  1. Wondering what you think of Miami as an honorable mention for RB? Csonka, Morris, Kiick, Brown, and Williams were the ones that came to mind off the bat. I don't think anyone from the 80's stood out in particular.

What was the last movie you watched?

Captain America. I wasn't all that thrilled by it, but it was still okay.

    2012 GOP Primary

From the GOP, I will definitely support Paul. He has the least selfish agenda in my humble opinion. Although his encouragement that the Tea Party sabotage the debt ceiling vote kind of had me pissed. I still like his vision for the most part. Aside from Obama, I have yet to hear who the serious candidates on the other side are. My vote certainly won't be wasted on him is all I do know.

    ALL MEMBERS PLEASE READ!!!!

Hard to pick 2, but I'll say Wake and Bess/V. Davis (whichever has a better render available)
  5. Could someone with a non-biased viewpoint tell me whether or not taxing the wealthy a little more would actually hurt the economy? Further, is this proposed additional revenue even the thing that's holding up the debt ceiling negotiations at this point? Is it Medicare, SS, education? Or is there a simpler explanation, such as ego or political posturing and finger pointing to avoid having to make a tough decision that might cause people to lose ground in their 2012 campaigns? I'm genuinely interested to hear some logical opinions on this issue, mostly because I will be directly impacted if this thing doesn't get resolved by the deadline, or at least that's what I have come to believe based on the information I hear on the news and the C-Span debates. I'm tired of hearing the same recycled arguments by party biased members of congress. I mean, it really makes no sense to me how grown men and women can justify their blame games without offering real solutions in the face of this deadline looming over us. The Democrats are pissed that Republicans don't want tax hikes, the Republicans are laying the overspending issue at the feet of the Democrats (even though Bush actually started the overspending). I honestly never watched a single minute of C-Span until 3 days ago, and now I wish I hadn't started. The unwillingness of either party to budge on the final key issues, even a little bit, baffles me.

So, what's your team's record gonna be this season?

I'd really like to make .500, but I doubt it. I'll go with 6-10. I think it all hinges on QB play, TBH.

I think they were both a little past their prime at that point, if I recall correctly.

Chad Henne gets booed by fans

Yes, but in Henne's defense, he didn't become a full time starter until the season before last. The whole problem is he got put in earlier than Miami's time table called for. Although I'm aware that there's the ideal plan and the one that usually goes down. I think Beck suffered from a similar situation. The bigger problem for me is exactly what you touched on with the classless nature of the fans. It isn't going to encourage him to play better. If he's already under the impression that the fans expect him to fail, the chance is that much greater that he will. He's our starter unless we can cut something with Orton (not sure how much the Bush and Taylor moves cost us), and because of that it's time to get behind him 100%. I think people got so used to winning with Marino that this last decade has just been piling on the frustration with the inability to find a good QB. It isn't like management hasn't had their chances....Brees would have been the turning point. But you can never know for sure I guess.

Absolutely enjoyed watching him play for Oregon State. Tons of fight in him and he has some zip in the open field.

    Leagues Most Underrated Player

These 2 comments just about sum it up for me....continuously snubbed in Pro Bowl voting because fans care more about big names than reliable players, owned the last decade in total tackles. From a somewhat homer perspective, I will add Davone Bess to the conversation. Undersized, undrafted rookie, and since day one has been putting up respectable numbers on a team that hasn't had a genuinely good offense in a very long time. Yet when I hear conversations about the best slot receivers in the league, I don't hear about him that much. Not sure why.

Brandon Marshall Reveals He Suffers From Mental Disorder

While he has admittedly done some not so admirable things, he hasn't coupled this revelation with a "Devil made me do it" argument, so he deserves at least that much. He's even gone so far as to try to completely remove the blame from his wife regarding the stabbing. He's opening up in a big way without removing accountability for his actions. This is his life changing moment, his chance to make that turnaround that guys like Ricky Williams and Michael Vick took advantage of. We'll see if he sticks with it, but I think he deserves a little more respect than the douchebags who stay douchebags while in complete denial that they are douchebags.

Update: Jason Taylor returning to Dolphins

Interesting.....I really do hope this gives Wake more chances to be disruptive. I have lots of respect for that guy.

    Greatest Cornerback Tandems of All-Time

Kind of disappointed Madison/Surtain aren't on either list. Perhaps they weren't as good as I thought I remembered. I was younger and didn't really follow the game that close.

    Eagles land Nnamdi Asomugha

It's a good kind of shock, though, right? I was definitely worried he'd end up a Jet. This move makes Philly's secondary that much better. I don't think it makes them SB favorites, but it will certainly make life that much harder for NFC passers.

    Panthers trade for Greg Olsen

Isn't Newton more of a deep ball guy, though? Either way, Olsen upgrades the TE squad. Just seems like they would focus more on outside weapons for a guy with his arm.
  17. I worded that poorly. I meant to say that he started the period of significantly increased spending we are still experiencing today. During the Clinton era the total national debt rose by around 1 trillion. By comparison, Bush's administration bumped it from roughly 5 to 10 trillion by the time Obama was elected, in the same amount of time. To be fair to Bush, I don't know if the margin would be as high if inflation is considered, but it is still a significant amount of debt increase. Once he took office, the lengthy period of economic growth we experienced during Clinton's years came to an end. Obama took over and certainly hasn't done any better, but it was a mess he partially inherited that he subsequently made worse. My original point was that the Republicans are perfectly willing to lay the overspending problem at Obama's feet, when it was a Republican administration that uncharacteristically started throwing the money around at a faster rate than usual.

