  1. They did have a new DC in Manusky. Just sayin'.

I have no sorrow for the team... same old Chargers.

I still don't get why they fired Marty a few years ago. Yeah, they went one-and-done, but wasn't that against a Patriots team that eventually won the Super Bowl? And they were 14-2 that year. Can't ignore results like that just because of one playoff game.

  2. If you guys actually watch Lurie's press conference, you might be surprised. Lurie sounded legitimately angry, disappointed, embarrassed, etc. He called this season "unacceptable" and really seemed to imply that promoting Castillo in a lockout-shortened offseason was a horrible idea.

Lurie essentially said without saying that Andy needs to take this team deep in the playoffs next year or it's gonna be time to clean house. And that's the right move, IMO.

  3. Jesus Christ... so many coaches are getting so many more chances. Perhaps if there was no lockout, guys like Norv and Andy would be gone.

The lockout shouldn't be a very valid excuse for a team like the Chargers; they've had the same key pieces in place for a few years under Turner and yet they keep regressing.

  4. Anyone want to suck Nate Clements dick? Bay is giving out free rep if you're interested.

    :p

Okay but seriously, always good to see great veterans like Clements finally get to experience playoff football. Not sure I like his chances of getting a ring this year, though. :nope:

  7. Terry McCormick of Titan Insider reports that the Rams have "serious interest" in making Jeff Fisher their next head coach.

NBC's Peter King also reports that St. Louis has set up an interview with Fisher. The Rams' last three coaches (Mike Martz, Scott Linehan, Steve Spagnuolo) have all been promoted coordinators. Fisher would be their first "recycled" head coach since the Dick Vermeil era, which apparently is the way owner Stan Kroenke is leaning amid reported interest in Jon Gruden, as well. Fisher turns 54 in February. He had a career record of 146-120 with the Titans.

  8. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that the Rams will fire GM Billy Devaney and head coach Steve Spagnuolo.

Official word should come on Monday. The move is perhaps the least surprising of the offseason, as a team that came within a game of winning the NFC West in 2010 melted down in hard-to-believe fashion, scoring only 15 offensive touchdowns while sporting the league's worst run defense. An almost biblical wave of injuries didn't help, but poor play-calling and a roster lacking depth following a number of unsuccessful drafts under Devaney made it impossible to hide the Rams' manifold problems. Spagnuolo will finish his three-season stint in St. Louis with a 10-38 record. With a franchise quarterback in place and cap room to spare the next two years, owner Stan Kroenke is in position to hire big-name replacements.
