Haven't seen any games yet, but I'm hoping to catch a few and see what it's about. Part of me hopes this can take the shape of a stable farm league for the younger undrafted and the veteran comeback hopefuls. At a minimum it could offer a pool of players for teams to grab for practice squads in the pre-season.

Agreed. She pretty much carries the show for the most part. The episode with her mom brought out a down to earth side that gave her more dimension than any other character besides Oliver, in my opinion. Even she is becoming predictable with her whitty quips or her comments about shirtless men on whatever that bar-climber machine called, but she still manages to keep it refreshing enough to stay funny.

I tend to agree, but I can't figure out why. Maybe it's because I don't have to deal with Laurel's self-indulgent, uber-dramatic emo crap every episode. It's either serious over-acting or her character really is just that one-dimensional. Idk. But I'd hate to make my boredom with her an indicator of my feelings for the show...I actually do like it.

Toss-up between Decker and Connor. I'm actually leaning more towards Connor, just so we could have a fullback with a badass name who could also clear a path for Miller. We haven't had a decent fullback since Polite...dude was a 4th and short conversion machine. But Tannehill can never have too many good targets to choose from, so...Decker works, too.

Very true, and I have no complaints in that department. But no fan is ever satisfied with hanging with playoff caliber teams when they can see that their team could BE the playoff caliber team. 9-2 or 6-5 make a world of difference right now. Windows in the NFL don't stay open long. A defense/offense that operates efficiently one year may not do so the next (sometimes for no apparent reason), and when the chances are there, they need to find that killer instinct.

This now makes 3 straight losses to good teams that Miami had a good chance to beat...by a combined score of a whopping 10 points. If they can't stop shooting themselves in the foot at the wrong time and start closing the close ones out, they don't belong in playoff conversation, but I'm still happy they made a good game of it. Tannehill continues to impress me with his efficiency of late.

They've only met 16 times? Learn something new every day. I'm not getting my hopes up, but I'm certainly hoping an A+ defensive effort keeps us in it long enough to make it good. But they absolutely have to cash in on close range scoring chances or there is almost no hope, good defense or not.

Completely agree. I also thought it was interesting that despite his early flirtation with a "diva" reputation in Miami, Wallace was pretty strongly in defense of Lazor and put it all on the players to get the job done with the plays that are called. I like it.

Kind of why I'm secretly hoping for a titanic performance from Grimes and the pass rush. Of course I would post this after we had already played. Don't even know my own team's schedule.

5-4 is better than I thought we'd be at this point, considering how heavy-hitting the first half of the schedule seemed at the beginning of the season. To be over .500 feels good, but to hold off the Pack and the Lions would have felt better. We are still struggling to seal the deal in these types of games. There's a big difference between 7-2 and 5-4 right now in the AFCE. On the positive, I haven't felt this good about Miami's defense since the days of Madison, Surtain, Thomas, and JT. Coyle's background as a secondary coach has already been seen, and I can't help but feel like he has played a huge part in Brent Grimes' post-injury resurgence. I'm also very pleased with Tannehill, who hasn't really had a bad game since week 3. Lazor has helped put him in a position to succeed off the small ball play, and it's creating opportunities for bigger plays at the right time. Lamar Miller is beginning to look like the back I was expecting him to be, and Landry has been a pleasant surprise as another reliable option at receiver. I'm concerned about Albert's injury and the negative impact it will have, but I have confidence that the coaches will figure out how to work around it. They've made a point of overcoming obstacles and negative expectations thus far.

NYJ, Jacksonville (-124 net points), Oakland (0-9), Tampa...I wouldn't say the Panthers are the worst team just yet. But I do feel your pain.

GB and Miami shouldn't be bunched in there as "very easy competition". Nor should Buffalo, for that matter. And how is it that beating GB in Lambeau makes them legit, but beating them by several possessions in Detroit doesn't? A win over a divisional rival with a winning record is a solid win...period. I'm not saying I'm sold that they can maintain the "just enough" mantra they are rolling with right now, but give them credit where it's due.

I've always preferred his writing to his directing, even though he does tend to do both in most of his projects.

Second disappointing loss to a NFCN team in the closing minutes, after we were leading. I would normally fall back to my "same shit every year" face, but I still feel pretty good about Miami's direction. They don't seem as lost anymore. It isn't exactly a loss to a pushover, and from what I have read it the Lions are enjoying similar success with their defense right now. Some analysts even call them the best. All in all, of course the loss sucks. But at least they are making the opponents earn the wins more often. On an additional note: I am now completely convinced that Brent Grimes is the best FA move we have made since we took a chance on Wake. He didn't just bounce back from his injury...he launched himself back in time to 2009-2011. It's incredible. He already has 9 interceptions in a season and half with the Phins. He raked in a total of 13 in a much longer span with Atlanta.

I was at the game, working with Pro Staff, hoping to get some more time in the stands, but this lucky guy got to work Alcohol Enforcement in the concourse instead. I had to gauge how we were doing through the cheers. I did manage to catch the Earl Thomas pick, which was pretty awesome, in what seems to be normal Earl Thomas fashion.

Based on the number of single possession losses the Dolphins have been in in the past 2 seasons, including several overtime games, they could be talked about as well. They've been in the hunt 2 straight seasons, but have just been unable to cash in when the clock is winding down...literally and metaphorically. With that said, I despise the term "luck" when discussing the results for winning and losing teams. At the end of the day, the "good fortune" that befalls the winning team in a close game is more often based on a few more good play calls, a few more disciplined throws and routes, a few more sound technique tackles, etc. You can often trace a team's close loss back to certain moments in the game that were just bad decisions instead of bad luck. Miami is a prime example. I wonder how many more nice throws Tannehill could have gotten off if he wasn't so preoccupied with just avoiding the sack. Or how many of those damn screen plays we could have stopped with better zone discipline. Ultimately, they were their own worst enemy. Just my take, though.

I never follow racing all that much, but after seeing the "brawl" and the aftermath, I can say I don't ever recall Gordon being that pissed with anyone. He's generally struck me as a pretty level-headed guy.

My treatment program officially ended yesterday. I'm once again cleared to deploy and change stations if Uncle Sam wills it. Obviously I'm not cured, but progress is progress.

Fury a week or so ago. I cheated and read the script before going, but it made it more interesting for me to see how they ended up making it look on screen. All in all, I was happy with the result.

Really tricky... If I have to pick the easiest...basketball. Fewest number of players in the playing area at a time, and if you have at least one guy who can score 25-40 points a game, you should realistically be able to contend (if not coast) game in and game out with a slightly better than average defense and solid effort from the bench. But I'm speaking in hypotheticals where everybody has a clone of Lebron on their roster. Even this isn't easy. The hardest is incredibly subjective, but I went with MLB. Often 2, 3 or even more pitchers rotating through, all coming in with their own hot or cold streak, relying on their batters to overcome the not so favorable odds of hitting better than 1-4 or 1-3, and then actually making it around the bases thanks to the hitters behind them, and so on. The difficulty just keeps stacking up. But then you have games like soccer and hockey, where the ability to even get one goal (or lack thereof) makes you stand out and can win or lose the game for the whole team. Then of course football has obvious issues, like no O-line, no time to get rid of the ball, no corners, you give up yards for days, etc. It's all preference.
