Bucs lose Carl Nicks for season

It seems like every time we suddenly get strong in a particular area we end up with a bunch of injuries to it.

    Most Disappointing QB?

It's almost as if people in this thread didn't watch Rivers play last year. He was dog shit the first 8 weeks of last season as well. In fact he was even worse than he has been the first 8 seasons of this year. I fully expected him to suck it up this season. I've never had faith in Vick, so he's not a surprise. Newton isn't either for similar reasons (I've argued against the long-term viability of QB's who run a lot before, and it's not just because of injuries.) Stafford has been the most disappointing. After 5k+ yards and 40+ TD's everyone expected him to have another good season, even if it wasn't quite as good as last years. Romo is a close 2nd, and could easily be the most disappointing as well by the seasons end. Even if he has had some real bad games, he always at least puts up respectable stats over the course of a season. EDIT: Guess ChrisD beat me to it but here's Rivers stats from last years first 8 games - 2084 yards 7 TD 11 INT 17 Sck 6 FUM
  3. It's easy for a bunch of Americans to say this guy is a dick, but considering China laws, this is probably the only kid he's legally allowed to have (making finding someone with good genes more important), and it happened under false pretenses. Not only that but having a smart attractive kid is one part of a persons status in society. Now I don't think that's right, but that's how it is. Say what you want about it scarring the kid but I find it hard to consider it an awful thing that he sued his wife. He'll likely be paying it back in child support anyway. I'll admit I'm shallow, I've seen a picture of the baby, and it's honest to God only a face a mother could love.

Matt Stafford vs. Josh Freeman vs. Mark Sanchez

I don't think Sanchez can even be considered part of the discussion. He's just bad all around. I'm starting to get the impression Freeman and Stafford are a lot alike in that they both have quite a few downsides and weak points and both need top-level WR's to succeed at this point in their careers. I honestly think Freeman has a slight edge in throwing the long ball, his issue in that department isn't his accuracy but his trust in his receivers. Stafford is quite a bit more accurate at short to intermediate routes and sees the field better though. I don't know what's up with Stafford this year but I still think he's more well rounded in general and is more affective when the run isn't working out because he sees the field better. He hasn't exactly been playing against a bunch of chump defenses this season either.
  5. It's one thing to have a nose job or something, it's a whole other issue to have $100,000 in plastic surgery and never tell the guy you're married to about it. It sounds superficial but unless you're someone who dates hideous girls with good personalities, I wouldn't sit here judging the guy. She kept a big secret from him. I'd be pissed too. Not only that but if this kid is truly ugly it's going to go through life being treated poorly, and that's something that's very stressful for parents as well as their kids. There's a reason why people generally don't marry and have kids with people they aren't physically attracted to. It makes for some shitty offspring.
  6. I'd be super pissed off too if I was in that situation.

    Bucs/Saints end of game play

My comment was mostly directed at Buc fans in general but as for this website specifically: You also seem to be making a far bigger deal of the refs problems after such a controversial loss by making 2 separate threads. You may not have out rightly said you think the refs cost the Bucs a game but it's far from an illogical inference to conclude such. As for my comments on the play calling, I admit I exaggerated Sully's play calling based on a couple drives but considering how shitty the Saints defense is and how he's called plays in the past few games I find it hard to believe he's suddenly calling good games. The offense made a lot of plays solely off of blown assignments. On the other side, Bill Sheridan seriously needs to stop with these bullshit 3rd down calls. You don't beat Drew Brees by rushing 3 people.

    Bucs/Saints end of game play

It's almost comical seeing fellow Buc fans focus so much on one bad ref call that took a TD away and "cost us the game" even though a bad call against the Saints earlier in the game ultimately resulted in us having a TD. How about stop it with the bitching about the refs and put the focus on the real reason why we lost, and that's the appalling play calling by both our offensive and defensive coordinators throughout the majority of the game mixed in with some idiotic decisions by players trying to be a hero. We had a two score lead in the 1st quarter of the game. We had the ball at the 5 yard line earlier in the game after a long V-Jax catch and run, and walked away with NOTHING. The Saints didn't even beat us because of a bad bounce here or a tipped ball there. No, they threw the ball down our throats and put up 21 points in a single quarter. We shouldn't have even been in this position.

