Update: Browns sign Josh McCown to 3-year deal

Wait, so you pass on Hoyer and you sign McCown? Who likely, was coming at the same asking price as Hoyer, or close. There are reasons why the Browns have been where they have the past 10 years.

Cobb: " I Want To Win Championships."

I just think it's too good to be true for a wide receiver like Randall Cobb to hit free agency on the open market. I would imagine that if the Packers offer him around 8 and another team comes in only to offer what he's seeking, he sticks with the Packers. With that said, can you imagine the suitors here? I mean, what teams that are even relatively close to a playoff contender would offer Cobb more than what he's seeking? Perhaps Baltimore, Kansas City? I would even throw in the Panthers as being a possible suitor if they can get the salary to work out the way they want it in the long term. I don't know, it just seems a bit of a pipe dream. I'm not sure you walk into a situation as good as you have it in Green Bay, money aside.

    Jake Matthews underwent Lisfranc surgery

With a full off-season to recover, this shouldn't be too big of a deal once the regular season comes full swing. He wasn't 100% since the 2nd quarter of the week 2 game against the Bengals.

Father Chooses Baby With Down Syndrome Over Wife

What a dirtbag of a mom. On the whole idea that was in the OP about how there are so many stories of bad dads and such, did you know that there are actually a larger percent of mothers in the United States (as of a 2013 research) that have given up on, abused, decided not to pay child support, gave up their rights as it relates to dads of the same stature. I think it read something like 65-35, something along those lines, and I get it's all relative to how many individuals they actually took part in this. But, still none the less, it's just the point that fathers get a bad draw in it all, when majority of the time it's the other way around.

Lynch Trademarks "I'm Just Here So I Won't Get Fined"

I have no problem with Lynch and his "antics" as everyone calls them. Who cares? The media goes out to question players, and more often than not they take shit and spin it in a completely different direction. If he doesn't want to talk to the media so be it, whether it's because he is socially incapable of having a solid interview, or because he's building his image as a guy who is "against the man". If it's the later, he's a genius. Know why else I have no issue with Lynch? The guy is clearly an absolute godsend to a whole hell of a lot of kids in the Oakland area. Running food drives, getting kids outside and exercising, teaching kids how to portray themselves, be themselves, and get through life. No matter what type of spin the media and people put on Lynch, his legacy will go way past football. The guy is basically the king of where he came from. He needs to just keep doing what he's doing. All about that action, boss.
  6. This sounds like a Rich McKay deal. He'll be the fall man.

Browns WR Josh Gordon Addresses Critics

Trade him. There are teams that will bite hard. He's definitely got a lot of baggage and is always getting himself in trouble with the league, but... Undeniable talent.

Raheem Morris to be named Falcons Asst. HC

I really feel like Morris is more or less just a familiar face that Quinn wishes to have in place because Morris already knows all of Quinns language and his style. More or less, Morris is going to be another voice. Definitely agree with you on that MileHigh. Morris was the news story, but Smith shoudl have been the headline.

Raheem Morris to be named Falcons Asst. HC

It's a "meh" hire. Not great, not bad. Being that he has been brought in as an "assistant" defensive coordinator, that should mean that Dan Quinn is probably going to be calling the plays on that side of the ball. That's a good thing for us. I'm stoked for Dan Quinn to become our head coach, he's got a fire about him from what I've seen, something Smith really lacked. And being that he's coming from Seattle, a team that is very "you earn the playing time you get" is real exciting for Falcons fans too. For years now since Smith came to our team it's been that they would start guys based on where they were drafted or how much money they are making. I severely hope that Quinn brings that Seattle mentality with him where the best guy plays. Curious to see what Morris will bring for us though other than another body to help deal with players.

