Been a long time since I made one. Mostly an attempt to mess around with clouds, gradient maps, and saturation.

  4. It's people like the Westboro fucktards that make me wish certain freedoms may be taken away on a whim. But that would make us no better than them. I take satisfaction in knowing one of two things will happen: they die and nothing happens, or they all burn in hell (whatever version that may be) for being the cherry-picking hypocrites they are. Either way, justice is served.

  6. Not that I mind the enthusiasm, but dayum. You think the Phins will be better off defensively than a Seahawks squad with all starters in the secondary returning and a more beefed up D-Line?

Church Drops Former Packer S, LeRoy Butler, as Speaker

Good for LeRoy. People don't need the forgiveness of a deity to promote human equality. Might not be able to speak there, but I'm sure there are more understanding establishments out there.

    Post-Draft State of the Union

With the latest draft in the books, I can honestly say I think the first 4 rounds were the best I've seen in a long time. Even as a whole, it was pretty solid. But I have to get my licks in, which I'll get to soon enough: Picks: - Dion Jordan: When I saw the notification on the screen that we were the ones trading up to number 3, my heart stopped. I can't remember the last time we made a move like that. If anything we usually trade down. Needless to say I'm very happy with the pick. Our pass rush was abysmal last year and it showed in our struggle against the pass as a result. Jordan has great height and a frame for more weight, and his physical skill set screams potential. If he pans out, the Wake/Jordan duo could become one of the best pass rushing combos in the league. I would have been more than satisfied with taking Johnson instead, but this pick feels like we're addressing a bigger need. - Jamar Taylor: I wasn't going to be satisfied if we went through this draft without improving our secondary with Smith gone and having lost Davis before that. Grabbing Grimes in FA was nice, but this was better. I don't think we need him to be a star from day one, just a solid starter, and I hope he can do that. - Dallas Thomas: From what I've gathered about him, I don't know if he's the answer, but he'll find a role on the line, and his versatility could benefit us if injuries become an issue. - Will Davis: I don't really know much about him. There were corners with better grades than him that we could have targeted, but at worst I like the move to double up on corners. If he competes well enough he has the potential to become our nickelback option at least. - Jelani Jenkins: I don't question the target position, but I question the pick. I think there were better options still on the board. His health concerns worry me, but his SEC pedigree eases me a little. If he has good range, maybe I can deal with it. - Dion Sims: I like this pick. It took a few hours to grow on me, but his skill set compliments Keller's nicely. It won't be Gronk/Hernandez, but it will be a serviceable set of options for Tannehill. Sims is a big target and I have a feeling he will see some playing time next year. - Mike Gillislee: I was right about the target position, but wrong on the pick. I have a couple of additional comments below, but ultimately I don't know much about him. I didn't watch him play, but the analysis that he's a multi-purpose, good but not great back makes me feel a little better. - Caleb Sturgis: Not gonna lie. Right now I hate this pick. I was furious, especially because there a lot of other ways I felt we could/should have gone with this. See below. - Don Jones: Once again I was right about the position, but wrong on the player. Don't know the first thing about him, so right now all I can say is, at least we got a safety. See below. The Rant - Like I said, I was okay with grabbing a LB in the 4th. It was a position of need and we filled it. But honestly, why not DaVonte Holloman? Why not Chase Thomas, who actually went undrafted? I don't know, but this pick rubs me the wrong way. - Heading into the 5th round, I had this idea that we should target a safety, and then go RB or WR. Phillip Thomas was still available and I thought he would be a good pickup this late. And then there was the other pick. I felt we could go with Andre Ellington or Ryan Swope. And there were benefits to either one.... Being a Clemson fan, I saw a lot of Ellington, so I knew what kind of effort we were going to get out of him, despite his size. He's versatile with good enough hands to be an additional target for Tannehill, and he plays much faster than his 4.6 implies. Yes, there is bias there because I'm a fan, but there's genuine talent. And with Swope, you have a thick frame and a speedy route runner, who also played with Tannehill. He could have provided a certain comfort level there. - So we get Gillislee. Okay, fine. I wasn't really happy with it because Ellington was still around and I felt like everything was lined up. And then we get a kicker? Really? To be clear, I think Carpenter needs to improve on last year's woes, but just the year before he was really good. It's called a down year and everybody has one. We had the potential to add an offensive weapon for Tannehill or a safety, a better one than Jones, anyway. But no. We spend it on a fucking kicker, who in all likelihood might have still fallen to us in round 7. I'm not trying to knock Sturgis. I know about his accuracy and all that. But this move made zero sense to me. The 5th round is one I want to forget, until the two guys we picked up make me eat my words. Hopes for the Season: With FA and the Draft in the books, I honestly think things are in place for the Phins to move forward and compete on a higher level....eventually. Because of the players we lost, and the young ones we gained who will need to develop, I see this as a 7-9 or 8-8 year. It's true, though, that we were only a handful of unlucky plays away from being a playoff team last year. With the addition of Gibson, Wallace, Keller, and now Sims, I think Tannehill has a great chance at building on last year. Expectations will be higher, but still fair. I think the additions we made at CB and DE will prove to be good ones in time. I don't need the number 1 D, just one that will actually be tougher to play against through the air. I thought our run D was solid, but you can always build on stuff. And that fucking kicker better hit some game winners, or Ellington better bust.

    Grade your team's draft

Guess I should have waited for this post to come out. Not gonna re-post all of it, but here's the link: Post Draft Thoughts Overall, I think it was a B or a B+. Loved the Jordan pick, loved the doubling up on CB's, and I was happy with the Sims pick. Grabbing the O-lineman was a necessity, and my jury will stay out on him till I get to see what he brings to the table. Beyond the 4th round, not very happy with how it finished up.

