    TGP Week 7 Power Rankings

    1. (-) -Running out of things to say here. Business as usual in Green Bay. 2. :Patriots: (-) -Tom Brady doing what he always does when he has to. The defense stepped up and played well- and a good thing, too, or Brady would not have had the chance. 3. (+4) -Going into Detroit and beating the Lions a week after giving a drubbing to the Bucs makes a solid case for them being #2 in the NFC. 4. (+1) -Beat a good Texans team, albeit without Andre Johnson. I'm not sold on the Ravens due to Flacco's inconsistency, but if he can put it together, this would be a scary team. 5. (-2) -Lots of penalties and the defense was unable to stop San Francisco when they needed to. They need to bounce back after this difficult loss. 6. (-2) -I still think the Saints take the NFC South, but they just made things a lot closer. They had a chance to pull away a bit with a 2-game lead from both Tampa and Atlanta, and couldn't come through when they had to on the road. 7. (+1) -Another solid win, but the news that Campbell is done for the season could spell disaster for Oakland. 8. (+6) -Great win over Buffalo. Eli playing like a top-ten QB at the moment, and with the Skins implosion against Philly, they have a clear shot at the NFC East crown. 9. (-3) -Tough loss to the G-men, but this year's version of the Bills are made of sterner stuff than previous incarnations. They won't let the Pats run away with the East's title this year. 10. (+2) -I'd like to see Pitt put away inferior opponents like the Jaguars instead of letting them hang around, but a win is a win, and Pittsburgh is sitting at 4-2 after a shaky start. 11. (+6) -A great effort on all facets by the Buccaneers as they get a huge win over New Orleans. Especially impressive after that blowout loss in San Francisco. 12. (-1) -Finally a bit of a test for the Chargers, as they head into New York and put their 4-1 record up against the Jets. 13. (+3) -Another week, another win for Cincy. They are playing tough football, but hanging with Pittsburgh and Baltimore is going to be a challenge for this team and their young QB. 14. (-1) -Bye week sees the Titans move into first place in the AFC South. Huge game against the Texans up next. 15. (-6) -Loss to Baltimore showcased the Texans need for another option in the passing attack, and how much the loss of Mario Williams hurt their defense. I'm sure I'm not the only one skeptical that Derrick Mason is the answer here. 16. (+2) -Finally started to lean on Turner, perhaps? Impressive showing on the ground against Carolina, they need to continue riding Turner to catch up with the Saints and Bucs. 17. (-2) -On the plus side, their defense looked great, at least up until that last drive. On the negative side of things, their offense struggled to score against the worst passing D in the league. 18. (-8) -And there's the Rex Grossman we all were waiting for. 19. (-) -Solid showing against Miami on Monday night. Unfortunately, beating the Dolphins isn't all that impressive. The Jets are gonna need more games like that from their defense if they hope to catch up with New England and Buffalo. 20. (-) -Congratulations for destroying Minnesota. A step in the right direction, at least, we'll see if they can continue the trend. 21. (+4) -I'm going to need to see a lot more proof that the Eagles are back than a close win over the Redskins. Still, it's a step in the right direction. 22. (-1) -The Hawks head to Cleveland after their bye week, hoping to pull off a second consecutive road victory. 23. (-) -Browns played pretty well, but couldn't pull out the W in Oakland. They host the Seahawks next. 24. (-) -Going to Miami for Tebow's first start fresh off their bye week, is a recipe to cure many ills. 25. (-3) -Carolina's inability to finish is killing them. They have led going into the 4th quarter in 4 out of their 5 losses. Mistakes made at crucial times are the reason Carolina is last in the NFC South, instead of first. 26. (-) -Bye week for Arizona. With the Steelers coming to town next, they had better get things together in a hurry. 27. (-) -Bye week leaves KC where it was. We'll see if the time off has helped the Chiefs to answer their questions with a big division game at rival Oakland up next. 28. (-) -Got steamrolled by Chicago. The offense looks pitiful- with AP as its only weapon the Vikes aren't winning many more games. 29. (-) -Mistakes are why the Colts are 0-6. They had their chances against Cincy, even had a FG attempt that would have tied the game with less than 5 to go, but they just couldn't finish. Painter is doing pretty good, but his receivers have got to hang onto the ball. The two fumbles from Indy's wideouts led to 14 Bengals points. 30. (-) -Another poor showing by Jacksonville's offense makes another great effort by their defense go for naught. If only the 1-5 Jags defense could combine with the 1-5 Panthers offense... 31. (+1) -The Rams shifting a spot is solely due to the defensive effort put forth in the second half against Green Bay. You're grasping at straws when you're 0-5, but holding Green Bay to 24 points is something to build on, at least. 32. (-1) -The Fins look lost. Moore is not the answer at QB, and at this point, I'm not sure who they could get to improve matters.

