Privilege is an utter fabrication. If you can't 100% identify it, study it, and work toward solutions, it's not real. It's just a talking point designed to keep people mad at each other.

    Jameis Winston Facing 3-Game Suspension

Oh hell I wouldn't move on from Jameis yet. I would move on from Mariota before I'd move on from Jameis. That being said, these three years don't look very good except for certain stretches, and I'm not convinced he's got that high football IQ people raved about. Dude likes to throw to the other team too much. If I were a betting man, I'd bet on him busting if the Bucs don't make a miraculous turnaround. Jameis Winston's best chance to reach his ceiling is to be the next guy in a much better franchise.

Nobody defended her. We're just acknowledging that if the political affiliations were different, so would be the results of the stupid tweets. Can we please not conflate things for the sake of making each other look bad?

Here's the truth. Had a liberal tv star compared Ben Carson to an ape they'd have been cheered and conservative America would have been told, "take it easy, guys! It's a joke." And the show would still be on the air. So her show should still be on the air. The tweet was disgusting and i didn't watch the show so I really don't care, but double standards are double standards. At least she actually did something wrong. Last Man Standing being canceled...now that was ridiculous.

    Jameis Winston Facing 3-Game Suspension

Does anybody else wonder now how he was ever viewed so highly as a prospect? Looking back...high INTs, egregious Dad-bod (seriously Jameis, you're not at your best if you're not in the best shape possible), extremely ugly character issues.... How did we all get this guy so wrong?
  6. All Kellen's are assholes. Lock him up and throw away the key.
  7. Context: Recently California metal band As I Lay Dying released a new song and music video, their first new music in 6 years. They've returned with the same lineup they had six years ago. "My Own Grave" is a continuation of their evolution and every bit as good as anything they've ever released before. Now, I'm sure most of you remember back in 2014 when frontman Tim Lambesis was busted for trying to hire a hitman to kill his ex-wife, who had estranged herself and their children from him. A little more context--Lambesis had become a heavy steroid user and, according to the band and his loved ones, had slowly deteriorated into the state that led him to the point of committing such a depraved crime. Many condemned him, of course, which was appropriate, and he was sentenced to serve prison time. He was released not too long ago, probably within the last two years, and the fate of the band was up in the air. Here we are now, with new music available, and many people wondering how his former bandmates, some of whom had spoken out very very strongly about how they felt about his deterioration and actions, could possibly work with him again. He is supposedly reformed and repentant. "My Own Grave" is also indicative of that lyrically, and in my opinion is an extremely good song. It doesn't sound self-serving, preachy, or as if he's begging for forgiveness. It's an acknowledgement of what he had/has become. Honestly, given the nature of his crime, the lyrics are quite beautiful and moving. So this led me to a question about the human condition--once a human being commits an egregious act, we apply a title to them, murderer, rapist, etc. So, with that in mind, can an individual who has shown the capacity to commit such a crime ever undergo a complete transformation to where they are no longer capable of such actions, or do they simply have better self control? Further down the rabbit hole, is every single human being capable of committing horrendous crimes if they make a succession of bad decisions and slowly lose their self control and completely lose track of their moral compass? Discuss. Also, there will be another thread derived from this situation in the future. It's a completely different question but one I think posters will like and will be worth discussing.

I'm just going to assume that said bill includes a bunch of ridiculous add-ons that Republicans would never agree to so it's designed for them to look bad. They do the same thing when Democrats are in power, so the finger points at both sides of the aisle, imo.

There have been some really good teams in LeBron's way. At least over the past 3-5 years, he's just demolished pretty much everybody. Don't discredit his dominance. LeBron has faced an inferior team twice in his Finals years. The other 7 times his team was significantly worse, imo. His team won twice against clearly superior opponents in the Spurs and Warriors.

Aaron Rodgers Seeking Player Option In New Deal

Brees is 40 with an arm that has been severely injured years ago that will eventually rear its ugly head. He's closer to deterioration than people realize

Way-Too-Early Rookie of the Year Predictions?

