least 700 offensive snaps and tight ends with at least 350 offensive snaps qualified for the poll, with one exception made for Arrelious Benn (510) so the Buccaneers could have two representatives at wide receiver.

In this poll we will vote for one quarterback and two running backs. Pretty self-explanatory stuff here; it's not quite a two-quarterback league yet but it most certainly is a two-running back league, so be sure to check two of those guys. For an explanation on why there's no fullback this year, see the Receivers & Tight Ends topic.

Ahmad Bradshaw is still enjoying the glow of his Super Bowl win, but that didn't keep him from dropping some advice to the New York Giants' division rivals, the Dallas Cowboys. His words of wisdom? Find some confidence and drop that Tony Romo fella. Otherwise, they won't win a championship."I don't see it happening," Bradshaw told the NFL Network when asked if the Cowboys will ever win a Super Bowl with Romo at the helm. "I don't think they believe it, and they're America's Team. If America don't believe it . . ."
Bradshaw was asked to clear his comment, about whether he was referring to the team itself or the fans.
"It all comes together," Bradshaw said. "If the fans don't believe it, the team doesn't. They're kinda doubtful with Romo."
It would be best for the Giants if the Cowboys kept everything as is. Since the Giants beat the Cowboys on the way to their Super Bowl win in 2008, the Giants have owned the Cowboys. In eight match-ups, Dallas has won just twice.
The Romo-led Cowboys, on the other hand, have struggled. They haven't been to the postseason since the 2009 season, when they were bounced by Brett Favre's Minnesota Vikings. Their 8-8 season in 2011 can't be blamed all on Romo, who threw for 4,184 yards. What Bradshaw is talking about is a lack of belief in the team across the program, which starts much higher than Romo.

Interesting.
And by their metrics he was pretty consistent, as well.

Can't disagree with the first three picks so far. I love how you guys are adding head coaches and coordinators this year. Should make the voting a lot more interesting and the process overall a lot more fun.

Honestly, Peyton was born to be on TV. Get fucking Shannon Sharpe's half retarded ass off of CBS pregame and put Peyton in. He'd be funny ANNNND you can actually understand what he's saying. Or Take Irvin or fucking Sanders off of NFLN.
Get this man a cookie.

Colston has already said he won't be giving New Orleans a hometown discount, so the Saints know they'd need to give him elite money to keep him. They also know Drew Brees and Sean Payton can make that offense work without him. I expect the Saints to extend Brees, slap the franchise tag on Carl Nicks, and let Colston hit the market.

the other issue for Manning with going to Washington is it would mean he'd be playing his brother twice a year, though depending on their family dynamics that might be a reason to go to Washington
I don't think that would increase or decrease Washington's appeal in any significant way. Both Mannings are competitive guys who would welcome the chance to face off twice a year, but I don't think it's necessarily something Peyton would really like to do.
