RANGA+ 1,210 Posted October 25, 2011 (edited) Is it just me or are we seeing more blowouts than usual this season? Now I consider a "blowout" any game where one team wins by more than 21pts (three touchdowns). Just had a quick look at the results through 7 weeks, and so far SEVENTEEN games have ended in a point differential of 21pts or greater. Six of those seventeen games were also won by at least FIVE touchdowns. I'm not too sure, but I can't remember the last time I've seen so many one-sided games this early into the season. I'm also not too sure as to why this is. Are some teams still weary from the lockout? Are the slew of lame rule changes making it too easy for offenses? Have some teams given up already? Year #of Blowouts 2007 = 17 2008 = 22 2009 = 24 2010 = 17 It's always normal for there to be a large amount of blowouts. Some teams are on the top of the food chain, while others are on the bottom. It also takes younger/newer teams—teams with a lot of new players—awhile to "gel." Toward the end of the year, you'll see teams wear down and even give up. Blowouts are part of the game.
