Maybe it's just me, but over the past season and a half I feel he's been a top-5 receiver. He could even eclipse last season as spectacular as it was.

He's on pace to eclipse it I'm pretty sure.

Just seems like no matter who is covering him, he is always open. When he's not open, he makes circus catches. He's a lot like Mike Wallace, except with a shit ton more talent. Unbelievable what the guy can do.

  2. Everything about Manziel being a starter scares the hell out of me from a football perspective in the sense that, I'm not sure if he's going to be able to play successfully at the NFL level without changing the way he plays.

I'm not sure you throw in the towel on Hoyer yet. He's had one bad game. I think that he puts the Browns in the best position to win games by just taking care of the football. I understand that the Browns want flash, and that may not be with Hoyer, but their not that far off. Giving up on Hoyer after one bad game would kill the teams confidence IMO.

  3. The Falcons looked fantastic on both sides of the ball in the 1st half. Set the run up with those short dink and dunk passes, they did everything right. Got the ball out of Matts hands quickly too which was great.

The defense looked stout, we were sending blitzes from all sorts of positions on the field, it looked refreshing to say the least.

Then the second half hit, and man, I'll be damned if they didn't look like a completely different football team - par for the Mike Smith era I suppose. Everyone in Atlanta loves Mike Smith, and everything he has done for us to this point, same goes for Koetter I suppose, but at some point it gets real stale. There are no excuses as to why we lost the game this morning, none at all. For the past 4 years now, every time the team has come out of the half with a lead of any margin, we get extremely conservative and completely go away from what has been working on offense and we fail to adjust on defense. It's just ugly. At some point, no matter the history and the great things Smith has done, you have got to realize when the gig is up. Mike Smith has lost that glimmer he earned himself now.

The Falcons have all sorts of talent basically everywhere on the field, and we can't get our guys to play. We need a motivator of a coach, not a guy like Mike Smith. The quiet reserved just doesn't work with young players, and that's what we have in a lot of spots. When you come out and perform the way we have in the first half of a lot of games, then you're just terrible out of half, there's nothing else to say other than it's got to be the coaching staff.

Our offensive plays looked terrible after half-time. Come out in that same singleback-I formation and just try to run the ball constantly, that isn't our game. Mike Tice has done a fantastic job with our offensive line as beaten up and run down as it is, but we aren't going to win the shoving matches like that right now. I understand wanting to run the clock in the second half with a three possession lead, but you have to realize when it's just not going to work. Our coaches fail to do that. Same goes with Mike Nolan on the defensive side of the ball. The second half began and once again just like in the past, our defense moved to a manila zone defense scheme. We ran a lot of man coverage gap blitzes in the first half, but it disappeared in the second half. It's just not adding up as to why this happens. All you can assume is that Mike Smith makes the call to play conservatively and it doesn't work out.

This can't keep going on. We need to get a new head coach in Atlanta, that's all there is to it.

Also, I'm starting to think Julio Jones is as unclutch as it gets. Guy is an absolutely amazing player and he makes circus catches all the time. Whenever the game is on the line though, he makes the worst drops I've ever seen. This goes back to me wanting a coach who is a real motivator to get our guys' 110% out. The drops, the missed tackles, the sloppy coverage when the game is on the line,it's all just got to get cleaned up.

On another note, it sucks to lose the way we did on that final field goal. BUT, despite what Falcons fans are crying about, the call the refs made was the right call. While any other penalty on the field probably would have ended the game on the first miss, this was the exception of them getting another chance. The play was actually blown dead just as they snapped the ball, so Prater took that "free" kick that they always talk about getting in a penalty situation. That wasn't one of the fouls that a deferral ends the game. Quite frankly, we didn't lose because of that anyway.

  4. There's kind of no sense in this conversation in my opinion. Potential can never outweigh a players determination to be the best.

Julius Peppers achievements and stats speak for themselves at this point.

I voted yes that he reached his potential because how can a players potential be any higher than what they accomplish if they haven't got the determination to accomplish more? Two or three consecutive years in Carolina, while he was still the best in the game, his determination was questioned and he actually was smashed for not always "trying", much like Clowney in his senior season. I just don't think there was any more potential than what he accomplished based on how he played.

  5. So you agree with a full season when there is a guy who more than likely raped a woman playing and never getting any sort of punishment?

Also, the level of proof in this case is weak. Video showed no exchange of money, all you saw was a guy with dreads in a car signing something, to top it off the accuser is someone of a rival school ...

  6. Myself begins to wonder, what if.....What if a player decided to have a big yard sale and they sold something that was technically of NCAA stature because it was like university hat or shirt or something.

Or what if a guy borrowed 20 bucks from a friend for gas to get to class. Oh wait...That is a violation.. That I already know for a fact. Basically, you're fucked if you ever get close to low on money when you're in college playing for the NCAA. People can cry foul about it all they want and say that they are getting a "free" ride through college so that's why the rule is in place, but I find that hogwash.