Bucs hire Dirk Koetter for OC

Terrible hire. I was in awe when he was hired in Atlanta. Then I saw the finished product. His offensive schemes just don't work in todays NFL where linebackers and safeties can cover just as well as those outside players. He puts receivers all in the same area of the field to confuse the defense, but it just doesn't work. He likes to go vertical, but that will only work if you have an offensive line that can hold for a long time under his books. The Bucs O-line isn't any more or less spectacular than the Falcons, so I'd have to say that this may be a car wreck waiting to happen. I actually feel bad that the Bucs fans are going to have to put up with this clown callingplays.
  11. PSLs from hell... Stadium is absolutely amazing though. Arthur Blanks main thing is that he wants to be able to host the superbowl mainly, but MLS, NBA, NHL, he wants to have everything there. I can see it too. It should help make them an olympic consideration too.

    Cardinals @ Falcons

Once again, we enter yet another week where the fate of the Falcons is in their own hands. Unfortunately, I don't feel like this is a game the Falcons can even begin to dream of winning. There is a real strong possibility that Matt Ryan may get killed tomorrow afternoon. Definitely interested to see how James Stone continues to hold up at center. He was undrafted out of Tennessee and has looked absolutely phenomenal for us since being inserted into the line-up because of injuries. He's looked every bit of a starting center, more than capable of holding his own against some of the best. I hate that William Moore is returning. Kemal Ishmael has played ridiculously well this season filling in. In fact, he's looked like one of the better safeties in the league this year. Moore is good, but he's not consistent enough. Unfortunately the way it works in Atlanta is that it's never the best player that sees the field, but rather the guy making more money. A pretty similar case going on with Biermann/JMass right now. Hopefully, Mike Smith and the rest of the coaching staff can pull their heads out of their asses and see that Ishmael is the better player and that he needs to be on the field. I truly believe that even Southward has looked better than what Moore had before the injury happened. Just my .02 though. Anyway, cutting to the real story here: Falcons 10 Cardinals 24

    Browns @ Falcons

Had nothing to do with the defense. They played great all day considering how bad the defense usually is. Coaching fellas. We had the pressure for once, but for some reason are playing cover 3 in a situation where they need 45 yards to reach FG range? I just can't fathom a fade route to Hester against a premiere corner in the league when we needed to run the football. Mike Smith calls runs always when we are down and need plays, yet we are about to win and need to run click and he throws the ball and calls a time out for the other team? Mike Smith, folks. The reason why such a talented roster sits with 4 wins on the season. ARTHUR BLANK NEEDS TO MAKE HEADS ROLL. Fire Mike Smith! Further, how can you answer questions the way Smith did yesterday - in front of the owner none the less - and feel fine about it? What an idiot. When asked why he called the time out his only answer for it was "they would have used theirs if I hadn't used ours in that situation." Well no shit, that's the point jackass. Make them burn their time outs and let the clock run if they don't. We're in field goal range, let the clock run. He's ignorant and naive mistakes are costing us so much. Week after week we see sloppy coaching. A bad defense and a shotty offensive line, but whats really killing this is conservative play calling and bad end of game calls. Arthur was front and center during Smiths post game. Highly unusual for a team owner to do. I think the end is here.

    Falcons @ Panthers

Newton hasn't looked quite right to me since the start of the season. There are also a lot of questions, despite what coaches (and Newton) are saying, that Newton did indeed get injured last week. Is it not the wackiest thing in the NFL right now that both the Falcons (3-6) and the Panthers (3-6-1) are still in the race for the division title? That's just insane. In fact, with a Saints loss and a Falcons win today, the Falcons will be our division. Now as a note on the Falcons defense, I'm going to throw some knowledge at you guys. As of today, our passing defense is allowing a pretty significantly lower QB rating to opposing QBs than they did last year. 2013 - 102.4 2014 - 94.2 Crazy right? Right now the Falcons are playing as a top 10 defense - inside the red zone. However, you move the Falcons outside of the red zone, and they couldn't stop a nose bleed. It's the true definition of bend but don't break defense IMO. Also amazing is how well we are playing with our banged up offensive line. We are on our 3rd center and our 4th right tackle thus far. Only Jon Asomoah at RG has yet to sustain an injury. Jake Matthews has been playing with a sprained ankle since the middle of the 2nd quarter in week 2. They're saying he's finally patched up. Our starting LG Justin Blalock is in the midst of dealing with a foot injury right now, he's got the "questionable" tag for today. Honestly, if the Falcons can win today, I'm still holding out for a NY Giants type playoff run. But that's me being an optimistic fan. We have the tools, but I'm not sure that the Falcons have the leadership or the coaching to accomplish such a feat.

