  3. I don't think Best WR and Best prospect are the same.

    Based on this:

So AJ Green and Julio Jones are the top receiving prospects coming into the league. Both had great college careers, are athletic beasts and will most likely be stars regardless of where they end up.

Which WR would you chose if you had to pick between the two of them?

OR is there another guy thats a better pick then either of them?

The answer is between two guys. KiLa is asking which WR is the better prospect, not who will become the best WR of this class, unless I'm misunderstanding, which I very well may be.

  4. I'd beg to differ. Just because they don't go int he 1st round, doesn't mean that they are automatically inferior, and are guaranteed to have worse NFL Careers. Being a "1st round talent" is awesome. Being picked in the 1st round is outstanding... But after the draft, that stuff doesn't matter. It is what the players do with the opportunity given to them.

I never said they were guaranteed to have worse careers. KiLa asked which WR was the best in this class, specifically who was better between Green and Jones. And as of now, from an evaluation standpoint, those two are on a level by themselves. We have seen plenty of first round receivers bust over the years, so it certainly wouldn't be a surprise if guys like Hankerson or Smith end up as the best from the class, but in terms of what KiLa is asking, only two guys are in the discussion.

  5. Well first of all, it's definitely between those two guys. The next level of guys--Torrey Smith, Leonard Hankerson--they aren't even close. Probably not even first round guys. A.J. Green and Julio Jones are both elite prospects.

Green has the edge for me, though it's a slight one. Both receivers are tremendously gifted physically, but Green had a better career at Georgia whereas Jones was slightly inconsistent at times. Just watch some of Green's highlights and you'll see why he's touted so highly. Just get the ball near him and he'll make the catch.

  6. Steelers: B+. Sarge nailed his first and third round picks. It's tough to evaluate the Chad Jones pick since he hasn't done much with the Giants in the wake of his car accident, but I thought it was a great pick at the time and I'll stand by it. Not quite A-level because there's nothing beyond round three that looks great, but there is some promise.

Eagles: B+. Outside of the first round, there's not much going on. J.D. Walton didn't do much for the Broncos this year but definitely still has potential. I'm bumping this grade up from a B/B- because trading up for Derrick Morgan was so much win. At the time of this draft game, the Eagles needed a DE something awful, and Sean did a great job in stealing Morgan without giving too much up.

Texans: A-. This is a decent B draft that gets elevated for me because the Devin McCourty pick might be the best one in the entire draft and here's why: at the time of the pick, we all questioned it because Kyle Wilson was still on the board, but FartWaffles defended his pick by citing flaws on Wilson's film at Boise State, claiming McCourty to be the superior prospect. In hindsight, he absolutely nailed it. That's great scouting, Fart.

Bengals: C. C.J. Spiller seemed like a great pick at the time, but now not so much. Did the Bengals really need a running back over other needs? Also, I really don't like the Carlos Dunlap pick. He may very well turn out to be a good player, but Sean gave up way too much to get him. Not much going on elsewhere in the draft, especially with Zac Robinson, who went undrafted if I recall correctly.

Patriots: C-. For so many picks, this draft isn't looking too good right now. Sergio Kindle may never be healthy enough to play, and Jonathan Dwyer slipped to the 7th round in real life. However, Nate Allen and Tyson Alualu were great value picks. Joe Webb and Joe Hawley are very interesting prospects to keep an eye on.

  7. Broncos: B-. Rolando McClain was a great pick, but Matt Tennant was a huge reach. Some potential in guys like Mitch Petrus and Linval Joseph. Probably a C/C+ draft that gets brownie points because Hoss got himself a punter who has already proven to a capable starter.

Dolphins: A. Great steals throughout the draft in Koa Misi, Tony Moeaki, and great value in Andrew Quarless. The only thing preventing this draft from being an A+ is that Dan Williams appears to have been a bit of a reach at 12th overall, but if he pans out, that may not matter.

49ers: D. This one is pretty basic. Anytime you draft a guy 17th overall who doesn't end up going in real life until the 4th round, that is a terrible misfire. Ranga did, however, make several really good picks, preventing this from reaching F status. Brandon Graham was a good pick-up, and the mid-round picks could be promising.

Giants: B+. I was skeptical about drafting two linebackers when it first happened, but Sean Weatherspoon at WILL and Brandon Spikes at MIKE would be beastly for the Giants' defense. I'm not sure Vladimir Ducasse was worth as much as NYGFH gave up to trade back into the 2nd round to get him, but Earl Mitchell was a great pick in the middle rounds.

Titans: B+. Earl Thomas was a great pick in the first, and without a second round pick, Bangy did a good job (wut) through the rest of the draft in getting good value. Jimmy Graham was definitely a steal. Once again, Bangy, fuck you for taking him before I did with the Cardinals. Overall a very solid draft. Not quite an A level because there's nothing that wows you.

