Playmaker 2 Posted December 5, 2012 The Green Bay Packers didn't exactly want to re-sign running back Ryan Grant this season. Now they have to. Relive every game this season online and on-demand with enhanced viewing features, including the "All-22" coaches film. Get NFL Game Rewind. Jason Wilde of ESPNMilwaukee.com reports that Grant is headed back to the team, with Grant as the source for the report. (Pretty reliable.) The news follows Tuesday's report that James Stark could be placed on season-ending injured reserve. The Packers avoided signing Grant in the offseason. They finally picked up Cedric Benson to add a veteran presence when Starks hurt his toe in training camp, and now need Grant to help out with Benson and Starks apparently out for the season. Alex Green and John Kuhn also figure to get carries as the Packers try to cobble together a running game. Green has failed to step up as a reliable rotation back. Kuhn is a useful puzzle piece as a short-yardage back, but they don't want to count on him too much. Grant missed nearly all of Green Bay's Super Bowl championship season on injured reserve, with Starks putting together a nice playoff run. It would be poetic justice for Grant's career if he winds up helping the Packers make another push for a title as an injury replacement this year. UPDATE: The Packers officially announced the signing Wednesday. Maybe they can get a run game going again.
Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted December 5, 2012 FUCK YA. Let's go Ryan. Prove those assholes in the front office wrong! Best running back on the roster!!
housemd 338 Posted December 5, 2012 Packers coach Mike McCarthy confirmed at Wednesday's presser that James Starks (knee) will be sidelined "multiple weeks." According to McCarthy, the Packers initially believed Starks had only suffered a bruise, but the injury "flared up" on Monday. At this stage, "multiple weeks" could very well mean the season. The news leaves Alex Green as the Packers' clear feature back, with John Kuhn likely to be mixed in on third downs and near the goal-line. McCarthy expects newly signed Ryan Grant to be active on Sunday, which means DuJuan Harris could be a healthy scratch. Green is the only Packers back worth flex consideration. JetsFan4Life 542 Posted December 6, 2012 Dam that sucks about Starks since he looked pretty good in the Vikings game from what I saw. It seems he can never catch a break with injuries.
PackIsBack 124 Posted December 11, 2012 It was nice to see Grant running the ball again yesterday! Hopefully he can stay healthy and be productive for us because we've been having some bad luck with the health of our running backs this season. It's very nice to have him back
Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted December 11, 2012 Hopefully he gets some more time in there this week against the Bears!