ORotY should be Saquon Barkley, but I think Dallas Goedert has a chance to explode onto the scene in Philadelphia with Ertz getting so much attention. I'm not sure what I think of any of the rookie WRs, but I think Ridley will be pretty good right off the bat. DRotY I have no idea.

Well the first time around they didn't build him a roster capable of winning a title. And it's Kyrie's own fault that his ego is so big he can't handle being the second guy even though the first option is the best player of this generation and arguably in league history. Kyrie will never be a top 5 NBA player, so what was the point of his needing to be the face of a franchise? He could have won titles, potentially built a dynasty with one of the best players this league has ever seen. Instead, he walked away from that for selfish reasons. If I was the Cavs, I'd have traded him to fucking Sacramento for this shit. They treated him better than he deserved. It's Kyrie Irving who has screwed the Cavs in the long run.

They weren't just throwing sticks and stones. They brought the consequences upon themselves. Hamas is a terrorist organization who has absolutely ravaged the Palestinian people and their ability to live. They are to blame for this situation, not Israel. What's Israel supposed to do? Continue to allow Hamas terrorists to stage violent protests and attack Israeli people? Israel has the right to defend itself and its people.

Aaron Rodgers Seeking Player Option In New Deal

Yes, Minnesota signed Cousins to that contract. Minnesota also has a team that is 3 times better than any team Kirk Cousins has ever been on. You're right, though. Kirk either performs or he doesn't. That being said, I do expect a step back for Minnesota despite the Kirk signing. Murderer's Row schedule and I don't expect the defense to avoid any season ending injuries again. And no player is worth so much of the cap. Quarterbacks are valuable but caring so much about being the highest paid QB in the league is an indictment of Rodgers's character, imo.

Are you aware of what actually happened in this case? This gay couple targeted this baker and asked him to make a custom cake (celebrating homosexuality, which his religious . He offered to sell them a normal wedding cake. He offered to help them in any way he possibly could. This guy is so religious he won't make Halloween cakes. This baker was targeted by a gay couple and nearly sent into financial ruin because of their selfishness. There are cake makers all over the place. Leave the religious guy alone or buy a standard wedding cake, which he offered to sell you. This is significantly different from refusing to serve blacks because there is a significant difference between race and what one chooses to do with their genitals. It's a false equivalence of the highest order. If Christian bakers have to make cakes for gay people, Jewish and Muslim butchers have to sell pork.

I could be talking about a completely different case and make an ass of myself here, but IIRC, this particular gay couple chose this bakery simply because they knew they'd try to refuse to make the cake. Which they should be able to do without legal repercussions. The courts got this right.

Warriors getting all the calls tonight too. This is pathetic. Also, Klay Thompson is scarier as a shooter than Steph is on an every day basis. Steph is scarier when he gets hot, Klay is scarier every day. He's more consistent.

  24. It's no secret that identity politics are ravaging relations between people in the United States. Of course the media presents it as tension between races, though I'm not convinced that's the truth. I think the tension is mostly along political lines. So what's the primary issue that's causing all of this? Very clearly, people have conflated their own individual identities (as well as any group identity of which they belong to) with their preferred ideologies. No longer can the average American gather with friends, sit around the dinner table on Saturday night, and discuss recent events and politics without someone getting all huffy puffy and charging out of the house like a petulant child, speeding away in their car, and ending perfectly good friendships over political disagreements. How silly is that? What do all of you think about this current climate? How do you feel we should address this issue? Do you think that this climate sabotages the development of critical thinking skills for developing young people? Final question: Hypothetically you are a parent. In this climate moving forward, how we teach our children to not believe everything they read, not to rush to align with specific groups, and to come to their own conclusions about political issues. How would you go about this, hypothetically, as a parent?
  25. This will be another Civil Discourse thread in the future because it's worth its own topic, but I think crippling narcissism is another root to this issue, as well as other issues that people confront in life in 2018. Ngata alluded to it with his stances on social media.
