What player would you take from your opponents team?
KempBolt replied to Dutch's topic in General NFL Talk
I'll take Nick Mangold. Our interior OL has been an abomination. -
This sucks for Allen. How could anyone seriously have any idea what kind of coach he is? Never should have taken that job.

Redskins probably roll because these teams are even otherwise and they're at home on TNF. Stupid TNF.

Weddle plays in the box a lot, but he's a dynamo in coverage too. Flowers has been great for us so far. Sorry we don't have any stud interior linemen for you. -
If the Jets had given that last carry to Ivory, I would have lost my FF matchup this week. They gave it to Powell and I won. I know you all care soooooo much.

I just watched Vernon Adams play Montana State on Saturday. He mostly sucked. No pressure and still a lot of off target throws.

Uhhh... this is weird but maybe Gerhart? I think he's actually a pretty good player. We need help at RB pretty bad. -
I take mobility over immobility where all else is equal, but it hardly ever is. I'm highly skeptical of these run heavy QB's because I think their legs often prevent them from hanging in and learning to exhaust all options from the pocket. Not to say it can't be done, but more often than not I think these guys fail to develop fully as passers. Plus, a heavy rush load in the NFL will land these guys on the injury report early and often. I think the majority of top level QB's in the NFL will continue to be pocket passers who only take off as a last resort. If they're anything like me, they're going to find him excessively annoying.

I'm a Russell Wilson apologist, but the guy has to stop retreating from edge pressure. I'm not saying he shouldn't scramble, but when the pass rusher has the edge, and you back up, you're making it next to impossible to create a positive play. Step up in the pocket, and scramble from there if need be. He retreated multiple times against the Chargers and it resulted in negative plays and throwaways. Then yesterday, Turbin had perfect position to negate a blitzing T.J. Ward and it didn't matter because Wilson backed himself into a sack.
-
I'm more interested in Connor Cook. Or, looking forward, Christian Hackenberg.

If it's by design, it's a terrible design. Because I've seen him do that maybe 6 times over the last two weeks and it hasn't gone well at any point. But I don't buy that it's on purpose.

Time will tell. He was great vs Buffalo today and Danny got hurt almost immediately.

Russell Wilson's biggest problem this year has been retreating against edge pressure, rather than climbing the pocket. I don't know if stepping up makes it hard for him to see the field, but that Ward sack a minute ago was his fault.

Hangs them out to dry too. Receivers are going to get sick of playing with him. He needs to get the ball down.

The weather wasn't a factor and Rivers could throw... that made all the difference. I think the Bills are better than the Chargers overall, but not at QB where it counts the most. We have a huge advantage there and that made all the difference. Takes: - Rivers is a boss - EJ Manuel is not good - Our interior offensive line sucks
-
The hits just keep on coming. Mathews and Ingram will be out. Allen will be limited. Our banged up interior OL has to face Williams/Dareus. It's an early east coast kickoff. There's going to be heavy rains which may negate our advantage in the passing game. Ugh... I am just not feeling good about this. Not trying to build in excuses. I won't bring any of this back up if we lose. I'm just not optimistic.
-
Smart money is probably on the Bills. 1:00 pm eastern... yech. But I do think that the Bills ground game is overrated. They racked up a bunch of junk yardage in garbage time of losses last year because they still ran from behind. And this year Spiller and Jackson have had one big scamper a piece, and are otherwise living right around ~2.7 YPC. I'm afraid of Kyle Williams. I think he may eat our interior offensive line.

Just when you think the unpredictability of the NFL has become predictably unpredictable, it zags with some unpredictable predictability.

I'm picking the Falcons because they're at home on a Thursday night. If this game was in Tampa, I'd be really tempted to pick the Bucs. From afar, it would seem that the major problems for TB have been an overcommitment to the running game and an inability to protect McCown. But sticking to the run could be a great game plan against the Falcons-- they can be run on, and you end up sustaining long drives and keeping the ball away from their offense. And when you have to throw, they don't have the horses up front on defense to cause you problems. And while the Bucs are struggling to find a pass rush up front, they might be helped out by the offensive line that Atlanta is forced to field. All that said, its TNF and Atlanta is at home so I'm rolling with the Falcs. 24 20

Gotta shoot from the hip baby! That's how I roll and 7 out of 16 ain't bad!

It's interesting to watch unfold. The good news is that the offense can still go with his limitations if they persist. But one has to wonder if Chip will go hot after another QB in the offseason.
