BLUE 1,026 Posted May 3, 2011 Associated Press Published: May 3, 2011 at 06:00 p.m. Updated: May 3, 2011 at 06:06 p.m. BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix has all but ruled out the likelihood of the team re-signing safety Donte Whitner. Nix told Buffalo's WEDG-Radio that he doesn't believe Whitner wants to return to the team, and that means "he probably won't." Whitner was Buffalo's 2006 first-round draft pick and completed his five-year contract last season. Whitner was unhappy with the Bills final contract offer in December, and said he expected to test free agency. Nix added the team is more interested in re-signing veteran cornerback Drayton Florence. All contract talks are on hold pending the resolution of the NFL's labor dispute with its players. Source: NFL.com

Turry 755 Posted May 5, 2011 Free agent S Donte Whitner refuses to rule out re-signing with the Bills even if all signs point to the team going in a different direction.GM Buddy Nix made it fairly clear that the drafting of Da'Norris Searcy had sealed Whitner's exit. The free agent responded Thursday that all hurt feelings would be forgotten if he returned and played well. We don't see it happening.
