FSUViking 184 Posted April 11, 2011 Heartbreak v3.0: UGA lineman suffers another ACL tearPosted by John Taylor on April 10, 2011, 8:26 PM EDT If you happen to be in the mood this evening for feeling some sympathy toward an individual you likely don’t know, set a sizable chunk of it aside for Trinton Sturdivant. Lord knows the young man needs it. In 2008, the Georgia offensive lineman suffered a season-ending ACL injury during the middle portion of summer camp (and click on the link if for nothing more than the author of the post stooping down to the collegiate level). In the 2009 season opener against Oklahoma State, Sturdivant suffered a season-ending ACL injury. Unbelievably, and in heartbreaking fashion, Sturdivant has once again been dealt the exact same injury card. UGA announced Sunday evening that the senior has been diagnosed with a torn ACL in his right knee. The injury occurred during the Bulldogs’ Saturday scrimmage. Head athletic trainer Ron Courson told the Macon Telegraph through a team spokesperson that Sturdivant will “undergo surgery some time this week to repair the knee ligament and is expected to conduct his rehab at UGA.†Sturdivant started every game as a freshman in 2007 and, after returning from back-to-back ACL tears, started seven games at left tackle in 2010. Based on Sturdivant’s injury history, he would appear to be a lock for a sixth season of eligibility if he decides that’s the path he wants to take and has the desire to apply for the waiver. Hell, based on his injury history, he should be eligible for a seventh season. SOURCE: CFT Hope this kid has his degree because football obviously is not in his future.