2nd Best Team in the AFC?

How can everyone immediately place Denver as the best team in the NFL? Just watching GameDay First this morning, I heard at least 3 different NFL Analysts talk about how Denver is the best team in the NFL and they are even better than they were last year. The second part of those statements, alright I agree with that. The first though, how are they? You're talking about a team that just a few weeks ago was absolutely destroyed by the Patriots. How can you call a team that loses in that type of fashion, the best team in the NFL? We can discuss the loss to the Seahawks as well. The Seahawks are a fantastic team, but in no way are they or have they been playing at the same level that they had last year. To lose those two games the way they did, and to still be touted as the best team in the AFC or the NFL is kind of ass backwards to me. I think the Broncos still have a lot of things they need to put together as they head toward the playoffs. You can not get blown out the way they did against the Patriots and then be considered the best team in the league. It just doesn't work IMO.

Report: 'Growing rift' between Lazor, players

Might just be at the point where he's finally starting to mature as a player. Which is a good thing. Talent is not the issue with Mike Wallace, his time in Pittsburgh made that clear IMO.

Report: 'Growing rift' between Lazor, players

I hate these types of reports when they are released. I think it's a below the belt move for players to speak out about their coaching staff without putting their name on it. More so, it's sloppy reporting and release of information to give information to the mass public without citing a source of that information. Just dumb imo. The second reason for me hating this, I feel like the players are just dumb. Clearly they are better on offense this year, they're winning at a higher level right now. How can you be doing this, and then say that you dislike your coaching staff? Wearing thin? What is that supposed to mean? It's their JOB to bring out your very best and if you are performing at a higher level than before they entered the picture, they are doing their job.

C.J. Spiller done for the season with broken collarbone

Bills reporters are saying that Spiller may play week 17. What's the point? Lol Much more so, Fred Jackson is going to carry the load when he returns. It could perhaps be his farewell tour. I expect huge things from Jackson upon return.

LeGarrette Blount replaces Dri Archer on kickoffs

Having Antonio Brown on my fantasy team, I've found myself watching the Steelers a bit. I've watched Archer, I don't think he looks nearly as quick as he had when he was with Kent State. So either he has lost some speed, which doesn't make sense to me, or he is just extremely indecisive with the football in his hands. I'm guessing the second option. Removing him from kick returns and replacing him with Blount only further supports that the Steelers are concerned about how indecisive he is.

Update: Nick Foles' broken collarbone confirmed

I don't really think it matters who Chip Kelly has at quarterback. His system seems to help quarterbacks. When you get the ball out of the quarterbacks hands and to the offensive playmakers as fast as his scheme does, it could probably make JaMarcus Russell look like an all-pro. All about getting the ball out of their hands quick and fooling the defense. Flat out, if Mark Sanchez looks fantastic filling in, you can credit Chip Kelly imo. If he looks terrible, I think we still need to place the blame on Sanchez. Just because Sanchez.

Josh McCown expected to miss 'several weeks'

I don't think starting McCown over Glennon at this point makes sense, solely on the fact that Glennon has out-performed McCown this season. So in that, I think that they are making the wrong move on that. I will say though, it doesn't really matter. The Bucs are terrible. McCown is clearly not the future at QB for the Bucs, he's aging and he's been terrible when on the field, but Glennon isn't the future either. So they aren't damning the franchise by benching Glennon at this point. It's pretty obvious they have no plans on moving forward with Glennon as their franchise quarterback. I think the best thing they could do at this point is let the season roll, see what happens, and then take Jameis Winston. Truth. As far as Lovie, I don't really feel like he has the personnel to run any half-decent defense. He's got a couple of really good pieces, one right in the middle of the defensive line that should be considered elite. But outside of that, there's nothing there. I don't think them being terrible is on Lovie right now. You have to give him at least a couple of years to get guys that fit what he wants to do. You can't do that in one off-season. Rome wasn't built in a day. I always say, head coaches deserve a three year window to start. By the third year, they should be performing with the division leaders. Usually by year 3, they have enough of their own hand picked pieces that they can contend if they are going to do anything at all.

