  1. Licht has a history with both guys that He has interviewed.

I'd be lying if I said that didn't want an offensive-minded guy, but in the end, all I want is the best guy. Someone who's going to get his time to potentially build this team into a contender.

I'm just happy that our GM has literally been given full control to find the next guy because the Glazer boys have proven that they suck at HCing hires.

  2. You never want a revolving door at HC. Never a good look and never an ideal way to build a successful team. That said, you also don't want to stick with a guy that you cannot/are not winning with just because of the above.

To me, the issue is this team, this ownership, has not hired the right guy. They clearly are not good at it and I am extremely happy that Licht is in charge of the new hire. I'd also bet that Licht talked the Glazers into firing Lovie in fear of losing Dirk Koetter. Apparently Koetter was on the Eagles (was Howie Roseman's #1 choice before Chip Kelly came along) list and is actually the Dolphins #1 option.

The only guy I honestly would take/be happy with over Koetter would be Hue Jackson. Although, I think it'll be Dirk and I am more interested in who he would bring in as his DC. Mike Smith?

  3.

Han began as a smuggler (not a very good one) in the original trilogy, by the end he was a war hero, General, good guy etc. He and Luke didn't even really get along at first. However after everything he gets the girl, he goes back and saves his friends etc etc. We all know the movies pretty well.

Now 30 years later he's back being a shitty smuggler, something he sucks at, makes no money at, probably isn't happy doing. Lost his wife and his kid, they even take the Millennium Falcon from him. He gets to be the good guy one last time for like a day. Not enough. I understand Ford not wanting to be in any more movies but the way he went not satisfying.

So nearly everything Han did in the first 3 movies he goes back to square one with little explanation to boot. Han and Leia presumably somewhat happy until they ship their kid away and they separate because they handle it different ways.

I'm sure we'll get more info on Rey being someone daughter cousin sister, a Star Wars movie wouldnt be complete without a few incest undertones. It just didn't sit well with me that she thought the Force was a myth or whatever she said about it then was able to miraculously use it to her benefit when she needed to. Which meant overpowering some guy who's trained for years in it multiple times.

    I disagree.

Han was a smuggler because he runs from any sort of responsibility and he's never really cared about anything other than himself. I think he knows he always screws up so he always runs from it because he feels that he is disappointing/letting people that he cares about down. He may have fucked up the smuggler thing often, but it was his and Chewie's THING. He has no real responsibility (at least that he cares about) and has fun doing it with his best bud in Chewie. It is the only thing he knows. Even Maz brings up the fact that he's always running (and coincidentally says something to the effect of, "these are the eyes of someone always running" when looking at into Finn's eyes hmmmm lol) and that he can't keep running.

I think everything that he accomplished in the original trilogy (it all started when he came back to help/save Luke so he can blow up the Death Star) started him on his path of, "Oh...look...I'm not a screw up and I can help/not disappoint the people I care about. That it can be/is his fight." Then, his son goes onto joining the Darkside and he and Leia had their issues. What did he do? He does what he knows...he ran...he and his best bud went back to doing the smuggling thing. Also, looking for their stolen ship. lol

He then gets sucked back in when he finds his ship with Rey, Finn and BB-8/Luke map. THEN, the woman he loves (Leia) tells him that if anyone can bring back their son, it's him. Before that he asks Leia to tell him what he can do.

When he finally goes to confront his son, he's still hesitant. IMO, he was successful and he reached Ben until Ben he was pulled back to the dark side (represented when the light died down from the sun finally being sucked away) and then kills his father because he believes that maybe it'll stop the "torn apart" bit. I thought it was really well done and even the affectionate touch Han gave before falling as sort of a, "I'm sorry, son. I love you."

  4. So I do agree that the GM should come first and the GM and owner should then look for their HC. I also think that if anyone should have been fired, out of Pagano and Grigson, I would easily choose the latter of the two.

That said, I wouldn't have given Grigson an extension. He clearly has not been a good GM at all, and even though I believe the GM should come first in the hiring process, Grigson had his shot and he sucks. Keeping Pagano makes sense, IMO, and Irsay should be one of the owners looking for a new GM.

But yeah...not how it went down... lolColts

  5. And if you need LIVE evidence that minorities are treated differently than whites, look no further than the media coverage of these heavily-armed clowns who seized federal property in Oregon as their "base" of operations for "years to come" and threatening to shoot any police or govt that try to confront and arrest them versus any current minority movement (ie. Black Lives Matter). Or contrast how the police and govt will handle the situation versus how they've handled BLM. Think about how the police or govt would react if it were black folks or Muslims who seized the property armed with assault rifles.

    Aaaand there it is: http://www.rawstory.com/2016/01/cnn-analyst-white-militiamen-arent-a-threat-like-black-protesters-because-theyre-not-looting-anything/

So fucking true and what in the actual FUCK @ that link... :disgust:

  6. On Kylo Ren:

I think some of you guys are missing the point about Ren. The fact that he's not a total badass and has so many flaws is precisely what makes him an intriguing character, and that's not even considering the fact that he's Ben Solo.

    SO MUCH THIS ^^^^

  7.

Someone please explain to me what there is to like about Kylo Ren? Dude got fucked up by TWO people who just miraculously knew how to use a lightsaber for one. And 2, there's no point in talking about his actual face. You won't ever see it again, cause otherwise scarring his face was pointless as all hell....