Draft picks you were wrong about

I did, too . I wanted us to grab him real bad. For the Phins, it's hard to reach back on some names I remember. Seems like most move through here pretty quick. The right calls? Not too many. Let's see... - I hated the Pat White pick and knew that wasn't going anywhere. It was directly related to the success of the Wildcat the previous year and only an idiot, I mean Phins FO, would think they could get away with it again. - I knew Long was going to be good. But I still wished we had made the sexy choice instead of the logical one at the time. And the wrong calls: - I thought Patrick Taylor might actually end up being a decent RZ target. - I thought Vontae Davis was going to be a diva more trouble than he was worth. - I thought Sean Smith was going to be more productive than he was with his size. - I thought Henne was going to finally the run of bad luck at QB. In his defense, I think he had as shitty a deal as Beck, but neither here nor there at this point. - I thought Hartline was going to fade away after year one. - Ditto for Bess.

Who's Draft Impressed You The Most

I definitely liked Arizona's draft. Brought in 2 solid backs to reinforce that injury prone backfield and gave the QB an additional weapon in Swope to go along with all the other great picks. Loved almost all of them. I think SF had a great draft as well, considering the only glaring need for them was a new safety. Beyond the first round they were pretty much free to do as they pleased. Quinton Patton is a great addition to an already solid receiving corps. I think the Marcus Lattimore pickup was perfect for both him and the team, and possibly one of the best pickups in the whole draft. Think about it: he's going to a SB contender and has no pressure to recover too fast from his injury thanks to an already deep backfield. He was the most NFL ready back before his injury, and since he already had the smarts, all they have to do is wait for him to have the body again. If it doesn't work out, they got him on the cheap anyway late in the draft. At best he becomes the heir apparent to a potential HoFer in Gore. What's not to like? Bengals made some solid moves as well as Tampa. By bringing in Jonathan Banks, I think the Bucs have arguably the best secondary in the NFCS, and in contention for the NFC depending on how well they mesh. Minny's draft was top-heavy, but that first round was impressive in my book.

    Richard Sherman

All I know is Sherman won the Twitter war as soon as Revis tunnel-visioned on the number of Twitter followers he had. Bitch, please. He's better off not saying anything. As far as who's better? I have no idea. Time will tell. Right now I'm going Revis, because he has a proven track record of performance. He doesn't get as many picks because QB's know what happens when they throw his way. Sherman has 2 seasons. Gotta keep it up to take the top spot.

    Perfect Match

Strikes me as a YAC guy with that frame and physicality. I wouldn't mind taking him if the pieces fell that way. Still not eyeballing the receivers after such a busy off-season though. I'd also dig bringing in Deandre Hopkins later on, But that likely won't work out. I think Ansah or Jordan would be great fits to compliment Wake. We need a pass rusher to help him out in a big way, especially if we stick with 4-3. Neither is likely to fall to us, though.

    New NFL jerseys

I really don't like the watered colors for the Phins unis. The classic colors just didn't pop out that much. And the 3D numbers were awesome. The all whites are pretty cool. Now that I've seen how the logo flows with the rest of the uni, I'm a little more receptive of the change. It'll still take some time, but no biggie.

Browns seriously considering trading for Davone Bess

What bothers me most about possibly giving him up is: 1. We could have just NOT gone after Gibson. Still shaking my head, but whatever. 2. He's going to be uber reliable just about anywhere he goes. So let's hope he doesn't stay in house in the AFCE. 3. Even though he is a great upgrade in the right role, I doubt we get anything for him really. One of the downsides of having a guy who's managed to stay under the radar in a Welker-driven division while still being solid.

    MIT shooting

I'm gonna play devil's advocate here. What if, and that's a big what if, blots intended it to be interpreted as hyperbole, and it just came out poorly? Have you never said something to the effect of "I'd rather be/say/do X before X."? Because I don't know what blots truly means by it, I can't speak for him, but I have the sneaky feeling he wouldn't actually rather a convicted killer be set free than sent to Gitmo. I think it was an exaggeration in an attempt to make a point...that he disapproves of that system. Beyond his first comment, it seems like you tried to corner him into this whole false dilemma of "Well if he doesn't want him in Gitmo it must mean he wants him free" and it's blown up into this. Up to this point, I don't recall him specifically stating that. He keeps reiterating that he'd rather the guy NOT go to Gitmo. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong, and I whole-heartedly disagree with that particular sentiment just as you do. But the beauty and the curse of being an American is that we should have the right to hold such views without being badgered to such an extent about it. Just my 2 cents on it.

    MIT shooting

I think it would be better if there were no place like Gitmo for people to be sent to in the first place. But aside from that, I think it would be most suitable to send him to ADX Florence or a similar supermax. He's an American citizen, and thus a "domestic" terrorist. Not that it makes much difference to the people he's affected.

    House's One and Only Mock

Yet another mock that has us taking a wideout. Am I missing something?
  23. I think I just shed a tear over that one. Shit like this just makes my day and reminds me how much good there still is out there. Bet that kid feels like the king of the world. Well deserved, too. Pretty good running for a kid with cancer.

    My Mock

After signing Hartline and Wallace to long-terms and bringing in Gibson (no idea why when we have Bess), not to mention Keller, I just don't see our first being spent on a WR anymore. Not to say I wouldn't like Patterson, but we have glaring needs elsewhere, especially on the line and in the secondary. It would be nice if Milliner or Vaccaro fell to us, but I doubt it. I'd even take Jordan or Ansah over a wideout at this point. Love me some D-Hop. Watkins might have been the hype at Clemson, but Hopkins made it possible by being super reliable.
