Even if a shooter has a mental illness, it's unlikely that is the causative factor. Even with the severe mental illnesses associated with statistically significant predispositions to violence (itself an ambiguous term), the circumstances behind violence still come down to the individual and are much more complex than one factor (though the statistical significance indicates that if violence is already an issue, then such conditions will likely exacerbate it).

    This.

And I won't pretend to know all that much about mental illness and I will agree it is more than likely an exacerbating factor but you still have to act on your thoughts and that is a decision you, individually control, at least most of the time. This guy planned to do this for at least a year from what I have read into it, so you can't really say he got a crazy impulse. To me, you can't really blame mental illness and just because he had a rough life doesn't excuse him from the logic of morals. He knew what he was doing.

Here is the question: guns haven't changed over the years....so why are school shootings exponentially up this generation? Why is it a thing?

Personally, I think it is a combination of media attention and weakness. But there is no going back now.

I am definitely anti-gun control but the beauty of the US is that we can find the right balance and improve things on guns while still allowing people to have their guns. I have been for common sense gun control since Obama really sported it in his last year. The devil is truly in the details here but there is no question some people should be flagged and unable to acquire guns.

And maybe I am crazy, but why not harsher, even brutal, punishment for people like this?

  3. No how did people forget about Jordan Reed for Washington

Always injured bro and for perspective, his fellow teammate & TE Vernon Davis has produced more yards than him over the past two seasons.

  4. Browns have proven they are very terrible at drafting, so they need to keep their high picks to lessen the chance of them missing (again).

I take Darnold & Barkley if they are there, as they are most definitely #1 & #2 on my big board.

Darnold projects to be much better than Cousins & Keenum. The Browns have an o-line in place. They do have decent running backs already but Barkley is a game changing athlete.

  11. I hope he can turn Indy around but part of me wishes he waited for an opening with a better organization. Really happy he got this shot though. He seemed to do well in Philly after not doing so great in SD (how much of that is on McCoy?). And he definitely got to learn under an awesome HC in Philly.

  12. Like I said last night, in Collinsworth's defense, those calls in a regular season game are called the opposite way they were called last night nine out of ten times. Which it wouldn't surprise me if last night was how those calls should be called, and every other time they're wrong, but that's where the issue lies. This stuff should be cut and dry based on how refs have previously called things.

It wasn't just the calls, he was terrible all around but even then I still disagree with you.

Taking three steps and diving after catching the ball is pretty cut and dry to me.

The Clement one has some gray area based on how he secured the ball to his side and it slightly moved as he was falling (more of a product as to how it was secured and him falling). See SteVo's post, nitpick all you want, that call stands 9/10 IMO due to inconclusive evidence and SteVo is right about possession even if the ball moves.

Most of the "what constitutes a catch" confusion probably stems from jackasses like Colinsworth in the media who don't really understand the rules or how to apply them.

  13. did you notice how much he was talking up Justin Timberlake too? lol

Yeah, I remember that at the end. I don't watch the half time show as I have never liked it, so I can't speak to JT's performance other than I probably would not have liked it.

  14. Colinsworth was so bad last night it wasn't even funny. "I can't wait for them to make that call and overturn the touchdown" "well those in Pittsburgh will wonder why this wasn't overturned" DESPITE the fact that the guy was clearly a runner.

The other touchdown...."well gee wizz that ball looks like it was moving" As Clemente was moving the ball to secure it.

Not to mention him going on and on about the Patriots. "Ertz channeling his inner Gronk" as he runs a simple in route that has been done for ages.

The best part was Brady fumbling on the game winning drive after he told us how great Brady is on the final drive like 6 times in 5 different ways of saying it.

  15. These are easy for us but I think even some casual football fans would probably get stumped by some of these. Two history questions, two very situational things, and an option play which is pretty much exclusive to college football. I mean at most, the exposure these guys had were probably the odd superbowl party or a college football game in person.

  16. Didn't see Oregon game which I heard was a complete shitshow. Iowa wasn't terrible, but showed the ups and downs he has a prospect. Really good tape to watch on him to get an overall view.

After watching the Iowa tape, I'd agree as far as an overall view. BUT I still don't see a lot of the accuracy criticisms he gets. He is by no means perfect...but the passes he missed...I have seen NFL QBs, like Rivers, miss from time to time. And a lot of the missed throws would probably be caught in the NFL (or we'd see a better effort at least). The one area I do see him struggling in is reads/receiver lock on. The Josh Jackson, while a very good player by all accounts, interception was on him. And he nearly threw one to Josey Jewell (another good player).