Ren is still relatively young in his training and is fighting extremely emotionally after just killing his father. I think he is still a bit conflicted, although killing Hon definitely helped push him over to the darkside that much more.

Also, I guess you forgot about chewing shooting him with his crossbow blaster.

He was clearly toying with Finn and Rey is clearly very very strong with the force even without any training. I also think that they wanted to make it a focusing point when they showed her getting attacked for BB-8 earlier in the movie. Showing Finn about to come to her rescue and her clearly not needing any help and she's somewhat skilled in hand-to-hand combat with her staff which is lightsaber-like.

  8. I went and saw it for the second time yesterday. It was even better the second time around.

I LOVE Kylo Ren and he is already one of the best villains ever, IMO. I love Rey even more. I mean, everything about her. She's just badass in every way and her facial expressions are epic.

I'm digging Than's theory about Rey, but I am convinced she's Luke's daughter. Nothing you can say will change that! lol

There is so much left unanswered and I am looking forward to theorizing with you all up until episode VIII.

Is it just me or does it seem like Ren knows (or at least has an idea) about who Rey is? I mean he obviously does not come out right and say it, but his reaction to "they had help from a girl" after him knowing Finn and BB-8 were on Jakku (where Rey was left as a child) and he seemed to be afraid of her. He immediately went after her in the woods when he landed near Maz's place and found out where she was last seen. His immediate willingness to wanting to train her.

My theory is that Rey was with Luke and Ren when they were training the new order of Jedi and Ren was supposed to kill her along with the rest and he couldn't bring himself to kill his young cousin (he is very conflicted and questioning his actions after all) so he took and left her on some desert junk planet where no one would find her. Luke thinks she is dead and played a big part (along with losing Ben) in why he left into seclusion. I mean, in Rey's vision after touching Luke's lightsaber, you see Luke on his knees and his hand on R2D2 and Kylo Ren standing in the wake of the dead Jedi trainees. Her being left on Jakku was connected and included in the same vision.

OOOORRRR Luke is able to escape with her and leaves her on Jakku because, with what happened to Ren (succumbing to the Darkside), he's afraid the same would happen to Rey. So he puts her somewhere where she can grow up uninfluenced by either side like he was and Lor San Tekka is watching over her...

Luke's lightsaber calling to her...the immediate vision when touching it...what Maz said to her...the lightsaber going to her over Ren in the forest fight on Starkiller Base...Luke seemed to recognize her and seemingly having tears in his eyes...

EDIT: Forgot to mention that it seemed pretty convenient that R2D2 finally wakes up from his little hibernation when Rey comes to the Rebellion base. Another clue that Rey is Luke's daughter?

What I am trying to say is...PLEASE BE LUKE'S DAUGHTER! lol Luke pls

  9. I didn't get home until about 3:30 in the morning so I'm running on like three and half hours of sleep. lol

The movie was amazing. It had that original trilogy feel (as others have mentioned) with all the great modern day special effects.

IMO, everything was so well done and they've left us wanting more and fanboying out while trying to theorizing if Rey is Han's daughter (Ren's twin?) or if she is Luke's daughter. Regardless of which, why/how was she left abandoned on a desert shitty planet with no memory of her parents? If she's Luke's kid, who's her mother? Mara Jade? If so, where is Mara Jade?

As mentioned already, Poe Dameron is awesome! His character is done really well by Oscar Isaac and that's with very limited screen time. Hopefully he gets more in the episodes 8 & 9.

I loved Fin and his little interactions with other characters. I love Rey and her great facial expressions and her good hearted, independent, strong attitude.

Kylo Ren's voice (mask on) is so fucking awesome.Very menacing with such a great tone. I love, as SteVo said, how he's so angsty and extremely conflicted and portrayed so well Adam Driver.

The lightsaber battles were so well done. I mean, I loved it all. Again, well done JJ and crew. So far, I am loving every minute of it and cannot wait to see it again and to say I am looking forward to VIII is a massive understatement.

    9/10 rating from me

  10. I love that theaters have finally started having people pick their seats as you purchase a ticket. It's like that everywhere else where you sit to watch some form of entertainment. Eliminates all the BS.

I have 8:30pm tickets Thursday but there's no seating chart. And this is at Sawgrass, one of the most popular malls in the country. What time should I get there?

I worked at a movie theater while in High School which was around the time the Star Wars prequels came out. The lines went out the doors and around the building. I should note that this was a big movie theater and also very popular.

Considering the location and no seating chart...I'd guess probably two hours before showtime...any earlier...good luck... lol

  11. 11pm tickets on Thursday. So stoked.

My buddy and I found the above time slot at a theater that was practically empty. We were shocked. Got to pick the best seats in the theater. Literally everywhere else was either sold out or had a seat here and there in what I call Neck Breaker Row (first couple rows right in-front of the screen) and fuck that.

  12. I get what you're saying, oochymp, but in the meantime, he is causing massive amounts of damage from within while he isn't offering anything specific or realistic policy wise. He's preying on the fears of the public and he's fueling inflammatory rhetoric. He is deliberately breeding misinformation that has created/fueled a frightened and hostile environment here that is already emboldened people to berating others and potentially leading to more aggressive behavior and violence.

    It's bad.
