Henery did get a lot better down the stretch, but I couldn't vote against Bailey in terms of the entire season.

Alright, it's been a fun season so far, but next week is gonna be super tough: a road trip to Tennessee, ranked 10th, and one of the toughest environments to play in. Gonna be a tough one but if we can escape with a win, the rest of the regular season schedule is cake.

Per Football Outsiders' Brian McIntyre, the Steelers have freed up over $18 million in cap space since the season ended.The moves have included cutting CB Bryant McFadden and WR Arnaz Battle, and redoing the contracts of CB Ike Taylor, and LBs Lawrence Timmons and LaMarr Woodley. As of late January, the Steelers were a projected $25M over the cap, so more transactions are coming. They may include releasing WR Hines Ward, NT Casey Hampton, and LG Chris Kemoeatu. The Steelers want to give Mike Wallace a long-term deal rather than try to retain him with a restricted tender.

Per Rotoworld:
49ers signed GM Trent Baalke to an extension through 2016.The NFL's 2011 Executive of the Year as voted by the Pro Football Writers of America, Baalke was promoted from 49ers VP of Player Personnel to GM in 2011. A scout going since 1998, Baalke looks to have nailed his first draft class. First-rounder Aldon Smith and third-rounder Chris Culliver are long-term building blocks, while Kendall Hunter (fourth round) and Bruce Miller (seventh) made major rookie-year impacts. The 49ers also got a promising young QB in freakishly strong-armed, athletic second-round pick Colin Kaepernick.
Looking back, that was a pretty sick draft class by San Francisco. Another year or two drafting like that and they'll be beasts.

Cincinnati police have officially charged Bengals MLB Rey Maualuga with misdemeanor assault stemming from last weekend's bar fight.Contacted Friday by the Associated Press, the Bengals had no comment. Maualuga allegedly struck a bar manager while fighting another man in the night club, perhaps accidentally. Either way, the citation will be frowned upon by the league after Maualuga's 2010 DUI arrest. The NFL had to fine Maualuga two game checks and strip part of his signing bonus two years ago.

It's a matter of depth to me...as I look across the Braves hitters...there's not that much depth. Just need to keep our pitchers as healthy as possible and not...overuse them down the stretch.
Well, stay healthy and you won't have any problems. We have the same issues with depth; any of our big guys (Victorino, Pence) go down and we're fucked.
What are you expecting from Heyward this season?
-
Dear Braves, you need to do something to improve our team. Something would include signing someone, mention of signing someone or telling everyone that Jason Heyward is healthy. It's been too quiet of an off-season in Braves country IMO
I wouldn't be worried if I were you. With your starting rotation and bullpen, you guys have a team fully capable of going toe-to-toe with the Phillies down the stretch, so long as you don't choke again.
-
Oh damn, me snagging DeMarco Murray in the 3rd round for the Eagles was a pretty good pick. Nothing awesome outside of that, but I'll take it.

Yeah I've only already seen like 10 memes like it this week already. Son, I is not impressed.

I've thought this ever since they adopted the shootout. It was nothing more than a gimmick added to make games more "exciting" and boost ratings after the strike. A shootout does not determine the better team, and should not be used as a measure of winning or losing. If a regular season game is tied after three 20-minute periods of hockey, the teams go into a 5-minute sudden death period playing 4 on 4. If it's still tied after that, the teams deserve a tie.
I disagree about the Olympic system, though. I don't like how an overtime win is 2 points compared to a regulation win being 3 points. A win is a win, and a loss is a loss. To me, it should be like this.
Win = 2 points
Tie = 1 point
Loss = 0 points
Yes, that simple. Two points are awarded at every game, and you don't have the diluting of overtime. Actually, this should make the overtime period more intense because a loss is worth nothing, compared to the current system.
Almost two years later, I still stand by this. Fuck shootouts.
-
Definitely good to see the offense putting up 40+ points. As long as we have balanced playcalling we should have no trouble, and even if the run game is stuffed, Ross is good enough to put up 20-30 points, which should be enough to win with our defense.
We've got some tough conference games this year, though; it ain't gonna be easy.
-
That would have been HUGE news if we lost I think
No, if you lost the huge news would have been Bradshaw's go-ahead TD, and the Giants burning 2 timeouts early in the 2nd half.
