Mentch 42 Posted October 11, 2013 (edited) This goes for when both shows were at their best (from 1995-05) Personally I think it's MadTV and it's not even close. SNL feels redundant and like they overdid their shit, there's a reason everyone says it's terrible nowadays. It was alright when it was at its best but still nothing that made me burst out laughing. Plus MadTV both had Key and Peele. Say what you want about MadTV being "corny" but last time I checked there's nothing even remotely funny about 2 guys french kissing (which is the type of humor that SNL seems to rely on more often than not) You cant say this isnt funny as shit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TR-LzpXBH5g&feature=player_embedded Edited October 11, 2013 by Mentch
Barracuda 629 Posted October 11, 2013 SNL was at it's best when it first started. 1975. That SNL > Any MadTV.
Milla4Prez63 678 Posted October 12, 2013 Classic SNL was totally better, but SNL of late is lame. Is MadTV still running or did they cancel it?
Mentch 42 Posted October 12, 2013 Classic SNL was totally better, but SNL of late is lame. Is MadTV still running or did they cancel it? They cancelled it like a few years ago, I dont really blame them cuz the show was getting kinda meh. But it was pretty good its first 10 years
GA_Eagle 595 Posted October 12, 2013 SNL. Has had highs and lows but its highs were really funny. Always had a thing for Kids in the Hall, as well though its kind of a different brand of sketch comedy.
BwareDWare94 723 Posted October 12, 2013 SNL strikes gold now and then, still. The Ray Lewis bit last year was effing hilarious.
theMileHighGuy 656 Posted October 12, 2013 (edited) I actually really like SNL lately. Jay Pharoah, Keenan Thompson, Tarran Killem(sp), Bobby Moynahan, Nasim Pedrad are all super funny. I like Kate Mckinnon and the big girl(can't think of her name) too. This season has been pretty good so far, but Fred Armisen, John Heder and Jason Sudekis are gone this season and they really held it together. I never really liked MadTV that much, it had a couple good recurring sketches but it didn't stand up to SNL in its heyday. My favorite cast is definitely the late 90s, early 2000s, Ferrel/Cheri Oteri/Ana Gastayer/Fallon/Horatio Sans/Meadows/Poehler/Faye/Armisen/Darrel Hammond it was a pretty solid 10 year stretch or so. Jay Pharoah doing Shannon Sharpe http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/07/jay-pharoah-shannon-sharpe-impression-video-snl_n_4057615.html His Steven A. Smith is fantastic too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzVzPp-GyNE Edited October 12, 2013 by theMileHighGuy
BwareDWare94 723 Posted October 12, 2013 What I could never stand about MadTV and SNL were the women that each had that were cast just because they could be extremely annoying. SNL had Amy Poehler, and she was just fucking annoying at first. Awful.