Diabetes is a condition where the body cells cannot effectively make use of the glucose in the blood to produce energy or storage. This is due to the lack of insulin (Type I) or Insulin Resistance (Type II). In another words, the inability of the body to make good use of the glucose to turn it into energy will greatly reduce your body ability to perform continuous physical activity such as running.

I was sort of agreeing with you on how I felt about it too BWare, but I went a little further and read a few different things from some sports medicine websites and such to find out how or if at all it effects athletes.

In a sport like sprinting, or a marathon, it can have a great impact. But a sport like football, it shouldn't impact your level of performance at all really, especially at the quarterback position. While I suppose there's always a chance that any player at any position gets to that point of energy use, I doubt that Jay Cutler does. Football is definitely a physical and tiring sport, but I'm not buying (after reading several different articles about it) that the diabetes has any effect on a quarterbacks level of play. No way. There's just no way a quarterback would get that run down, unless they were in a no-huddle offense where they were called on to run the football 75-100% of the time. There's just no way. So many breaks.

  8. Georgia won't be in any trouble, except losing every game from here on out (Aside from the paid stomping-routes). They've also lost 3 defensive backs in the past week to team dismissals. But that's another story.

I understand that it's a rule that Gurley knew and he shouldn't have broken it, so I could understand a 1, 2, even 3 game suspension. But remainder of the year? Come on now!

  9. 1. DeMarcus Ware. :Broncos: Who would have guessed, right?

    2. Marshawn Lynch. :Seahawks: Fantastic player to watch who rarely loses yards.

    3. Thomas Davis. :panthers: 3 surgeries doesn't often equate to underrated stud who might be better than his running mate who everybody loves.

    4. Tyrann Mathieu. :Cardinals: Playmaker!

    5. Fred Jackson. :Bills: He's been the best back in Buffalo for years and yet he always gets talked about like the second stringer. Annoys me.

Technically, Fred Jackson is the 2nd stringer. I never really understood that though either. I feel like the Bills keep Spiller atop the depth because of his big play potential, and more so because they are stuck on him. They know he can make huge plays, but man, sometimes he is just painful to watch. Jackson has been a model of consistency.

  10. Antonio Brown

    Justin Houston

    Chandler Jones

    Muhammad Wilkerson

    Arthur Jones

Had to throw one out to the Jones' brothers. My cousin went to school with Arthur at Maine Endwell. Cool family too. I enjoy watching to see what their going to do, I've never met them personally, but I have met Jon "Bones" Jones, who still actually owns a home around here. Favorite pub, "Stu's Place" lol. Dude can drink!

Vick knew how to win games. Period.

In the playoffs, in the season. We could count on him if necessary. We put the game on Ryan with EVERYTHING around him and he still chokes.

Vick was electric, he could create plays where there were none, and ultimately played on some shit teams and still made the most of it.

With this post, I've instantly come to the conclusion that either one, you are drunk... Or two, you're an absolute raging idiot to think Vick was better than Ryan.

Vick knew how to win games? Vick didn't even know the damn playbook and he admitted that. The only thing that kept Vick from the doghouse (harrrr) and the bench was the fact that he was a high draft pick and he could run. The latter probably mostly due to the fact he spent most his life running from thugs and police officers. He sucked as a quarterback.

  11. The thing that gets me with Wilson is the fact that I really believe he has no fear on the field. He can have linebackers and defensive ends breathing down the front collar of his jersey and still make a beautiful pass or spin around and run to the other end of the field.

I don't think Wilson is in that top 4 category yet for me, but he certainly passes every eye test I've put to him.

  12. Turf toe generally requires surgery, doesn't it? After the season? I mean, is shutting him down going to help that much if he can re-aggravate it at any time?

Not always. It can be treated without surgery I think. Thing is though, if you go the route of no surgery, you have to basically have it completely rested at all times, if you aggravate it too much, it will push you toward sure surgery. I think majority of athletes actually go forward without surgery now for turf toe.

Green first came down with the injury week 2 against the Falcons. So I wouldn't be surprised, with him playing on it sense then, if he has aggravated it a bit and the coaches want to play it safe from here on out. I get that they are in a great situation this year so far, but we aren't talking about a player that may change how this year flows for them, we're talking about a franchise player that will change the course of the Bengals offensive path for years to come. Best to take it easy with him to prevent permanent damage at this point IMO.

On another note with this discussion, if AJ Green sits out for a while, I guess we all get to see if the Bengals made the right call paying Dalton?

  13. Unanimous approval! The Bills are here to stay!

Pretty awesome IMO. Pegula will be a great owner for the Bills, mostly because he's definitely got that "I want to see wins, not ticket sales" mentality in him. He's a competitor, which is often rare when it comes to franchise owners.