We've given up a lot of 20+ and 40+ plays which has helped put the pass D at #25 in yards allowed but they're still only #12 in points allowed, which really is the part that matters most. A ton of those yards/points have come in the 4th quarter after they've been tired out by the offense not being able to stay on the field as well, so with that put into consideration our pass D has actually played surprisingly well. Certainly better than I thought they would be. If the offense played to their potential I think the defense would be ranked quite a bit higher than they are.
  10. For a game mostly watched by guys they sure do book an awful lot of people with large female fan basis. They could get almost any band they wanted in the world.....but the pick Beyonce. Great idea, we can take a break from watching guys knock each other around to watch great musical achievements like "All the single ladies".

Barron's been great but I get the feeling his big hits has caused people to overrate his play a bit. He's pretty suspect in pass coverage as most figured he would be as a rookie, which is one of a few reasons why we're I think 31st in pass coverage right now. Meanwhile Gerald has yet to put up a poor performance and is easily the best player on the team, not just the defense. I'd argue he's been the best DT in the league so far, and if anyone would rate him outside of the top-3 right now they obviously haven't watched him play much. I know after the first 4 weeks he made more plays behind the LoS than any other lineman in the NFC. Even when he hasn't put up a bunch of stats he's still putting tons of pressure on QB's while also clogging up running lanes. A big reason why Foster, Lavonte, and Barron have been able to make great plays against the run can also be attributed to Gerald not giving RB's many choices as to where they can go.

    Chiefs @ Bucs

Figures the Bucs get a win and puts up big points doing it on the rare Sunday I have to work.
  13. It's unfortunate for the good ones we have, but the fact is the majority of Cops are, and always have been assholes. They're the immature high school douche bag that shit in urinals and pushed kids into one another. Except now they're all grown up, have a gun, and like to goad people into back talking so they have an excuse to pop them in the mouth. A donation isn't going to give them added incentive to be the jackasses they already are. This article is acting as though they treated people differently before they got a donation. If there is a protest, especially if it has to do with the government or large corporations, there most certainly will be wrongful arrests. http://articles.chic...le-s-law-office *Wrongful arrests in Chicago, 2003. http://www.ny1.com/c...-gop-convention * Wrongful arrests by NYPD in 2004. http://pdnpulse.com/...ers-others.html * Wrongful arrests in Denver, 2008. Just a few examples based on articles written in the last couple years due to the settlements. You can still find older articles from protests that haven't gone through settlement.
  14. Sample size is important. Last time they did it they polled about twice the number of people and Obama was ahead by a good amount. I'm sure Romney closed the gap a little but I find it hard to believe he went from being 8% under to 4% over simply by lying his ass off in a single debate.

Does JJ Watt have a shot at MVP?

If a defensive player is going to win MVP, this would be the year. All the top QB's are either on a losing team or they haven't done anything super special. On top of that, Watt is putting up some ridiculous stats and he's on a team that has a shot at getting to the Super Bowl. It's pretty early in the season though. A lot of the reasons why people win MVP has to do with how they play in the 2nd half of the season.

Arrowhead Erupts In Cheers After Injury to Cassel

I don't know what's sadder, that the Chiefs fans would cheer that a player got injured, or that they would cheer knowing Brady Quinn is about to come on the field.

Do they mean as a walk-on? In the middle of a season? I don't get it.

    did he really play there?

These two are probably the weirdest to me because they only played their last year elsewhere, so they are never really mentioned as being anything but a Jet and a Steeler.
  19. If you count foreign owned American subsidiaries (I do), they would both be getting foreign money. One is a current loophole, but they are in essence the same thing.

    2012 Buccaneers season thread

I think it's a combination of a lot of people moving to Florida from other states, and having a lot of entertainment options. It's cheaper to take the family to one of the 7 major theme parks that are relatively close to the Tampa area, then there's beaches, fishing, and a shit ton of other water-related activities you can do. I don't like seeing the stadium empty but I also don't blame people for not wanting to blow $300+ to watch the Bucs lose rather than doing something fun for 6 or more hours. Florida doesn't really make a good selling environment for teams when they're losing. Besides all that, the longer the blackouts go, the less interest fans are going to have while the losses continue. And so long as they're losing as often as they have been the last 4 seasons, no one is going to spend the amount it takes to go to a Bucs game just because they'll miss it on TV. It's a pretty shitty idea for long-term business interest imo.
  21. Getting a team there is going to be a shitty investment. Not only will they struggle to get a big enough fan base to make a team want to stay, but they make anyone who does business in L.A. pay out the ass in taxes.

NFL and NFLRA Reach Agreement on 8-Year Deal

You're right. It got tiring complaining after every single down. It's time to get back to complaining over how 2 missed holding calls and a questionable DPI cost us the game. Fucking refs. And all was right with the world.