    Cam in Elite Company

Actually, that would be the center. Edit: Shotgun beat me to it. As far as the Steve Smith responsible for a lot of Newton's YAC- A.J. Green is doing a lot of that for Dalton. The Bengals have had a far easier road than Newton and the Panthers. Were I give ORotY *right now* it would go to Dalton. Let's see what the Red Rifle does against Pittsburgh, Houston, and the Ravens. As well- and this may be true for some of Dalton's picks, I haven't watched but one Bengals game- at least 4 of Cam's picks were just bad luck or tremendous plays by a defensive player. He's really only had the one "bad" game, against Green Bay, as far as INTs go. The Atlanta game, arguably none of them were really on him. Everything we can really look at to determine how good a QB will eventually be suggests Cam will be elite. However, a lot of times, things just don't pan out that way. Vast majority? Try about 1/3. About the same percentage Green has for Dalton, oddly enough.
  3. Actually, it does. I was just making a prediction for fun and to spark conversation. It was wrong. Oh well.
  4. You realize this could equally apply to Jim Harbaugh, lol. Since they're both named Jim.
  5. You were saying? I didn't say it was definitely going to happen, merely pointing out that it was a strong possibility. I also said that the Niners would be Detroit's biggest challenge.

Week 6 | Panthers vs Falcons

This. I gotta give the nod to Dalton at the moment. Maybe it's just the Bengals soft schedule versus the Panthers tough one, but right now Dalton's stats may not be as pretty, but I'd swap Newton's stats for Dalton's wins in a minute. (I would not, however, swap the two QBs. I'm fairly confident that Newton is the better QB by far.) A.J. Green is also in the picture, Julio is a distant 4th to those 3.

Week 6 | Jaguars vs Steelers

I was *this* close to saying 17-13 Steelers, lol.

Week 6 | Panthers vs Falcons

It was close until 5 minutes left in the 4th when Newton threw his second pick and gave Atlanta the ball back at midfield with a 7-point lead. They took it down and scored a TD to go up by 14. Close all the way, we were leading 17-14 going into the 4th, but once again just could not finish. I think the Panthers take a serious drop in my rankings until they show they can finish ballgames. You can play well all you want for 3 quarters, if you play horrible in the 4th, it means jackshit. Naw. One INT was a one-handed grab by a defensive lineman off a screen pass. It was a great call by Atlanta's D, and a ridiculously great catch by Peters. Another was off a deflected pass in the secondary. Hardly on Newton. The third and final one was a desperation heave into the endzone with no time left.
  9. You really think Schwartz was justified in running down after Harbaugh and running into him, trying to get into his face? The guy was a little exuberant, oh well. It's football. People slap each other on the back all the time.
  10. Thanatos

Why did your team win/lose this week?

Run defense got shredded. That's about it. Newton played well, the 3 INTs doesn't really show it. He made a costly mistake with the INT to Peters, (though even that was a fantastic catch by a D-lineman), but the other two were off a tipped pass and a desperation throw at the end of the game. Hardly on him. Run game played decent, with nearly 150 yards total, but I'd still like to see us get more from the RBs than our QB. I said beforehand that the only person I was worried about was Turner. Ryan played well, but he hardly won the game, that was all on Turner. Carolina has to figure out a way to play better run D, or Newton can play well all he wants and it won't matter at all.
  11. He grabbed his hand and slapped him on the back. There is absolutely NOTHING Harbaugh did wrong. He got a little excited. So what? Schwartz chases down the opposing coach and runs into him, he looked like a little kid who was trying to make a point by getting in someone's face. Harbaugh acted far more like a coach than Schwartz with that whole scenario. He's a first-year coach and he just took out one of two remaining unbeatens in THEIR house. So he was excited. He did nothing that called for a reaction like Schwartz's.

Raiders Likely Lose QB Campbell For the Season

I think you meant to say: Enter Brett Favre.

BLUE's NFL Upset Pick of the Week

lolBangy fail. Even with Campbell being gone in the 2nd quarter.
  14. Hell no, from what we've seen. Especially from Schwartz. He gets really excited as well, saw him after pretty much every game. It was just a handshake. Plus in the post-game conferences, Harbaugh was classy, and Schwartz sounded like a whiny loser, to be honest. Never thought I'd see the day when we were apologizing for shaking someone's hand too hard.

The Official TGP Pick'Em Thread: Week 6

Meh 7-4. Should've just gone all home teams, lol.
  16. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d8230fc44/article/trading-winds-deals-that-should-get-done-before-deadline This is simply too good of a laugh to let go. Some of his "advice" for teams: Seattle sending Doug Baldwin to Cincy for Carson Palmer. The Vikings trading Jared Allen to New England for a first-rounder. The gem of the bunch, though is this: Yeah, he just said the Broncos should trade us Brandon Lloyd AND a draft pick, for Jimmy Clausen. Speaking for every Panthers fan, everywhere, and the entire organization, I'm sure, we wish Mr. Brandt was running things over in Denver, because surely John Elway is not that stupid. We'd even take the straight trade, you can keep the draft pick.

    #1 Cartoon of All Time

Teen Titans was pretty awesome. Batman TAS and Superman TAS, I agree with those. Scooby Doo and the Flintstones as well. That's all just off the top of my head.

What Game Are You Currently Playing?

Firefall is looking pretty good so far. My type of MMOshooter. Global Agenda was fun until it pretty much died.

    Gil Brandt's trading advice

Just getting good players does not a team make. If that were the case, Philly would be 5-0. Their problem is not lack of talent, it's the fact that they don't play like a team.

Week 6 | Jaguars vs Steelers

I think the Jags lose, but I also think their defense gives Ben plenty of trouble. 13 23

    Week 6 | 49ers vs Lions

24 30 The Niners D is going to have to stop the Lions offense, and quite frankly, I don't see that happening.

Week 6 | Dolphins vs Jets

Jets are in the same situation Philly is. Lose, and their season is over. 10 21

13 27 Oakland takes this one, I think.