Update: NFL suspends Aldon Smith 9 games

Washington was never named in the original retorted players list. Right now he still is suspended for the full season. Much more so, they're now saying that he could possibly be suspended for the first 6 games of 2015 because of the new Domestic Violence policy where the first offense is 6 games or whatever.

    2014 NASCAR Season Discussion

Did anyone see the conflict this past weekend? I'm so sick of this Keselowski guy. First off, let me just say that I am far from a Jeff Gordon fan. He has no bearing on what it is to respect someone who has been in the sport for so long, nor does he have any grip on what it means to respect your fellow drivers. People who have never been part of a race team or driven a race car can discuss all they want about how you drive as hard as you can and try to win races. That's not the way to win though, not in racing. If Keselowski pulled the type of crap on a Saturday night dirt track that he has been pulling on the Nascar circuit, he would have had his neck rung by an aging racer by now. "There was a hole", is what Keselowski said, no, that hole was not there. You're talking about a hole that was open for maybe a fraction of a second before Johnson and Gordon dove into the corner, you don't stick your nose in there, you just don't. It's now going on the 6th or 7th week where he's just been absolutely out of control. Then we have talking head Kyle Petty trying to compare him to Dale Earnhardt. No freaking way. The difference between Dale and Keselowski is that Dale didn't always race like that. When he first entered the sport, people don't realize he was a clean driver. It was years later after all the respect was learned and he had been in that group of drivers for so long that he really became "the intimidator". When you earn respect, fine, give someone the slide job to take the race out of their grasp, turn someone around. There were a lot of fights involving Dale, but never was it before that respect was absolutely earned. Anyone remember the old Gordon/Earnhardt days? Never did Gordon talk about Dale the way he does about Keselowski. ----- On a side note, I love the new chase format, it's fantastic! It has caused so much tension because guys are literally on the line every week. Ryan Newman is going to walk away with a championship in this thing. Heading into Miami, everyone is going to be wrecking eachother, I tell you what, Newman has been quiet and he's going to walk out of all the wrecks and fights unscathed in Miami. Much more so, let's all not forget that Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano, sitting 1 and 2 in points, have some extremely, seriously bad history. We're talking bad blood the past couple of years, worse than Keselowski vs the field. It could get real freaking interesting if those two are going for the championship in Miami. Keep your eyes open, it's going to be a wild one!

    Update: Marcus Lattimore Retires

Definitely a terrible situation for Lattimore. I think he could have been at the very least, a solid contributing running back in the league, maybe one of the best in the league. At this time last year though, I think a lot of people started to really begin to think that returning to football may not have been a feasible option for him. There were times where reports said he was doing great but then he would suffer a huge set back. I'm happy to hear that he's going back to South Carolina to finish his degree. When guys retire prematurely like this, you rarely hear that they are going to return to school and try to make something out of their life that could have otherwise been. I think that he's going to have a fine future ahead of him, he obviously had a great mental drive to want to try and return to begin with. Hopefully all turns out well, and heck, also glad he's going to use up that scholarship that so many collegiate athletes don't use to it's fullest!

Report: Tony Romo has two fractures in his back

This is a little off topic I suppose, but I just can't stand how no matter what type of news is coming out of Dallas, Jerry Jones is always questioned about it by the reporters. I mean, he acts like he's an expert on everything. Jerry Jones doesn't know crap! EndRant. I think that if I'm the Cowboys, I hold Romo out for two games. They've got Murray running absolutely fantastic right now. The fact he's running so well just means that all they really need to do is have Weeden come in and play game manager for the most part. They don't need to ask him to do anything spectacular. Just go in, make some short and intermediate passes, and hand the ball off. Keep Romo out 2 weeks and get him a bit healthier. This looks like it could be their best shot right now in a long time, no sense throwing it away by sending Romo back too early.