Who do you want in FA?

I'd really like to bring Orton to Miami. He and Marshall have worked together before, and the numbers between them are hard to ignore. Young's character question makes me nervous, but I think at this point even he would be a better overall option than Henne, until the guy can show he is ready to be a starter. Probably another reason I would like Orton....he could be the new mentor, and maybe give Chad some pointers on how to handle Marshall when he doesn't get his way.
  20. Phins4life

Bush could be headed to Miami

I hope not.... Either way, though, I like it. He offers a good change of pace to Thomas and provides the QB (crossing fingers for Orton) another target. At the very least, he'll spice up the ST and give us the much needed home run threat once more.

    Patriots trade for Fat Albert

Key there being that he has to get motivated to do more than just serve his own interests. Good thing Bill doesn't really tolerate shit. If Al acts out, he can afford to toss him I think.

    Tim Tebow Leadership argument...

I think his name is Marc Brown. I saw that debate as well, and I'm not sure they were on the same page as to how leadership should be defined. One seemed to be referencing his quality as a leader based on accomplishments, while the other argument was based on the "it" factor where a guy at any age can get his teammates pumped up and inspired enough to play harder than usual, regardless of tangible accomplishments. In terms of achievement, he clearly has not met the criteria except at the collegiate level. Based on emotion and drive to succeed, he has tremendous potential.

    Need some help

My parents divorced when I was 15, so these are basically going to be past tense: 1. Do both your parents spend a quality amount of time with you? Does one spend more time with you than the other. -My father and I were pretty close since he was the one I chose to stay with. I didn't get the same time with my mother after the separation since she moved across the state with my sister. 2. How does thinking about the divorce make you feel? -There were a combination of negative emotions ranging from feeling responsible in some way to anger at them for allowing it to happen. There was a lot of unwanted pressure to pick a favorite. To this day I still resent it to an extent, because I spent my entire time in high school walking on eggshells to please my parents over stupid things rather than just enjoying the best years of my teens like other kids got to do. 3. Have your feelings about the divorce changed from when you were younger and the divorce first happened? -Yes and no. At the time, I held a pretty conservative religious ideology on marriage. As I matured and my adherence to a religious belief declined, I can look back and acknowledge that if it wasn't working, they needed to get out of it. People have one life to find happiness. The longer you go resenting the person you're with, the more you will emotionally scar each other and the children if you have any. But the factors that led to the decline of that 16 year marriage and the way they handled it as adults still anger me. I'll leave it at that. 4. How is life different at home now than it was before? -It was obviously lonelier. I rarely saw my sister and mother after the split. My father and I got into loads of fights regarding my loyalty to one parent versus another, so I spent a lot of time trying to please everyone so I could have some peace and quiet about it. Even today it's a touchy thing. 5. How do your parents get along now that they are divorced? Does if affect you? -They are incredibly childish about it, which shames me, because they raised my better than that, but couldn't care less how they themselves behave. My sister is still young and impressionable, which is probably my greatest concern. I don't want that kind of immaturity rubbing off on her. 6. How has your parents relationship changed your thoughts and opinions on relationships/marriage? -I still held most of my conservative views long after (as recently as a year ago), but I think I spent more time fighting with those views than I did being in agreement with them. I still appreciate relationships for their social and cultural value. I still love my wife and would do anything for her. But do I believe that getting divorced if you aren't happy is wrong? No. Do I believe my world would crumble if my wife and I divorced? No. I've become a little more numb to traditional views on marriage and relationships as a whole. 7. Has the divorce of your parents made it harder to trust others, including your parents? -Somewhat. Although I do try my hardest to maintain a philosophy that my trust is reasonably easy to gain, reasonably difficult to lose, and extremely tough to get back. I refuse to be a fool me twice kind of guy. It definitely toughens the skin a little. 8. Have you seen a change in your parents attitude since the divorce happened? -Very much so. They barely speak to each other or even look at each other, 9 years later. It baffles me. I can't remember them having a civil conversation that contained an exchange of more than 10 words. But I haven't been home in 3 years. Maybe they've matured a bit. 9. Does living with only one parent make you feel more pressured and feel like you have to do more for the family? -It did. As mentioned before, my biggest pressure was on trying to maintain a loyalty to both parents without ruining my home life with my father.

Vince Young could be in play for the Dolphins

I wasn't making a direct comparison between Young and White, so relax. Young is and always has been a better QB at the pro level, but I just don't think his style matches what the leadership want. If he has made greater strides in his pocket game, then by all means I'll admit I was mistaken. I don't follow the Titans all that much, so I could be wrong. But there is still the behavioral issue that is of greater concern to me. Just one opinion out of many. That's all.
