  1. Edit: And all these "Ron Paul beats Obama in the national election according to polls" is absurd. Has Ron Paul won a single election primary yet?

First of all, I haven't seen anything that says Paul beats Obama, but in all of the projections I've seen, he does very well against Obama, usually better than Santorum or Gingrich.

As for the primaries, Paul may have won Maine and Iowa (votes in the caucus still to be decided, etc.), but that's not the point. How Paul fares in the votes vs. other Republicans is not the same as how he will fare vs. Obama. In a general election, Ron Paul has more of the ability to sway the middle ground voters (where elections are decided), as well as younger voters, who would probably side with Obama against any of the other Republican candidates.

  2. Everyone is expecting them to get a worse punishment than the Patriots. What do you guys think happens to them? I believe they lose at least 2 1st round picks, Payton and Williams get fined $500,000 each and the organization gets another $250,000.

Don't forget that Spygate was just on the coaching staff. Since players took part in this, I would expect individual fines/suspensions to get handed out as well.

    This is gonna get ugly.

  3. I was just about to ask, actually....

Spygate has followed the Patriots and for many fans... Tainted their dynasty and numerous Super Bowl victories.

Does this new unveiling the Saints Bounties tarnish their Super Bowl victory over the Indianapolis Colts?!

I don't think this will be seen to be as much of a "cheat" as Spygate was, if that makes sense, but it will certainly give the Saints teams of this era a "dirty" reputation and absolutely cast a very dark cloud over their Super Bowl win.

  4. Jeremy Maclin had a really rough off season which translated into a really tough regular season but he still managed to be decent. I still have faith in Maclin. I think all that stuff that happened last year was sorta flukey. I think a mid level vet and a draft pick would have been oke to fill DeSean's shoes because I fully believe Maclin will stretch the field a lot more next year.

I'm expecting big things from Maclin as well, though we still need someone to fill that #2 role, because Avant is a fine slot guy and Cooper is a decent #4 but probably nothing more. Wouldn't mind Michael Floyd, though I'd rather sign some mid-level guy like Stevie Johnson. Who knows, maybe DeSean still gets traded for a 2nd round pick or something.

  5. Right, I agree, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Especially since Drew Brees said he was "baffled" at the lack of progress in negotiations. If this report is true (and it may not be), and Brees turned down the most lucrative offer in NFL history, I'm not sure what right he has to call out the Saints on negotiations going slow.

    Man, contract issues are nasty.

  6. Oh I hear ya, I'm just saying that there is at least one option out there where America has some hope. And it's terribly unfortunate that he has such a small chance of winning, for the reasons you listed.

The way I look at it, the chances of some real, positive good coming to this country if Ron Paul is elected is somewhere between 30 and 40 percent. (The establishment is strong; one man can only do so much.) But if Romney, Santorum, or Gingrich win? Less than 5 percent. If Obama is reelected? Less than 1 percent.

  7. BUT HEZ SUPER FAST STEVO!!!!

    :p

I won't deny that DeSean's impact as a vertical threat makes our offense much better. Hell, during the game (forget who we were playing) this season when DeSean was hurt, nobody was getting open. Nobody. It was 2007 all over again. I'm not sure if that's indicative of our other receivers' inability to separate, Andy Reid's inability to draw up strong plays, or both. In either case, we definitely need a vertical receiver to fill that role; I just don't think DeSean should be that guy, and I'm pretty sure you agree with me.

  8. The only way I could believe this is if Condon wanted to wait until this offseason to see if anybody else (Peyton Manning, Mario Williams, etc.) became the highest paid player in history, so they could get even more money. Brees never struck me as the money-first type of player, though, so this is a little disappointing. But hell, they all go for the money. Sad but true.

If Brees is playing for any team other than the Saints next year, then I'll really lose hope.

  9. So...are the Steelers under the cap yet? If not, how much more do they have to cut?

EDIT: Nevermind, apparently the Steelers are about $10 million under the cap right now. So, if I'm the Patriots, I'm offering Wallace a front-loaded contract where he makes $12-$14 million this season. Try to force Pittsburgh's hand.
