FartWaffles 1,857 Posted August 23, 2016 So I've really been getting into art as of late and want to start purchasing some pieces for my new place in the near future. I was just wondering if y'all had any favorite artists that you would recommend. If it's more than $200, I probably won't buy it, but I'm still down to see any good artist's work. I like weird trippy/stuff so don't hold back. Vin+ 3,121 Posted August 23, 2016 I remember in my humanities class forever ago that one that stuck out to me was J.M.W. Turner. Gotta dig through my memory for some others. https://www.art.com/gallery/id--a259010/j-m-w-turner-posters.htm No idea about artists who are currently alive, though.

GA_Eagle 595 Posted August 24, 2016 (edited) I really like Gary Welton. I don't exactly have a word for his style but he's very into catching form in motion Edited August 24, 2016 by GA_Eagle
oochymp 2,393 Posted August 24, 2016 I'm sure you're familiar with him, but my first thought when you mentioned weird/trippy stuff was MC Escher, my favorite MC, I'm sure you could get reprints of his pretty cheap
CampinWithaMissingPerson 2,025 Posted August 24, 2016 (edited) James Jean is one of my favs, he's got very wild shit. This used to be my twitter background: This one was extra dope to me because I was obsessed with drawing elephants (and goats) myself for a bit, old sharpie drawing I did here: I actually drew it on a shirt with black sharpie too but tweaked it a bit to go under the armpit but yeah back to James Jean the gawd for more just look up his name, dunno how expensive his stuff is though honestly, I found out about him through one of my other favs from back when I was young, David Choe when I was really into graffiti, who you should check out too if you didn't already know about him I'm actually gonna get back into painting myself again now that I quit my job. Already have a few pieces in mind from my tumultuous year that has been 2016. Edited August 24, 2016 by CampinWithGordonRamsay
