O-Town 3 Posted July 29, 2011 (edited) I looked around and couldn't find this topic anywhere... So my buddies keep saying Brown is an idiot for burying Palmer into retirement. I think it's admirable. I think if Palmer would have kept quiet and spoke with brown on the side he would have been on the trading block. I mean Boomer stayed loyal to Cincy until the end of his career and was released to sign with teh JETS because of the professionalism he showed the organization. Carson signed that ridiculous contract knowing the conditions the team was facing. Enjoy your retirement buddy... Edited July 29, 2011 by O-Town
blotsfan 2,112 Posted July 29, 2011 Brown is dumb. Why let him retire and get nothing when you could get a good pick or player in return?
FlyingKIMBOB21 3 Posted July 29, 2011 Brown is making a statement to the players, he's telling him that you can't just leave when you feel like it. If he had let Palmer leave it would have set a dangerous precedent of their top players demanding trades when things aren't going well just because the players want to play for a better team. What would be the point of trading him when in a years time that player does the same thing "trade me or a retire". Players coming in now know that their contract is a full committment to the team.
O-Town 3 Posted July 29, 2011 What do you think they would get for him Blotsfan? Denver is having a hard enough time moving Orton. You think Palmer would get more than a 3rd round pick?
Super dude 0 Posted July 29, 2011 I think it's a bad move Carson still has value why not trade him to get draft picks and or vets to fill the holes that Cincy needs.

BwareDWare94 723 Posted July 31, 2011 Yes, Carson Palmer is no longer the elite QB he once was, but he's a lot better than most of the remaining "good" quarterbacks. Minnesota should have been all over this. Hell, Minnesota's wish list should have been: 1. Orton 2. Palmer 3. Vince Young 4. McNabb

Who cares if all he brings in is a third? It's better than nothing, which is what you're getting if you don't trade him, cause he's retiring.
