  2. According to ESPN Chicago's Bruce Levine, the Brewers have signed Aramis Ramirez to a three-year deal.

No word yet on the financial terms. Ramirez, 33, registered a superb .871 OPS with 26 home runs and 93 RBI in 149 games this past year for the Cubs. He's injury prone, but he's also capable of raking when healthy. The Brewers will hope that he can stay active and help replace some of the offense lost in the departure of Prince Fielder.

  3. A National League executive told George A. King III of the New York Post that the Rangers are considering making a run at Prince Fielder after the Angels' signing of Albert Pujols.

The scenario would also involve dealing first baseman Mitch Moreland to the Rays for pitcher Wade Davis. We really doubt the Rangers would make such a reactionary move, though, and a Rangers source told King that such scenarios "weren’t close to materializing." Many feel that the "big" move the Rangers have up their sleeve is a significant bid on Japanese right-hander Yu Darvish.

  4. The St. Petersburg Times reports that Josh Freeman (questionable, shoulder) experienced a "minor setback" in Friday's practice and will be a full-blown game-time decision Sunday against Jacksonville.

Freeman was unable to finish practice after experiencing pain in his throwing shoulder. The Bucs' medical staff will determine his status during pre-game warmups. The Jaguars currently have Ashton Youboty and Kevin Rutland as their starting corners, so it's potentially a startable matchup for Josh Johnson in two-quarterback leagues if Freeman is ruled inactive. Johnson totaled 274 yards and a touchdown in last week's game against Carolina.
