  1. Just to further explain my point from earlier, here are all of the 2000 yard seasons we've seen out of a RB in NFL history and the way that they followed that season up:

    - O.J. Simpson, 1973, 332 carries for 2003 yards at 6.0 YPC => 1974, 270 carries for 1125 yards at 4.2 YPC

    - Eric Dickerson, 1984, 379 carries for 2105 yards at 5.6 YPC => 1985, 292 carries for 1234 yards at 4.2 YPC (missed 2 games)

    - Barry Sanders, 1997, 335 carries for 2053 yards at 6.1 YPC => 1998, 343 carries for 1491 yards at 4.3 YPC

    - Terrell Davis, 1998, 392 carries for 2008 yards at 5.1 YPC => 1999, 67 carries for 211 yards at 3.1 YPC (missed 12 games)

    - Jamal Lewis, 2003, 387 carries for 2066 yards at 5.3 YPC => 2004, 235 carries for 1006 yards at 4.3 YPC (missed 4 games)

    - Chris Johnson, 2010, 358 carries for 2006 yards at 5.6 YPC => 2010, 316 carries for 1364 yards at 4.3 YPC

    -Adrian Peterson, 2012, 348 carries for 2097 yards at 6.0 YPC =>

    The consistent dropoff in YPC is pretty astounding. The absolute best case in history was one full yard less per carry after the 2000 yard season, and the average has been 1.6. Now I understand that we're talking about a special player here, but if you want to try and tell me that he's so much better than guys in this list like Sanders, Dickerson, Davis, or Lewis that he's going to completely reverse what they were able to accomplish then I'm going to have to say that you're probably a prisoner of the moment.

    It's interesting to note that Barry was the only guy who managed MORE carries than the previous season. But that may also have to do with zero improvement in the QB situation :shrug:.

  2. Same was probably said about Calvin Johnson and his 2000 yards

    Johnson didn't get 2000 yards...either way that doesn't really make the situations the same.

    As much as people like to say Peterson WAS the offense, it simply isn't true. A team HAS to have some semblance of a passing game (yes, 2700 yards counts) for a runner to pull it off, even him. Because the pass is less dependent on the run than the other way around, one could even argue that Johnson has a better chance of hitting 2000 yards than Peterson does, especially with so little balance in Detroit's play selection.

  3. It's more of a low douche zone, any one at Andy Dalton's level and lower are pure class acts and the kind of people all players should aspire to be. Guys like Wilson and Freeman are well on their way to that classiness, they just happen to be on douchey teams so it rubs off on them a little. Nothing more than that. The top 16 or so definitely have a significant amount of douche to them.

    Still haven't clarified Brees' ranking, Razor. Answer me or....

  4. Lol... This appears to be old news, but a Florida court ordered a mom who fired a warning shot in her own home (not hitting, killing, or harming anyone) to 20 years in prison. Get the fuck out of dodge, man. Ha. I am sure this happens all around, but Florida is not a place I ever desire to be.

    Florida has some of the most fucked up laws ever.

    Kill someone in 'self defense' and you are free. Don't harm anyone while trying to protect yourself or your children and you are facing 20 years in prison.

    Moral of the story... If you want to protect yourself and not face jail time, kill the bastard.

    If I were the judge, and knew I was bound by state law to pass that sentence, I would try to recuse myself. Don't even know if it would be possible in that case, but I don't think I could live myself. 20 years for a warning shot that didn't hurt anyone.... :facepalm:

  5. It's not an obscene thought after witnessing what happened this past year. I don't want to be one of the ones sitting here saying AP can't do something anymore.

    Last year I said he wouldn't come back the same from his injury and...look what happened. If there's anyone in the NFL that has the ability to set legendary records at any given moment, it's him. I don't think he'll go for 2500, but he sure as hell has the capability to do so.

    I don't think anyone with half a brain would argue against that point. Just a matter of all the factors and things that would have to go right.

  6. Lynch is a remarkably tough runner, but I still prefer a guy who is a better receiving threat. And the two things aren't mutually exclusive. Steven Jackson is (and used to be moreso) a punishing runner and a sterling receiving threat.

    Which kind of surprises me for a guy more known as a bruiser than anything else. I think we instinctively just associate smaller guys with being the bigger receiving threats...or at least I do.

  7. I was 7 years old in 2000...but I do remember seeing highlights of Vick from VT..also when playing like Madden and stuff, I always used the Falcons because of him. As I grew older I started to follow football as a whole more. I'm not a VT fan, but it was enjoyable watching Marcus Vick too. So really just Vick.

    Gotcha. Kind of a side note...it seems like VT gravitated towards scramblers quite a bit more than other schools for a while. Vick, Vick 2.0, Taylor, etc. Might just be me.

  8. I remember a specific play that Kerry Rhodes was responsible for.

    And oh yeah, lol at Vick's awareness.

    Goddamn that was an awesome hit. I remember watching that play and holding my own ribs.

    But you nailed it...Rhodes wasn't even blitzing the blind side...how the fuck do you not read that blitz pre-snap? He never even looked at him.

  9. We just did this recently, but no harm in doing it again.

    You can add Randy Moss. Had he the work ethic of a Jerry Rice, he would have been unstoppable and may have very well come very close to beating Rices records.

    My fault for not looking it up :facepalm:

    We can merge it with the other thread if need be.

  10. That's actually a really interesting read. I've used that argument pretty often based on what I've seen when I was watching Peterson, but I've never actually looked at the raw stats. I'm pretty curious to see more of the top running backs/running teams in the league and what they went up against. On the same note, that article could easily be a discussion for the fact that perhaps it wasn't all Peterson doing the work. From what I just read, I get the impression that the Vikings offensive line was more to credit for the big season as opposed to Peterson. I'm not discrediting Peterson, he's clearly the best back in the league but what I'm saying is perhaps it was a healthy mix of some great run blocking and great running that produced the hulk-like season.

    Interesting. Thanks for posting man, that was a great read!

    That's definitely the other part of it. The Vikings run blocking got very little attention compared to AP, for pretty obvious reasons. But they still deserve a nod.

  11. I think Alexander is going to be one of those tricky draft picks. Half are gonna view him as potential steal and try to wait as long as they can. The other half are gonna snatch him up, reaching way before they should. He's tough to read, but either way I think his role increases, and he has legit WR2/Flex value, imo.

  12. He better not. The athletes are making horribly ignorant statements exposing them for the idiots they are, but they're exercising their freedom of speech. If they want to embarrass themselves, that's up to them.

    And by the way, some of these retards are already backpedaling:

    I certainly agree it would be unfair...but this isn't really a fair world the athletes live in. We've seen penalties dished out for much less.

  13. I grew up on it. My dad grew up in Stuart, FL and always talked about the Killer B's and Griese and the stacked backfield. As he got older and stopped watching as much, he spread loyalties around a little more...Panthers fan because he lives in SC, Pats fan ( :Suicide: ) because he does his 2 weeks up there and knows a bunch of people, and Texans fan because my step-mom is from Katy. He's still a Phins fan, but he doesn't really follow them as much as I do. I'm always the one giving him updates lol.

    Nope...this guy will only be loyal to one team. Although it is nice to live in a winning market ( :Seahawks: ) for a change. I'll root for them, but I won't bleed their colors.
