So you're fine with a 3rd round talent in the 1st if it's a need and said player might be gone in the round where you actually see his value being appropriate? You don't see how doing that habitually could wreck a team? Because I've seen it first hand over the last half a decade in San Diego. Occasionally reaching for need works out, but that doesn't make it a good practice because it's going to fail more often than it succeeds. The argument you're making is the sa...

Yep. You're not hearing what I'm saying. Frederick looks like a fine center, but your team's willingness to take 3rd round talents in round 1 should be a red flag. That WILL bite your team's roster most times, even if it hasn't THIS time. Similar to A.J. Smith drafting players way above their talent level like Larry English and Jacob Hester.

It's mind-bending that a Cowboys fan can definitively know that his team rated a player a 3rd rounder, drafted that player in the 1st round, and still defend doing so. I guess I would try my best to defend Jerry too if I knew I was stuck with him. Ownership taking over the GM role is probably about the worst thing that can happen to an organization.

You don't get it. THEY rated him a 3rd rounder. And then drafted him in the first. If you have any scrap of sense, that should frighten you regardless of how it is turning out. And you're saying that was fine, but having a receiver of Allen's talent on the board ANYWHERE was unnecessary. You're defending ineptitude.

All I've said is that he's on track for a very good rookie year. That's just the truth without embellishment. But "middle of the road" is a funny way to describe a guy who every draft analyst pegged as a first round talent (and who is playing like it). Seems like the type you might want on your draft board.

Your point that he generally starts fast and implodes? No, he didn't prove that because it's still wrong. I figured you'd have something to say about that game. And it was a bad game. But the reality is that you can't prove a trend that never happened. You're sticking to your guns on this one, but the numbers in past seasons are clear- Rivers has traditionally enjoyed his best performances in November and December. Enjoy the ignorance.

I'm pretty dang happy for the guy. He takes a lot of unwarranted criticism from fans/media for supposed character flaws that don't actually exist. So when his play declines last season, people were all too willing to pile on. Now he just needs to keep it up. Off topic- but I think the Eagles might wind up in perfect position to land Mariota or Hundley is one or both come out.