  10. SI's Peter King reports that the Bengals have Julio Jones rated higher than A.J. Green on their draft board.

This is fairly significant because many mock drafts have A.J. Green going to Cincinnati at No. 4 overall. "Several personnel sources" tell King that Jones is the safer receiver prospect "in terms of work ethic and practice habits." The theory, ostensibly, is that Jones had to work harder in college because Green is a more natural athlete. The Bengals are also reimplementing a run-first offense, and Jones is regarded as a better blocker.

    Source: SI.com

Verrrrry interesting if this is true. Some other interesting tidbits from the same article:

I'd be stunned in Carolina does anything but pick a defensive lineman, quarterback or trades the pick. John Elway has said the Broncos are considering a quarterback at number two, but that would be a shocker. Buffalo is not taking a receiver at number three; the Bills will go quarterback or defensive front-seven player.

  11. Sources tell Tony Softli of ESPN 101 that the Cardinals are "enamored" with the skill set of Auburn QB Cam Newton.

The NFL trade chart would require Arizona to send its second-rounder (No. 38), third-rounder (69), and first-rounders in 2011 and 2012 to Carolina to move up to the No. 1 spot. Such a trade is highly unrealistic, although the Panthers would definitely jump all over it. However, top Cardinals beat writers Darren Urban and Kent Somers both agree that Blaine Gabbert would be a better fit in Arizona. We wouldn't pay much attention to this "rumor."

    Source: ESPN 101 St. Louis

I think we've all assumed to this point that the Cardinals would draft Von Miller and trade for a quarterback once the lockout ends, but this is a definite possibility if Newton falls to fifth overall. I in no way see Arizona trading up.

  12. Seahawks: D. LOLBC. Jermaine Cunningham is the only saving grace in this draft. Guys like John Jerry might still pan out, but when you have two picks in the first round, you should come out of the draft loaded.

Browns: B. With so many picks, Bobby did a good job in drafting players high on his board and getting good value. Joe Haden and Jermaine Cunningham were great picks. It's not an A draft right now because there's nothing beyond round two that jumps out at you, but with so many picks, there could still be a sleeper somewhere.

Raiders: A. For the record, this is an A-/B+. I elevated the grade to A-level because the Brian Price and Colt McCoy picks were full of win. Actually, the only thing holding me back from calling this a solid A draft was that Sargentina drafted Trent Williams with Sam Bradford still on the board.

Bills: C. Like the Raiders, Trident passed on Sam Bradford for an offensive lineman. In this case, though, I don't like drafting a tackle in the top ten unless he's going to be a blindside tackle, and Bryan Bulaga isn't. There isn't much else to brag about in this draft, either. Mike Neal was a good pick but Everson Griffen may be a career backup and Tony Pike went way before he should have. This might be a D draft, actually...

Jaguars: A. I'm giving Vin an A simply because he landed Sam Bradford. Now, you might say, "Well that's not to any credit of Vin; he just sat back and Bradford somehow fell into his lap." That is absolutely correct. It is also the nature of the NFL Draft. Sometimes elite guys who have no business falling to you will be on the board when you pick, and you have to take them and not fuck it up. The rest of the draft was decent considering the Jags didn't have a second rounder.

  14. Rams: C. I really like what Bangy did in the 2nd and 3rd round, especially the T.J. Ward pick, but his best pick, Aaron Hernandez, was auto-picked (for not picking in 24 hours, if I recall), and when you have the number one overall pick, you can't fuck it up. Bangy should've taken Bradford. He fucked it up.

Lions: A. In terms of draft picks, this is between an A and B for me. Javier Arenas was an especially great pick, while Tony Washington was a total fail. What pushes it to the A range for me is the trade with Green Bay, where DMac absolutely raped in terms of trade value. He traded a 3rd round pick to move up eight spots and still got a 3rd and 4th round pick in return.

Bucs: A. What a great draft. Of the first five players taken, the only big question mark at this point is Patrick Robinson; the other four have already established themselves as quality players. You could argue that Greg Hardy isn't there yet, but he showed a lot of promise; keep an eye on him next season.

Redskins: B. This one is fairly tough to grade because Hoss didn't have a lot of draft picks in the first place, and only ended up drafting three players when all is said and done. The first two picks are good, especially Okung, but it was definitely not worth trading the rest of the draft for Dan LeFevour. This is a B-/C+ but I'll lean towards B because, again, Hoss didn't have a lot to work with.

Chiefs: B. Ricky Sapp is basically the only one holding this back from being an A--not just because he looks like bench fodder, but also because Sean traded up for him. Still, any time you land the guy who was number one on my big board (Eric Berry) at 5th overall, I gotta give you props. This is a strong B.

  16. At least I had a good spring trolling.

You've only had 5 game appearances to date, which I don't get, as you're in as our left-handed set-up guy. I'm gonna "demote" Flores from right-handed set-up guy to middle relief, making you the sole set-up man. We'll see if that boosts your playing time.
